Do you ever feel as if you're too busy to meditate, or that you're simply not very good at it? This is something that so many people experience, yet today's guest believes that this is ONLY because of a fundamental misunderstanding about what meditation really is. Henry Shukman is an authorised Zen Master and Spiritual Director of the Mountain Cloud Zen Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Over the years, Henry has taught meditation at organisations including Google, Harvard Business School and the Esalen Institute, AND he is also the co-founder of ‘The Way' meditation app, which offers a unique pathway of training designed to help people deepen their practice. Henry is ALSO an award-winning poet and the author of several books, including his latest ‘Original Love: The Four Inns on the Path of Awakening', which explores meditation as a path to compassion, healing and presence. In our conversation, we explore how meditation can reconnect us with kindness, compassion and a deeper sense of being alive, including: Why meditation isn't about achieving something new, but about rediscovering love – whether that's compassion for ourselves, care for others or a deeper sense of connection with life itself How even just five minutes each day can begin to calm the nervous system, ease stress and help us feel more present Why kindness and compassion sit at the heart of health and happiness, and how practices like meditation help us embody them more fullyHenry's personal story of living with severe eczema, and how meditation helped him transform both his physical health and his relationship with himself The “four inns” of meditation – mindfulness, support, absorption and awakening – and how they offer a clear and practical roadmap for practice Practical, accessible ways to bring meditation into life, from stacking it with other habits to finding moments of stillness amid a busy day This episode is a great reminder that meditation isn't about adding another chore to your list or trying to empty your mind of all thoughts. Many people find it difficult at first and assume they're not cut out for it, but as Henry explains, there's no such thing as a bad meditation – the only one that doesn't count is the one you don't do. It's about pausing, being still and coming back to the peace and presence that are part of being human. In a world that constantly pushes us to do more, Henry's message is a reassuring one: that peace, kindness and love are not rewards to be earned, but parts of who we already are. Reading Henry's most recent book had a profound impact on me, and I hope that this conversation brings you some of the same insight and inspiration. I hope you enjoy listening. Ever feel like your body is waving a white flag while your to-do list keeps growing? Today's guest, health coach Amber Swift, shares her journey from ministry heartache and health crisis to hope, healing, and helping other overwhelmed moms find their way back to thriving. What does it really mean to practice yoga not just once in a while, but again and again, across years, through resistance, joy, boredom, and transformation? In this episode, Kino and Tim explore the deeper meaning of abhyāsa, the Sanskrit word often translated as “practice,” but whose roots reveal something far more enduring: the committed, intentional act of returning. They weave this with the concept of bhāvanā, the inner cultivation of the heart and mind, drawn from early Buddhist teachings. Through stories from the Ashtanga method and personal reflections on the power of repetition, Kino and Tim share how practice is not about performance or perfection, but about shaping who we become through presence. This episode is an invitation to see practice not as a means to an end, but as the path itself. The pose is not the point. Returning is the point. Cultivating presence, breath by breath, day by day, becomes the living path of yoga. When we stop running and return to the moment, we remember, this is the place we never truly left. Vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness. Daily practices like meditation can enhance self-awareness. Everyone is doing the best they can with their circumstances. Good habits and bad habits both compound over time. Storytelling can be a powerful tool for healing. Understanding the influence of our past can help us grow. In today's conversation, Hope Fitzgerald and I dive into the practical, heart-centered technology she calls the Infinity Wave, a 10th-dimensional, water-infused symbol of love and compassion that anyone can use to soften the nervous system, widen the heart, and change the field between people.Hope (spiritual teacher, intuitive dowser, end-of-life midwife, neurofeedback practitioner, and author of The Infinity Wave: Mastering the Art of Love, Compassion, and Flow) walks us through how the wave came to her, what it feels like in the body, and simple ways to bring it into daily life. “The infinity wave is a pathway to open towards what your soul might want to be learning and changing.” We talk about:• What the Infinity Wave actually is, the figure-eight of flowing water and why water matters. • Daily, accessible practices: placing the wave in the heart, widening the chest, and the 60-second “daily wave” to move from contraction to expansion. • How the wave creates heart coherence, reduces reactivity, and opens the field for new solutions and creativity. • Using the wave as a relational tool — knitting fields together between two people for kinder, clearer communication. • Dowsing 101: what dowsing is, how Hope uses rods and pendulums, and a live dowsing session (including timing guidance for launches and personal questions).Visit SpreadInfiniteHope.com for Hope's work, the Infinity Circle schedule, and links to her book and readings. Do spiritual disciplines still matter in today's busy world? In this episode of the Finding Freedom Co Podcast, we're uncovering the real power behind practices like prayer, Bible study, worship, fasting, and rest.Spiritual disciplines are not about checking boxes or trying to earn God's love. These practices shape our hearts, anchor our faith, and open space for the Holy Spirit to move in powerful ways.If you've ever struggled to stay consistent, felt guilty for missing a day, or wondered if disciplines really make a difference, this episode will encourage you to see them in a whole new light. And don't forget, our next Bible study inside the membership starts October 6th! What if life is already complete, already whole, already free? My dear friend Jana Wirth, a yogini