Columbus appears to be on track to keep an important promise: The Columbus Promise. The innovative education partnership launched in 2021 with the goal of sending more Columbus City School graduates to college, boosting their own life trajectories and helping Central Ohio supercharge its workforce. The Columbus Promise lets any graduate of Columbus City Schools attend Columbus State Community College at no cost for six semesters and provides a $500 stipend each semester plus academic support.  Now the Promise is no longer just a pilot. The program's key partners – the City of Columbus, Columbus City Schools, I Know I Can, and Columbus State – and an array of private backers – have all recently recommitted to launching a new phase of the program, with more than half of a new $25 million goal already raised.  With a panel of leaders, we unpack the Columbus Promise, explore its origins and impact, and get an inside look at what happens next. Featuring Dr. Angela Chapman, Superintendent/CEO, Columbus City Schools Janelle Coleman, Vice President, Community Engagement & Corporate Philanthropy and President, AEP Foundation Shannon Hardin, President, Columbus City Council  Dr. Desiree Polk-Bland, Senior Vice President for Student Success, Columbus State Community College The moderator is Colleen Marshall, News Anchor, NBC4, and host of "NBC4's The Spectrum." While it's not quite a covid episode, you might say the pandemic inspires the topics discussed. All around us, and at every level of our profession, The Great Resignation is real. It's hitting admissions offices particularly hard. How does this rapid turnover, large number of admissions counselors who've never experienced a travel season, and changing expectations of families impact staff development? We are fortunate to have two guests ready to address these topics with us. Marion Meadows, Director of County Programs at I Know I Can in Columbus, Ohio and President-Elect of Ohio ACAC brings insight to how students, counselors, and CBOs are responding to admissions counselors and how that should inform our staff development decisions. Seinquis Leinen, Director of Admission at North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota, and President of Dakota ACAC discusses how she is approaching staff development in this new normal. The entire season isn't about covid, we promise. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/adlunchcast/message

Industry Leaders from the world of Beauty & Fashion providing thought provoking insights from Inspiring minds. Guests are interviewed on their experiences in both Fashion and Beauty and offer the Beauty Fashion and War audience guidance, wisdom and candor on what?s hot and what?s not in the industry of Beauty and Fashion. Guests are encouraged to be honest, to have fun and give our audience the most authentic answers from their vast experience in this sometimes superfluous industry. A key differentiating factor from other Podcasts that discuss Beauty and Fashion is our desire to discuss spirituality and the key components of professionals in this industry and how applying makeup or designing that perfect outfit, is in fact shifting negative mindset?s and providing a deeper sense of empowerment for both clients and industry experts alike. This is Beauty, Fashion and War! Hosted by Cleo Caban, a decorated war veteran whose spent almost a decade through out the Middle East as a Counter Intelligence Special Agent. Don?t get left behind!   Julian Gunder Bio  Julian launched his first “business” in elementary school. He wanted to have all the latest and greatest   toys that Toys R Us had to offer and thought of a way to get them without asking his parents for money.   He and a fellow 5th grader sold their old toys to other students in the school and used that money to  buy new toys. The resulting cycle solidified his position as the self-made toy kingpin of his elementary school.  The San Diegan carried his affinity for business to Howard University, where he majored in Business   Marketing. Just 10 days after graduating, he began a fulfilling career in Advertising with The New York   Times and went on to work at The Economist and Black Enterprise, establishing a successful career in   the media industry at a young age. Although he enjoyed working in media, his desire to inspire youth in low income neighborhoods to go to   college grew until it reached a tipping point that resulted in the launch of his business, ILoveCollege.Org.   As a result of being a long time youth mentor, Julian realized that students love fashion and music. So he   decided to use those avenues to inspire students to reach their full potential. ILoveCollege Clothing and   ILoveCollege Entertainment creates apparel and live events that bring out the fun and exciting elements of the college experience. Julian’s goal is to change the negative mentality that too many students have towards education by making School Cool. LIL ZAE SITE My Name is Lil’Zae and I’m from Greenville NC and I’m a songwriter/Music artist. I have  wanted to be a rapper ,Singer and Dancer ever since I was 5 years old growing up listening to Bow Wow ,Chris Brown, Ludacris and Busta Rhymes. I started rapping when I was 8 years old my mom thought I was just playing until she heard my music. I have been influenced by Ludacris ,Nas ,Outkast, and the Black Eye Peas . I was inspired more by the lyrics of Nas and the moves of Michael Jackson.  What inspired me to write the music that I write today was hearing “ I know I can” by Nas  that song really touched me because I know that I can do anything I put my mind to.  Growing up around music I was mainly focus on lyrics and picturing them when I heard “I Know I Can”. I was just a little kid myself listening to a song that had changed my life so now I’m just thankful and blessed to be here so I can try to keep up Nas’s legacy and to have fun being a good role model for my little sister who has Sickle Cell Disease .I’m working on My EP album and my Mix tape that will also be out shortly my first single was actually a song I dedicated to my Aunt called “Love & Dedication” who actually means a lot to me that single was something people could relate to . My Newest Single Called “Our Year” featuring K-smoov and Alisha D will be a song for the whole world to relate to especially kids who experience the same exact stuff that we cover in the song. They will have someone they can see as an idol and we hope that our music will inspire them to aim high. Right now we are feature in a sitcom called All 4 My Love we really enjoyed doing that it gave us a chance to meet a lot of different people. We are currently on Tour with a fashion show called F.A.M.E. and we are having fun traveling.  I would definitely describe my music as something that is motivational, different, and fun. I guarantee you all will love it.
