These experts and thought leaders offer the Beauty Fashion and War audience guidance, wisdom and a spiritual candor not typical. / / Guests are encouraged to be genuine and to have fun whilst sharing their stories of success and failures along their pathway to prosperity and success. / / This podcast is hosted by Cleo Caban, a decorated Counter Intelligence Combat Veteran, that served in both the Iraq and Afghanistan theaters of operation.   Clint Arthur Bio’s : CLINT ARTHUR is a graduate of the Wharton School of Business, the GKIC Info-Marketer of The Year, a successful entrepreneur with over a decade of experience running his own gourmet food company, and the #1 Bestselling author of "Break Through Your Upper Limits on TV," “The Greatest Book of All Time,” “The Last Year Of Your Life,” “Daddy Loves You,” and “What They Teach You At The Wharton Business School.” His famous personal transformation experiences, keynote speeches, and frequent appearances on Network TV and syndicated radio shows inspire millions of people to live larger, more intensely, and with more impact on the world. After studying Creative Writing with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Frank McCourt, Clint went on to graduate from the Wharton Business School, then pursued the Hollywood Dream for more than a decade, hitting a crisis point on New Year’s Eve of The Millennium when he became terrified that 5+ years of driving a taxi to survive would be irreversible career suicide. He quit writing, dove into an intense transformational period of self-help and personal development work, and focussed on making money for the next 8 years, becoming fat and happy. Obese, actually. As the economy collapsed in 2008, Clint was at a men’s self-help meeting when the shaman pointed at Clint across the yellow and orange crackling flames of the camp-fire and said, “You don’t know it yet, but you’re already dead.” Inspired by that, Clint lived 2009 as if it was going to be the last year of his life. He lost 40-lbs. (and has maintained that weight-loss), built a factory which allowed his business to thrive during The Great Recession and beyond, wrote his book about the timeless lessons he learned at Wharton (which would become his first bestseller,) and revived his crumbling marriage. All of this reaffirmed the wisdom he learned at Wharton about being a well-rounded, healthy, happy, and self-expressed person, and led Clint in the direction of Local TV Publicity, where he has since appeared on 59 Local and National TV News & Talk shows across America, and has helped Clients book themselves on more than 1995+ appearances since 2012. Most recently, Clint was anointed Dan Kennedy’s “GKIC Info-Marketer Of The Year.” His clients include Authors, Speakers, Coaches, Doctors, Dentists, Psychologists, Entrepreneurs, Television Personalities, Leaders and Messengers who are committed to impacting the world in a huge way using Mass Media TV appearances as the vehicle. He also serves the top chefs in America and hospitality industry leaders such as Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Hilton, Starwood, JW Marriott, MGM-Mirage, US Foods, and Sysco through his Five Star Butter Co. I played around with it for a few years using my business skills to negotiate volunteer modeling opportunities for both photo shoots and runway shows. At age 41 entered and won the 2011 Wilhelmina modeling agency 40+ national model search. Joining the beautiful girls on the Wilhelmina modeling board, I started “real” modeling, booked my first catalog job, and failed miserably. I decided to learn what real models actually do, hiring my photographer friend who modeled herself for 20 years, to teach me how to catalog model and how to model with my face. I continued to find other opportunities for myself, including shooting campaigns for Requisite Clothing, SUDZZfx, and Stiletto Clothing. I launched the Yellow Brick Runway blog and began organizing collaboration photo shoots with the goal of getting published in magazines. We created “The Anguished Bride” and “Celebrity Revitalization”. Both stories were successfully published. I’m not Madonna, so it was highly unlikely that H&M or BCBG would hire me for a their campaign, so I made my own. I also produced a vintage train station editorial inspired by my French grandmother. I am now 45 and I continue to explore what we can do with fashion and “older ladies”. It can be quite comical really, trying to figure out story lines that make sense in the world of youth oriented fashion. My goal is not to be the next Gisele Bundchen or Karlie Kloss- these beauties deserve every accolade that they get from their adoring public- nor to be the most beautiful, the youngest, or the thinnest.  