À la veille de la nuit européenne des Musées, on a choisi de pousser la porte du musée Guimet, le musée national des arts asiatiques qui proposera demain une programmation spéciale tournée vers l'art et la sculpture du Cambodge. Et pour cause : Guimet abrite depuis quelques semaines l'exposition Bronzes royaux d'Angkor, un art du divin avec en vedette -s'il est permis de parler ainsi d'une divinité - le grand Vishnou du Mebone. Un bronze monumental qui a fait le voyage de Pnom Penh à Paris il y a un an pour y être analysé, restauré et donc aujourd'hui présenté au public. Certains parlent de lui comme de la «Joconde du Cambodge» pour attester de son importance dans la statuaire khmère. Hi friends, happy Wednesday! You know, after living in Los Angeles for a few years, I've learned a lot. Like, for example, if you tell people you live in LA, the first thing they ask about is celebrities.  Who have I seen? What were they like? Am I friends with Kris Jenner? It's always the same question. LA is huge and a lot of people don't realize it has a *crazy* history. Hollywood and celebrity culture is just one small part of it.  We've covered some LA history here on Dark History a couple of times. We did an episode on the Chicano Movement, and we even did one the Zoot Suit Riots.  During my research for those episodes, I came across an event I had never heard of… the Chinese Massacre of 1871. You might think by the name, this massacre happened in China.  But turns out, it happened right here in Los Angeles. It was essentially a mass murder killing spree, targeting Chinese American communities.  I wanted to do this episode because it's one of those stories where I thought to myself: why aren't they teaching this in school? Why has it gotten brushed under the rug and lost to history? The Met Gala is next Monday and I found a (unofficial ) list of who might be in attendance. There is no shortage of A list celebrities attending the glamorous event. SNL has released their upcoming hosts and musical guests up until the middle of May. Addison Rae is changing her name to just Addison. She says she feels that she has outgrown Addison Rae and now wants to start her new music career as Addison. The popular band Green Day, who just headlined at Coachella, will be getting their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I saw Sinners this week and yes it is as good as everyone says it is. I also saw the new Daisy Edgar-Jones and Jacob Elordi movie, On Swift Horses, and it has quickly become one of my favorites.
