English Sermon (03/14/21) - B.L.E.S.S - Jesus’ Mission Our Mission (John 4:1-26) Do you ever feel like you face the same routine everyday? Same school, same job, same family, same friends, etc. For many of us, we are often doing the things we “have to” do, but what would it look like if we switch from just surviving into truly thriving? What if instead of doing things we “have to” do, we turn to things we “HAVE TO” do with passion and purpose? In John 4, Jesus decided that he and his disciples HAD TO pass through Samaria because his mission was to reach Samaritans through a Samaritan woman. At the well, Jesus told the Samaritan woman that he can give ‘living water’ for which she will never thirst again and also revealed to her that he is the Messiah. She believed and became a witness to others. Through her testimony, many who lived in that town also came to know Jesus. Because Jesus’ mission was to reach others, all of us who claim to be followers of Christ also have the same mission to do so. We can love others and fulfill our mission by REACH-ing, RESTORE-ing and REPRODUCE-ing.

Mary K. (@AngelasBraPurse) guest hosts on this episode. We talk sh*t about absolutely EVERYONE and weigh in on who’s a good couple, who’s likely to stay together (pretty much no one), and who’s a major asswipe (almost everyone). We love Julia, hate Brandon (who blames Julia for the pregnancy scare), celebrate Yara’s sarcastic humor, and agree that Natalie is probably a serial killer, even though *maybe* Mike’s behavior was more suspicious than we previously thought. Even though we vowed never to cover Stephanie and Ryan again, we HAD TO, because…OMG, did you SEE this episode? We agree that Rebecca and Zied truly love each other, but point out that love is not enough to make a marriage successful. Throuples don’t work — prove us wrong. Let Mary know how much you love her! If you are deaf you obviously don’t listen to podcasts  — just like if you are blind you obviously don’t watch videos… except that’s not true, or at least that’s a very limited way to consider the question. And you are missing a whole segment of the population!" ~Andrea Klunder I just HAD TO pop into the feed with a long overdue bossy solo episode! Something just came up recently that took me into an impromptu research project and really got the wheels turning around marketing, growth and sustainability from a values based angle. Have you ever thought about making your show/ your content MORE accessible to MORE people?  Let me be more specific – have you ever thought about how someone who is deaf or hard of hearing may experience your podcast? So I decided to do a little research and compile what I am calling my best practices for inclusion of deaf and hard of hearing audience members. These recommendations are by no means exhaustive, nor have I even gotten so far as to implement all of these practices myself, but rather, I am offering this as a starting place for conversation around guidelines and best practices for this particular segment of the audience. “In order to achieve your long-term goals, you need to first learn how to WIN THE DAY.” This is the gem that former NFL player turned entrepreneur Keith Hunter dropped in a chat box during a recent LIVE online event, and we just HAD TO learn more. In this episode of “I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY”, Keith shares how he naturally segued from being an athlete into becoming a college football coach, pro golf instructor, book author, public speaker, and business owner. He explains that excelling in sports taught him valuable lessons that are applicable to life and business situations. However, the key challenges to overcome are staying focused, being attentive to emerging opportunities, and tackling each day with success, while keeping your eye on the big picture, in order to finish strong. For example, Keith noticed that young girls and women were being overlooked in golf. So, he opened his clinics to students as young as four years old and developed a program, supported by corporate sponsorships, that enabled young girls to learn golf…and his business to flourish!

I was so excited to go to our very first big-time-legit medical cannabis conference because they were going to have a panel on Cannabis and Alzheimer's Disease! Dave was not as excited as I was cuz it was really expensive. We put it on a credit card, dressed in our cannabis-best and headed out to this very expensive medical conference that we below-the-line-film-workers had no real business attending. But I just HAD TO go! There were literally thousands of doctors, nurses, and researchers from all over the world gathered at one of California's most prestigious universities to talk about how cannabis heals. Incredibly powerful and validating experience for me. The meeting space for the Cannabis and Alzheimer's panel was huge, and it was packed. People lined the walls and every seat was taken. It was clear that people are looking for answers to what might help dementia. The panel had no doctors in practice, no clinicians. There was a well known Alzheimer's researcher, a plant researcher and a research doctor from Canada. And their message to the thousands in attendance was grim…”well, maybe there might be some help, but we need more studies before we try it...and big pharma won't ever do it cuz you can't make money on plants...” was the gist. I was beside myself. I had to tell those people that cannabis helped my mom! So I got up to “ask a question” and so did a remarkable clinician, Dr.Jeff Hergenrather who at the time was the president of the Society of Cannabis Clinicians and was treating dozens of people living with dementia in Northern California with primarily 1:1 CBD:THC ratio cannabis oil with great success! We bonded immediately. They say people bond over shared trauma. It was unconscionable that the panel would keep this information from everyone in attendance. The progress of breaking the stigma that cannabis prohibition caused is like a cha-cha: two steps forward, one step back. We sat down with Dr. Hergenrather to talk about his work with people living with dementia in Northern California. We discuss dosing for older folks, starting low and going slow and about our own endocannabinoid system. A couple of the things we discuss are referenced here for you, and check out the glossary at the end of these notes also. Patent # 6630507B1 held by the United States Department of Health since 1998 specifically for neuroprotection. “...cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and HIV dementia…” Care and Feeding of the Endocannabinoid System: A Systematic Review of Potential Clinical Interventions that Upregulate the Endocannabinoid System John M. One of the most common client obstacles that I hear is "I don't have time to do healthy things for myself, exercise, meal prep, etc!" We all know how easy it is to get a little stuck in a typical daily process. We wake up, get the kids off to school, go to work, visit with kids after school, go to bed, and repeat. The problem with this is that our life regimen slowly starts to squeeze out all of the lifestyle that we had dreamed of achieving. Our goal today is to help you analyze how you are spending your hours and then put together a process to help you add more quality hours to your day.....every day.