My passion is simply inspired by expressing myself artistically in the beautiful world of fashion. I don’t attach much important to who likes or doesn’t like what I’m doing. My goal for this blog is to give you an intimate and engaging look at how we work together to bring our inspirations to fruition, and my wish is that it will inspire you to chase your own passions and dreams. Onwards and Upwards!   Sincerely, Jacqueline Must Read’s: Purple Cow, by Seth Godin Look Inside on Amazon – Click Here Description: You're either a Purple Cow or you're not. Don?t get left behind!   Linda Eisner Bio Linda Eisner is the founder and head pencil pusher of Quality Pencils Inc. Quality Pencils Inc. is a high quality manufacturer of wood & plastic cosmetic pencils for lip, eye, brow & hair art. Linda has over 25 years’ experience in the private label cosmetics industry. She has secured her place as an industry expert, not only in cosmetic pencils but also in how to private label manufactured cosmetics. Her company specializes in private label and contract manufacturing of slim & jumbo cosmetic pencils. We also market two of our own brands, Pencil Me In, natural eyeliner pencils and Graff*Etch hair art pencils which we will be discussing today. The idea of Graff*Etch began at Premiere in Orlando in 2009. Linda was exhibiting Pencil Me In.  At the show, several barbers appeared at the booth to purchase Linda’s eyeliner pencils. It turns out the barbers were creating designs with their clippers and wanted to use her eyeliner pencils to color in the designs. The hair art looked amazing!!  At that moment, Linda realized she had to sell pencils for hair.  Initially she thought her eyeliner pencil brand would be perfect for hair art.  What she discovered is cosmetic pencils do not meet the special requirements for application on short hair and on the scalp. Graff*Etch, combines graffiti and barber etching and was released in July 2010. Linda recently released an e-book teaching the secrets for enhancing hair art.  It is called “How To Use Graff*Etch Color Pencils To Create Hair Art & Barber Design.”  Her teachng manual can be downloaded for Free at www.BarbersArt.com.  For the complete Graff*Etch story and to purchase visit www.GraffEtch.com. Don?t get left behind!   Julian Gunder Bio  Julian launched his first “business” in elementary school. He wanted to have all the latest and greatest   toys that Toys R Us had to offer and thought of a way to get them without asking his parents for money.   He and a fellow 5th grader sold their old toys to other students in the school and used that money to  buy new toys. The resulting cycle solidified his position as the self-made toy kingpin of his elementary school.  The San Diegan carried his affinity for business to Howard University, where he majored in Business   Marketing. Just 10 days after graduating, he began a fulfilling career in Advertising with The New York   Times and went on to work at The Economist and Black Enterprise, establishing a successful career in   the media industry at a young age. Although he enjoyed working in media, his desire to inspire youth in low income neighborhoods to go to   college grew until it reached a tipping point that resulted in the launch of his business, ILoveCollege.Org.   As a result of being a long time youth mentor, Julian realized that students love fashion and music. So he   decided to use those avenues to inspire students to reach their full potential. ILoveCollege Clothing and   ILoveCollege Entertainment creates apparel and live events that bring out the fun and exciting elements of the college experience. With a vision to build a modern skin care brand that delivers products that are relevant to the needs of today’s consumers, Hilling challenges Skin Authority to continually integrate the most advanced ingredients and techniques in its products, and to deliver a unique 360-degree customer service experience using integrated technology to reach consumers cost-effectively wherever and however they prefer to be contacted. “Healthy skin is beautiful, so it is important to me that our products produce not only dramatic cosmetic results, but also boost and defend the immune strength of our body’s largest organ.” Hilling reflects this passion in the company’s decision to eliminate added fragrances, dyes, and parabens from its products. She personally oversaw the launch of its grounding breaking SGF-4 Technology™ products designed around four natural nourishing proteins or skin growth factors, developed specifically to target and reprogram the aging process of skin cells. Working with world recognized leader the Dole Nutrition Institute, she also led the charge for making skin care an extension of good nutrition by introducing the first whole food source of Vitamin D in the VitaD Fortified™ series from Skin Authority. Her vision is to turn today’s