and physiotherapist in Mainz, Germany, speaks about the moment she realized she was free to enjoy her life without guilt. That simple recognition lifted years of conditioning and opened space for ease and joy. Together we speak about her path through physiotherapy, Yoga, and the ways these two streams meet in her daily work. Jana describes her steady commitment to practice, the challenges of cultural expectation, and the simple joy of merging with life as it is. I loved hearing how she no longer feels the burden of fixing people, but instead supports them in discovering their own capacity to heal. This is the Yoga of intimacy with breath, body, relationship, and the living world around us. Key Takeaways Freedom to Enjoy Life – Jana describes the profound relief of letting go of guilt and realizing she is allowed to enjoy her life. Physiotherapy and Yoga Together – Rather than keeping them separate, Jana allows these two pathways to inform and support each other. Healing is Within – True healing happens when people discover their own capacity to move, breathe, and feel, not when someone else tries to fix them. Daily Practice as Anchor – A simple, consistent Yoga practice—sometimes just ten minutes—has guided Jana through emotion, work, and daily life. Union with All of Life – Yoga is intimacy with body, breath, relationship, and the living world, an experience of being one with everything arising. Freedom from Roles – Jana no longer identifies as only a physiotherapist or Yoga teacher, but lives freely beyond professional labels. "You are not here to prove that you are enough. You are here to remember who you are." In this powerful episode of Soul Talk, I explore the deep roots of scarcity and how it is more than just a mindset—it's a spiritual trance passed down through generations. I explain how scarcity shows up in our lives as survival, guilt, hustle, and unworthiness, keeping us trapped in cycles of lack and struggle. You're going to learn how to break free from these “scarcity spells” by remembering your true nature as infinite, abundant, and already enough. Through practices of gratitude, generosity, and presencing, you'll master how to shift from living in fear of “not enough” to embodying the frequency of abundance. This episode is both a reminder and an invitation: you are not here to beg for joy or hustle for love—you are here to remember that you are abundance itself. Timestamps (01:10) – Scarcity as a Spiritual Trance Why scarcity isn't just a mindset—it's a spiritual hypnosis passed down through generations. (05:16) – The Programming of Scarcity Childhood messages like “money doesn't grow on trees” and “be realistic” and how they shape our beliefs. (07:27) – Scarcity Beyond Money How scarcity is really about separation from source, not just lack of finances. (09:40) – Scarcity in the Nervous System Why you can have money, love, or success and still feel broke or unworthy. (11:27) – The Four Scarcity Spells Survival, guilt, hustle, and unworthiness—and how they keep us trapped. (15:40) – True Abundance Abundance as collapsing the illusion of separation between you and the divine. (17:04) – Daily Practice for Abundance Questions to ask yourself each morning and how to embody gratitude. (19:07) – The Power of Generosity How giving expands abundance instead of depleting it. (20:29) – The Three Levels of Prayer From pleading, to praise, to presencing—and how each shifts your relationship to abundance. (23:52) – Remembering Who You Are Why you are not here to hustle for love or beg for joy—you are abundance itself. Some Questions I Ask: What limiting beliefs about money, love, or time did I inherit from my family? How have I confused gratitude with tolerating crumbs? Do I secretly believe that if I have more, others will have less? Am I hustling to prove my worth, or am I remembering that I am already enough? What feelings or patterns in my nervous system keep me tied to scarcity? In This Episode, You Will Learn: Why scarcity is more than a mindset—it's a spiritual trance and generational conditioning. The four scarcity spells that keep people trapped: survival, guilt, hustle, and unworthiness. How true abundance comes from reconnecting with your infinite nature, not external possessions. This week we're discussing the 5 Daily Practices to Move Out of Survival Mode Life as a single parent often feels like a relentless cycle of responsibilities with no margin to catch your breath. The demands pile up, and it can seem impossible to find peace, let alone joy. That's why today's conversation with Will Acuff, co-founder of Corner to Corner and author of No Elevator to Everest, is so important. Will shares from his own story of despair, healing, and renewal—reminding us that even in the hardest seasons, there are small steps we can take toward wholeness. Today, we cover three main points: How to face despair and grief without pretending everything is fine. The role of daily practices in helping us stay grounded and present. Practical ways to reframe sacrifice so it becomes life-giving instead of depleting. These pain points matter because surviving alone can leave us feeling powerless and stuck. But by naming what's hard, embracing rhythms of care, and reframing sacrifice, we rediscover hope. As Will reminds us, healing often starts with small, intentional steps—breathing, journaling, or simply noticing what sparks joy. When we allow ourselves to lament, practice radical responsibility for our own well-being, and cultivate rhythms that connect us with ourselves and with God, we begin to see that life is not just something to endure. It can be rebuilt, reshaped, and infused with joy again. Discover how starting your day by creating before consuming can shift you from reaction mode to creative flow and completely transform your energy. I know how tempting it is to reach for your phone first thing in the morning. I've been there too, scrolling emails and feeds before even checking in with myself. But I've learned that when I create first, even in the smallest way, everything feels different. This little shift has the power to change your entire day, and I can't wait to share how. Action Steps: - Anchor your energy: Create before outside noise influences your mindset. - Strengthen your voice: Trust your own ideas by putting them first each morning. - Build self-trust: Just ten minutes of output can spark momentum for the whole day. - Start small: Journal, sketch, record a memo, or open a draft, keep it simple. - Make it stick: Use rituals, trackers, or accountability partners to stay consistent.
