Over the next decade, Anne continued honing her writing and editing skills at publications such as Vanity Fair, Marie Claire, and Brides, and in 2012 took on the role of the editor in chief at Marie Claire. Over her eight-year tenure, she brought her editorial voice to the magazine and created new projects like the Image Maker Awards and Power Trip. In 2016, a devastating personal loss made Anne realize there was still so much work to be done in women's health, and in 2019, she left her post to found Alloy Women's Health with her friend Monica Molenaar. In 2021, they raised $3.3 million in seed funding and launched the company with a telehealth service to allow women access to crucial hormone prescriptions. Over the last five years, they've scaled and expanded Alloy to include in-depth consultations with physicians and customized treatment plans with prescription and over-the-counter products while achieving profitability within just three years.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

“Where passion meets frustration creates motivation.” Erin Pash is the co-founder and CEO of Ellie Mental Health—one of the fastest growing franchise chains you've probably never heard of—yet. The Mendota Heights-based company opened its first franchise clinic in July 2022. Now there are more than 200 Ellie Mental Health clinics open around the country with another 450 sold and under development. Pash is driven by the desire to destigmatize mental health care by building a national mental health care brand that makes care accessible and fun while also creating a flexible work environment for therapists. Pash is a licensed therapist who saw a bigger opportunity. “We wanted to create a hybrid employment model where we could give therapists safety, security and support while providing them with the culture, creativity and compensation they could get in their own private practice.” Pash talks about barrier to mental health care, the rising demand for services and how that's driving more therapists not to accept insurance, which creates barriers to entry for those who need it. She talks about building her business, one practice at a time, and coming to identify herself as an entrepreneur more than a therapist. “There are two paths to successful business. One is you're an entrepreneur and you try 20 things and one sticks. You're passionate about entrepreneurship. The other is you're passionate about one thing and because you're so passionate, people can't help but want to join you. That's me.” Following our conversation with Pash, we go back to the classroom with the University of St. Thomas Opus College of Business where Mike Porter is a marketing professor. He talks about the importance of a passionate founder and the marketing conundrum in the mental health field. “Not everybody wants to talk about mental health or say, oh, I went to this amazing clinic.” Porter talks about why franchising makes sense. “She's starting with community."

I've been in love with the bright, punchy and delicious Rude Health brand since it launched in 2006. Originally a muesli business, Rude Health's revenue now comes predominantly from alt. milks, although this is something Camilla never would have imagined when they first launched them!A well-known and much-loved brand in 4 major markets, Rude Health is admired for it's brightly coloured boxes and cartons which inject joy into mornings across the U.K, Portugal & Benelux.Co-founder Camilla Barnard began the business 18 years ago with her ex-husband, with the intention of making healthier eating a celebration, not a sacrifice for as many people as they could. Compared to the expectations of many founders starting out today, you could say that the business has grown relatively slowly, however there's a massive upside to this: Rude Health is still over 90% privately owned, with their only 'major' minor shareholder being....PepsiCo! Here are the top 5 things you'll learn : Camilla didn't know much about running a product-based business, let alone a food business, before she started, and why this mattered. How Rude Health's earliest vision was always MASSIVE: to make healthy eating a celebration, not a sacrifice. How Camilla is obsessed asking the right questions to her shoppers, consumers and retail buyers, and learn how you can do this too.  What the brand-design process for the Rude Health brand looked like, in detail. What the 'clothing' your brand wears says about it in terms of when and how to use it, and whether it's for you or not... Why Rude Health has chosen to play mainly in Grocery Retail and not Online  How Rude health split their marketing budget now vs. 3 years ago The role of new product development in their business and how this has changed over time How to recruit the right people for your business - is it skill, experience or mindset? Women's health needs are not a-one-size-fits-all, so why should your vitamins be? Doctors recommend pregnant women take prenatal vitamins, but what should perimenopausal women take or post menopausal? No matter where you are in your reproductive cycle, Alex Taylor, the co-founder and co-CEO of women's wellness brand Perelel, set forth to solve those supplemental needs.  Alex became a self-proclaimed wellness buff after navigating her own thyroid diagnosis, and she's no stranger to products with a purpose after years working in the fashion and wellness space. She first grew intimately aware of the lack of transparency and education available in the prenatal-vitamin market when she was pregnant with her first child. That led her to begin customizing a prenatal regimen for herself. Searching for a solution, she launched Perelel: the first/only OB-GYN founded vitamin brand that meets you wherever you are on your journey as a mom. Perelel is pioneering a new standard for supporting women with vitamins for every stage of their reproductive life cycle. Previously, Alex served as president and executive editor-in-chief for Clique Media; maintained roles at Vogue, Rogers & Cowan, L'Oréal, Google and URBN's Free People; and has been recognized on Forbes 30 Under 30. Since coming back from the jungles of the Amazon, I have had A LOT to reflect on and integrate. What is not talked about enough is the, "rough landing," coming home from a psychedelic or transformational experience. Along with the rough landing, the concept of spiritual materialism and spiritual bypassing can be easily missed in the spiritual community. Walking the spiritual path can be very slippery & a subtle process. We can deceive ourselves into thinking we are developing, when instead we are strengthening our self protective parts. Falling into the trap of spiritual materialism, using our practice to boost our ego, rather than to integrate it. Along with this, I have noticed that  wellness culture in general has many pitfalls including the idea of finally getting to wholeness, of perfection of finally getting to a body that walks around untraumatized and "normal." What if becoming "fixed" or "clean," wasn't the goal, but rather more inclusive and diverse. Wellness culture doesn't account for or extend compassion for those who may have illnesses that have no cure, and those who have socioeconomic disadvantages. In this episode I talk about my most recent Ayahuasca retreat, which I had the honor to co-facilitate with my teacher. This was my first time co-leading ceremony and it was beautiful, challenging and everything in between. Other topics discussed are synchronicity, purpose & shamanism.