passive skin care shopping experience into a high touch, high impact, personalized experience. Because of this, Hilling handpicks Skin Authority distribution partners from among the most prestigious retail and spa locations. Prior to launching Skin Authority, Hilling was key in developing two companies that were acquired by the leading publicly held company in its industry segment. In both instances, Hilling was a strategic officer: Steiner Leisure Ltd., as President/CEO of the Day Spa Group; and Compaq Computer Corporation as President, Consumer Software Business Unit and Vice President, Consumer Division. In addition to being a busy executive, mom and spokesperson, Hilling also makes time to give back to her community. Hilling is Chairman of the Board of the San Diego New Children’s Museum, Past Co-Chair and Honorary Member of the Advisory Board of Scripps Memorial Hospital of La Jolla, California, a founding board member of Doctors Offering Charitable Services (DOCS), and past board member of the Boards of the International Spa Association and ISPA Foundation. Creating designs full of hope, beauty and passion feeds my soul. I have spent many years in the interior/architectural design community, wearing many hats, like drafter, designer, estimator, project manager and salesperson. With every passing day, more and more ideas flood my brain as to where I want KDD to go....right now, the sky is the limit.Hard work is different when you love what you are doing and why you are doing it. Industry Leaders from the world of Beauty & Fashion providing thought provoking insights from Inspiring minds. Guests are interviewed on their experiences in both Fashion and Beauty and offer the Beauty Fashion and War audience guidance, wisdom and candor. Anya Olwen Bio Anya Olwen is no ordinary trainer. An accomplished athlete at a very young age, her curiosity about how things work brought her to the science fields; she wanted to know everything she could about the inner workings behind physical training and strengthening. Her background includes extensive education and training in fitness and wellness; sports, and chemistry and biotechnology. Even as a young girl, Anya drew inspiration from her athletic involvement. She found that her character was strengthening through not only the intense dedication that was required, but through the power of being part of a team; what she was able to contribute to others, and what others were contributing to her; the very selflessness of teamwork left an indelible mark on Anya's character. Functional Training and Anya's Philosophy Anya's specialty is Functional Training; a classification of exercise which involves training the body for activities performed in day-to-day life—it is derived from the work of Physical Therapists.  Anya is committed to increasing quality of life through exercise, and Functional Training is designed to work your body as one unit, restoring balance where there might be (and often is) imbalance.  While she is no fan of sedentary living; she is just as impassioned when it comes to the damage caused by singling out and overworking specific body parts. "Abs of Ridiculous Ripples," "Hollywood Hills Muscle Monsters" do not give you health or functionality! We use the entirety of our body to live our lives, so to over-build one area leaves the rest functionally weaker.  More importantly, working muscle groups at that level of isolation leads to joint problems and ultimately bone realignment, which can compromise your internal organs. A balanced, purposeful program gets you looking good—that's right, even naked—but more importantly, it brings ease to the simple tasks of living, such as getting up the stairs quickly; playing on the ground or running around outside with your kids; moving that desk. Bending, rotation movements—focus on this type of strengthening directly impacts your quality of life. While training the body, we are also training our mind—literally reestablishing the work of the motor unit. This is the neurological brain-muscle connection. Anya is very specific when she trains to ensure her clients are control of each movement. This again draws from the PT world. Anya will renew with you, or in some cases build from scratch, that essential connection between the desire to do something and the actual physicality of doing it. Anya Olwen is an ACSM Certified Fitness Professional and Wellness Coach. She received her Bachelor from Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia. Bulgakov  Look Inside on Amazon - Click Here Description: "The Master and Margarita is a novel by Mikhail Bulgakov, written between 1928 and 1940 but unpublished in book form until 1967. It is woven around a visit by the Devil to the fervently atheistic Soviet Union. Many critics consider it to be one of the best