A cura di Fiorenza Pistocchi e Gian Luca MargheritiRacconti di: Erica Arosio, Elisabetta Berti Arnoaldi, Mauro Biagini, Giancarlo Bosini, Marco Donna, Donatella Genovese, Arrigo Geroli, Rossana Girotto, Giorgio Maimone, Gian Luca Margheriti, Maddalena Molteni, Livia Negri, Davide Palmarini, Angelo Pappadà, Alida Parisi, Fiorenza Pistocchi, Paola Varalli, Gloria Vellini, Anna Versi Masini.

In this Webworm podcast, a story I've been working on for some time. Just over a year ago — in March of 2024 — I got an email from Jake. He had a story he wanted to tell, and he wanted to find a way to tell it that could help others. A warning, of sorts. And so over the last year, as a court case played out — I've been working on this story. It takes place in and around CityLife church in Melbourne. And while this story is a warning, I also think it's a story about the truth, justice, and pushing back against institutions that allow abuse to happen. This piece discusses emotional and physical abuse that may be distressing for some readers, so please take care when reading. For more see https://www.webworm.co This is a public episode. For 60 years, New York composer Steve Reich has been one of classical music's most celebrated revolutionaries. Pioneering minimalism in the 1960s, a musical style based on repetition and shifting rhythms, his strange experiments with cassette tape led to orchestral masterpieces – now performed around the world. His career has not only helped define the latest era of classical music, but had an enormous influence on pop, rock and electronica. He has helped shape 20th Century music in a way few can claim to match. To mark 60 years since his first major piece,1965's It's Gonna Rain, he takes Alastair Shuttleworth through the process and stories behind some of his greatest works, including Clapping Music, Different Trains and City Life. He also reflects on his legacy, his plans for the future and what, at the age of 88, still inspires him to compose

Never has paying rent been quite so elaborate. Even when it's rent you're not paying, for a piece of land you don't use anymore. It's confusing. The City of London goes to town with the pomp and processions, and we are here to explain all. In fact this year (unlike all the others) we are determined to make it to some of these events. Get your diaries at the ready if you'd like to join us. There's the Boar's Head procession, by the Butchers. The Carmen do the cart marking. City Freemen with their sheep crossing the river. And 61 nails getting handed back and forth, for eternity. Every year since.... well, who is going to have the oldest ceremony? It's a lost in the mists of time face off between Fiona and Alex. We don't just cross the river, we go upstream for the Doggett's Coat and Badge, and then even further up to check who owns those swans. I want to hear "Good service" "Good Number" and "Whack it boys, whack it!" A lesson for us all. John Stow's inscription: "Either do things worth writing about, or write things worth reading". Here at Ladies Who London we hope we do things worth talking about, and talk about things worth doing. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Adam transitioned from city life to homesteading during the pandemic, adapting to the challenges and joys of raising dairy cows and embracing regenerative farming practices. From tackling a lack of electricity with a 12-volt milking system to utilizing bale grazing for winter pasture management, Adam provides practical insights and valuable lessons learned along the way.Adam's story doesn't stop with cattle. His passion for sustainable living stretches into the world of beekeeping—a journey fueled by a lifelong love for honey. Discover how Adam moved from traditional methods to a more natural, minimalist approach, focusing on techniques like swarm trapping and the use of horizontal hives. This approach not only enhances insulation but also minimizes disturbances during inspections, allowing bees to thrive with minimal human intervention. Adam's experiences demonstrate how beekeeping can be a rewarding complement to any homestead.Rounding out this enlightening episode, we delve into the broader benefits that honeybees bring to rural properties, enhancing garden and pasture growth through superior pollination. For those eager to try their hand at stacking enterprises, Adam shares a wealth of resources and practical tips, from must-read books to essential tools.
