This message was preached at New Testament Christian Fellowship in Claremont, NC on December 11, 2022. It's been almost ten years since this exegetical study saw John on the Isle of Patmos in Chapter 1. Now begins the Epilogue of the Book and the Epilogue of the entire Bible in the last chapter of Revelation, the very last chapter of the Bible. Back on the Isle of Patmos, John is given a last exhortation (22:6-15), the final exhortation of the Holy Scriptures. To best contemplate the “lasts” of the Bible, one should consider the “firsts” of the Bible. The particular focus of this message is Revelation 22:6, where the angel exhorts John by hearkening back, not only to the very first verse of the Book (Revelation 1:1), but also to the entire Old Testament. The same God who gave the Revelation of Jesus Christ to John via His angelic messenger “to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass” (1:1) is “the Lord God of the holy prophets” (22:6), the God of the Old Testament. It's all one: ONE GOD, ONE BOOK, ONE BIBLE, ONE INCREDIBLE REVELATION. Therefore, it's last exhortation demands a look at its first exhortation. There is a basic hermeneutic principle for the study of the Scriptures called The Law of the First Mention: The first time something (be it a word, a principle, a concept, or a syntax) appears in the Holy Scriptures, how it appears or is used sets the tone, association, connotation, and/or basic meaning throughout the rest of Scripture. In other words, subsequent appearances are always connected back to the first appearance and should not be divorced from the original connotation. In this message, Jesse Boyd highlights the first mentions of the words love (Genesis 22:2), believe (Genesis 15:6), sin (Genesis 4:7), wicked (Genesis 13:3), and sinner (Genesis 13:13) in the Bible. He then addresses the Bible's VERY LAST EXHORTATION (Revelation 22:6-15) by considering its VERY FIRST EXHORTATION (Genesis 1:27-30).

In the rehearsing spirit of Acts 14:27 before his original sending church, and in the context of testimony from his long walk across America (thelongwalkusa.com), Jesse Boyd outlines the biblical responsibilities of a faithful WATCHMAN as revealed in Isaiah 21. In a nation under God's judgment, a faithful watchman must declare what he sees, warn the people, and maintain his post.

This exhortation was preached on Easter Sunday (4/17/2022) at New Testament Christian Fellowship in Conover, North Carolina by Jesse Boyd while on a short break from his long walk across America (thelongwalkusa.com). We are helpless without a Messiah (Psalm 14)! We are hopeless if there is no Messiah (Psalm 15)! There is a Messiah, and He is risen from the dead (Psalm 16)! For Christians who believe upon the Risen Lord Jesus Christ, what, therefore, ought we to do in these dark days? We must PREACH (Acts 4:33). We must PRAY (Hebrews 4:4-16). We must PREPOSSESS our own guaranteed resurrection (Philippians 3:20-21). In other words, change your focus, stop standing around as silent witnesses to evil deeds, quit living in fear, cease clinging to this world, live your eternal life NOW, repent, stop making excuses for your flesh, and, for Christ's sake, BE SATISFIED.

After some weeks of hiatus, Jesse Boyd resumes his exegetical study of the Book of Revelation by referencing a statement made by Horace Greeley, a New York newspaper editor, more than 150 years ago: “It is impossible to mentally or socially enslave a Bible-reading people.” We are enslaved socially and mentally in America today precisely because we are not a Bible-reading people, precisely because we are not Bible-believing people. Now, as much as ever in church history, the Holy Scriptures are relevant, particularly the Book of Revelation with its unique promised blessing to those who read it, understand it, and keep it (1:3). We must study this book of prophecy; we must heed its red letters written directly to us living in these days. We must confess, believe, and hold fast to its promises. Then, we can never be enslaved. Following a lengthy exhortation to this end and some review of 21:1-8, this message highlights 21:9, and the angel's aside to John: “Come here a minute. Let me show you something!” This aside is contrasted with the aside of 17:1 where the grammatical construction is nearly identical. We cannot fully understand and appreciate the true Bride of Jesus Christ and our position therein (21:9) until we first see the WHORE, the fake church, for what she is and her future judgment (17:1).

This message on REPENTANCE was preached more than 30 years ago by Jesse Laney Boyd, Jr. (paternal grandfather of Jesse Boyd, founder of Full Proof Gospel Ministries). J.L. Boyd served the Lord in ministry for more than 50 years, and this message was preached during his 18-year tenure as pastor of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Greenville, SC. He went home to be with the LORD in 1991. Sadly, this type of sober biblical preaching concerning repentance is nigh extinct today in America. REPENTANCE is not an offer or a suggestion. Neither is is a bit of good advice from the Lord. It is GOD’S ULTIMATUM, and “except ye repent, he shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3,5).

This sermon was preached by Jesse Boyd at New Testament Christian Fellowship in Conover, NC on January 20, 2019. The focus thereof is John’s interaction with the angel in 19:10 and the simple truth declared: “for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” True prophecy points to and testifies of the Messiah, AND to have the Spirit of Jesus is to know the future, a future already purposed and written down. The difference between a born-again Christian and a professing Christian is that the born-again man knows where he is going when he dies, he knows where the unsaved family members have gone or are going, he knows what is going to take place on this earth in the next 50 years, he knows the ultimate future of all things. In concluding, this message also touches upon the first phrase of verse 11: “And I saw heaven opened.” The third heaven is opened twice in Revelation. In 4:1-3, someone goes up (John is raptured); and in 19:1, someone comes down (definitely not the white horse imposter of 6:2).

"It is written" are truly three profound and powerful words. In a day when a lot of ministries, churches, and so-called Christians lightly esteem the Holy Bible and somehow think they can have a relationship with the Living Word of God apart from the Written Word of God, it behooves us to consider the inseparable relationship between Christ and the Bible and the traits that both the Living Word and the Written Word do share. Otherwise, it can prove very, very dangerous. To properly wield God’s Word (i.e. rightly dividing the word of truth), we must bathe our study in prayer, approach the Bible in faith, take a closer look, mind the context, interpret Scripture with Scripture, and be doers of the Word. This message was preached on April 23, 2017 at New Testament Christian Fellowship in Conover, North Carolina. It begins with an overview of Chapter 14, the victory campaign in the age-old war between the dragon (Satan) and the woman (Israel). This victory campaign is unveiled in four snapshots: assembly (14:1-5), judgment (14:6-12), rest (14:13), and reaping (14:17-20). Next, the focus shifts to verse 8, the second of three angelic messages broadcast in the snapshot of judgment, that which announces the fall of Babylon, the world system, the body politic. Will the literal city of Babylon be rebuilt in the last days? What are the two primary arms of the world system? What are the origins of the world's politic? Jesse Boyd attempts to answer these questions and then goes back to Genesis 4 to discuss the origin of the false world system, it's pre-Flood legacy, and genealogical gems that show a clear witness of God amidst a corrupt world politic from Adam down to the days of Noah, a period of 1,656 years. The message concludes by briefly touching upon Noah and his sons after the Flood, the spirit of Cain that endures, and the groundwork that is laid for the rise of Babel. The world system and the witness of God amidst this corruption will be traced yet further (i.e. from Shem to Nimrod to Abraham to Moses to Daniel to Antichrist) in the sermon that follows.