novels of the 20th century, and the foremost of Soviet satires. In part, it is angled against a suffocatingly bureaucratic social order." Perfume: The story of a murderer' by P. Süskind Look Inside on Amazon - Click Here Description: "An acclaimed bestseller and international sensation, Patrick Suskind's classic novel provokes a terrifying examination of what happens when one man's indulgence in his greatest passion—his sense of smell—leads to murder. In the slums of eighteenth-century France, the infant Jean-Baptiste Grenouille is born with one sublime gift-an absolute sense of smell. As a boy, he lives to decipher the odors of Paris, and apprentices himself to a prominent perfumer who teaches him the ancient art of mixing precious oils and herbs. But Grenouille's genius is such that he is not satisfied to stop there, and he becomes obsessed with capturing the smells of objects such as brass doorknobs and frest-cut wood. Then one day he catches a hint of a scent that will drive him on an ever-more-terrifying quest to create the "ultimate perfume"—the scent of a beautiful young virgin. Told with dazzling narrative brillance, Perfume is a hauntingly powerful tale of murder and sensual depravity." American Tragedy by T. Dreiser  Look Inside on Amazon - Click Here Description: "Clyde Griffiths finds his social-climbing aspirations and love for a rich and beautiful debutante threatened when his lower-class pregnant girlfriend gives him an ultimatum. The novel is a tragedy in the strict sense, Clyde's destruction being the consequence of his innate weaknesses: moral and physical cowardice, lack of scruple and self-discipline, muddled intellect and unfocused ambition; additionally, the effect of his ingratiating social manner places temptation in his way which he cannot resist."  100 Years of Solitude by G.G Marquez Look Inside on Amazon - Click Here Description: "One Hundred Years of Solitude is a 1967 novel by Colombian author Gabriel García Márquez that tells the multi-generational story of the Buendía family, whose patriarch, José Arcadio Buendía, founds the town of Macondo, the metaphoric Colombia. The widely acclaimed book, considered by many to be the author's masterpiece, was first published in Spanish in 1967, and subsequently has been translated into thirty-seven languages and has sold more than 30 million copies. The magical realist style and thematic substance of One Hundred Years of Solitude established it as an important, representative novel of the literary Latin American Boom of the 1960s and 1970s, which was stylistically influenced by Modernism (European and North American) and the Cuban Vanguardia literary movement." Guests are interviewed on their experiences in both Fashion and Beauty and offer the Beauty Fashion and War audience guidance, wisdom and candor.   Dr. Michele Summers - Bio As a foot and ankle specialist, I've been working with feet and shoes for over 15 years, and during that time I've been doing research on shoes and, more specifically, on how to make women's shoes feel better. I've taken my medical expertise of the function of the foot and combined it with my shoe research to incorporate advanced cutting-edge technology into high heel shoes to make them feel better, even after a full work day or a night on the town. In doing this, I will show you that we can break that 34 minute barrier. And that is the basis behind our name, 34 Minutes. Let me explain... Do you know how long it takes, on average, for a woman's high heel shoe to begin hurting and pinching her feet? That's right, 34 minutes. Why should women have to suffer after 34 minutes in their heels? Well, we don't have to. We can have better heels. And we can feel better in them. What it takes is the desire and dedication to make a woman's shoe feel as good as it looks, and that is what I have. Some people will say that we have to choose between feeling good and looking good, that we can't have it both ways. Oh, yes we can. We can have both comfort and style. Who says comfortable shoes have to look matronly and unattractive? Who says we can't have comfortable shoes that look sexy and stylish and fashion forward? Who says we can't listen to what women really want? Women want to look good and feel good. Women don't want to have to choose between fashion and comfort. We don't have to choose. We can have it both ways. We can have our cake and eat it too. So I've teamed up with my sisters, both fashion designers, to come up with a line of women's shoes that fuses their fashion forward designs with my patent-pending comfort technology. We invite you to take a look at our designs here and try them on so that you can see for yourself how comfortable a high heel can be if it's made with this in mind. You will love the fit, the feel, the look and come back for more. Cynthia Schames - Bio If you're reading this, chances are you're one of the millions of women who are really frustrated with the experience of trying to shop for clothing. I know exactly how that feels.  