Our God: A God of Glory and Encounter | Sam Banner | 9.06.24 by St Michael's Church, Chester Square
This week we begin a new sermon series exploring the Bible's emphasis on hearing God's voice and Jesus' ministry to restore humanity's ability to hear God. We're excited to disciple CityLife into becoming people who hear God's voice in normal living.
Sometimes when we look at the state of the world around us, it can be difficult to see where God is at work. How should we respond, as followers of Jesus, when God appears to be silent and absent? This week, Jeremy Little kicked off our new sermon series, Esther: The Hidden Work of God. We can take great encouragement from the story of Esther, a story in which God's name is not directly mentioned, but God's work is evident. God moves through quiet providence in our lives. His unseen hand is active and making everything work together for our good and His glory. You can join our OneLife Sunday morning gatherings via livestream at 9am and 11am CST every Sunday morning. Rev. Rodney Henderson Psalm 96
Pastor Dave Martin preaches a sermon based on Isaiah 11:1-10.
One of the ways to understand our awesome God is to look into the meaning of His names as revealed in Scripture. In this message, we look at Gods encounter with Moses in the burning bush. This was the first time God revealed Himself personally as Jehovah. God not only revealed His name - but His essence as the great I AM - the only eternal, unchanging, self-sufficient God. The faithful God who keeps His promises and who calls us to join His redemptive mission.
That question is a little bit of a hard hitter, right? But it's a very real question! On this episode we talk about trusting God, trusting others... and Christmas. Here's the devotional: https://www.bible.com/en/reading-plans/13463
Part Five of Trouble, Trial - Faith fro William W. Sasser Jr
I believe Jesus’s teachings were showing us that God is abundant. But, my default mind set is about me being a certain way or doing certain things to win His favor or avoid His punishment. So, by default I perceive God as being of scarcity and the relationship is transactional. But, what if God is abundant like Jesus taught. Then, maybe all my experiences are opportunities to transform through God.
In this message, Pastor Chris explores the story of King Jehoshaphat in the Old Testament and how God fights on behalf of his people. We learn that God never asks us for our strength, but only for our surrender. His strength is made perfect in our weakness!

Soteriology 101: Former Calvinistic Professor discusses Doctrines of Salvation
Dr. Leighton Flowers, Director of Evangelism and Apologetics for Texas Baptists, answers a question about the way God is presented in the OT as in comparison to what we see from Christ in the NT. Is the God of the OT a "provisional" God who really desires the salvation of all? Ezk 18:30-32: Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall. 31 Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, people of Israel? 32 For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent and live! December 17, 2017, Making God a god, Isaiah 7:10-12, Doug Crawford
You might have heard someone say that God is a God of love, but He is also a God of justice. It this true? Must God punish people for their sin? Does God punish people for sin? While it is true that God is both merciful and just, both forgiving and just, the question is How? This study of Jonah 4:7 explains more.