My name is Cynthia, the founder and CEO of AbbeyPost. I'm a plus size woman who also happens to be 5'1" and really curvy.  I probably don't have to tell you how much trouble I have always had trying to find things that really fit well, and were attractive, versatile and well made. I founded this company because I was sick of having no idea what size to buy, hassling with mailing back returns, and with the poor quality of most plus size clothing. The truth is, traditional retail ignores the needs of the Plus Size consumer. Shopping for Plus Size clothing can be really frustrating. Sizing varies widely from brand to brand. Retailers are pulling Plus Size out of stores. There are very few places talk about and enjoy fashion if you're above a size 10. And so on. We want to change all that. Must Read’s: The lean Startup Look Inside on Amazon - Click Here Description: "Most startups fail. Their New York City based Salon, ‘The Whittemore-House’ has been featured in almost every major metropolitan magazine to include Time, NY Daily News, Elle, Salon Today, Allure and GQ to name a few. [/shadowbox] Victoria Hunter - Bio Victoria Hunter approaches hair color with the discerning eye of a fine artist. As a pioneer of the “hair painting” genre, Hunter studies every head of hair like a 3 Dimensional canvas – intuitively deciding where to place the perfect pop of auburn or unexpected streak of dusty lavender. While in Hunter’s chair, no creative vision is off limits; over the course of her career, she has made a name for herself as the gold standard of hair color for countless models, cool girls, editors, stylists and celebrities and has become the go-to colorist for famed stylist Guido Palau. A native of Queensland, Australia, Hunter honed her skills in Melbourne, London and Hong Kong before arriving in New York to serve as the color director of Bumble and bumble. In 2007, she achieved widespread recognition for her innovative hair painting method as the first ever recipient of the Hair and Beauty Award at the Colour Secrets Gala in Frankfurt. Two years later, Hunter left Bumble and bumble to open Whittemore House Salon with partner Larry Raspanti. Located in the bucolic setting of a tree-lined street in the West Village, Whittemore House Salon serves as a hub for in-the-know New Yorkers (and beyond). On an average day at Whittemore, one might witness Hunter creating an army of muted pastel wigs for the recent Marc Jacobs Fall 2014 fashion show while simultaneously transforming the model of the moment. Over the course of her career, Hunter has collaborated with some of the most iconic photographers of our time, including Steven Klein, Steven Meisel, Ellen von Unwerth, Mert and Marcus, Inez and Vinoodh, David LaChapelle, and David Sims. Her work has been featured in countless editorials, including American Vogue, Italian Vogue, Numero, ELLE, W, i-D and Interview magazines, to name a few. As one of the most in-demand visionaries in the fashion industry, she has created looks for a laundry list of iconic advertising campaigns, from Dolce & Gabbana to Lanvin to Alexander McQueen. Most recently, Hunter’s work can be seen in campaigns for Prada, Lanvin, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs. This past spring, she teamed up with Steven Meisel to create three cover stories for Italian Vogue. Hunter maintains an ardent passion for her signature hair painting method and continues to lead master classes on the technique around the world, including her main hub of Whittemore House Salon in New York. She believes there is no one “rule” to creating the perfect color, and instead works with stylists to develop an eye for color and tone, texture and style. As a result, the signature of Whittemore House—and of Hunter—is a bespoke look that is at once as effortless and seamless as it is unique. Larry Raspanti - Bio Larry Raspanti has always questioned traditional assumptions about hair and the application of color, which led him to the art of hair painting. Over the years, Larry has developed this modern way of coloring hair, bringing it from its infancy to the elevated craft it is today. He is an authority on men’s fashion and grooming, and is often backstage at fashion events and runways shows. As a result Larry has traveled the world extensively. He approaches hair with the perspective of an architect, deconstructing its three dimensionality, which he expresses both in cut and color. His inherent design capabilities have influenced his highly intuitive cutting techniques. A natural entrepreneur, he opened Whittemore House with Victoria Hunter in 2009.