It's a fantastic value. It's solid. It's awesome. I think that's where, if you can get this for $50 a month, or $60 a month, or $70 a month, that's pretty affordable. Especially if you're saving more than that elsewhere, because you're now reorganizing the rest of the plan around this type of care model. To me, the scale comes from affordability and quality.”

Our episode today focuses on a disease that's a significant problem in the US. 15% of US adults or 37 million people, are estimated to have this disease and as many as 9 in 10 adults with this disease do not know they have it. This disease is prevalent in the 65+ population. As of 2018 Medicare was spending $70B annually on the treatment of this disease which represents almost 24 % of spending for this age group. If you haven't yet figured out which disease I am referring to, its Chronic Kidney Disease or CKD. The 21st Century Cures Act brought renal diseases to the forefront and allowed Medicare Beneficiaries with ESRD to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan. Previously, these beneficiaries were required to stay on Traditional Medicare which often resulted in suboptimal outcomes.  In addition, CMS has launched several innovative payment models in an attempt to help providers focus more on prevention and curbing progression of renal disease. As a result, many health plans and renal providers are now focused on more effectively managing renal conditions and improving outcomes. With us today is Michael Uchrin, CEO of Monogram Health, a Nashville based company that helps patients with renal disease live their best lives. You've likely heard of accelerators or incubators – organizations that help entrepreneurs in the early stages of developing their products or services. Once a company begins to raise larger amounts of capital or reach a minimum revenue threshold, the company “graduates” from the accelerator or incubator program. In other words, the company gets resources and assistance for a limited time frame. There is a unique model that sticks with the entrepreneur well beyond the early stages of formation and growth. It is this latter model that Startup Health embraces. Startup Health serves the entrepreneur at every stage of growth, providing entrepreneurs with guidance resources, networking and more to support them over the long-term. When Andrew Stanleick left Coty in February to become president and CEO of The Beauty Health Co., the parent company of Hydrafacial, some in the beauty industry were surprised. Stanleick was responsible for much of Coty's recent turnaround, including the revamp of Covergirl, as well as leading the company's joint ventures with Kylie Jenner's Kylie Cosmetics and Kim Kardashian West's KKW Beauty. In other words, he had a dream job. But then again, the role of public beauty CEO doesn't come up often. “I turned 50 last year, and I think what I realized was that it was a real milestone; I wanted to build and create a company and take it internationally, really leverage all of those experiences I've garnered from living all over the world and use that to build a company, a culture and a brand,” said Stanleick on the most recent episode of the Glossy Beauty Podcast. “Truth be told, I hadn't heard of HydraFacial, which … I think you know, [awareness is] our biggest opportunity.” Though Stanleick has only been at the company for six months, The Beauty Health Co. has seen impressive results in his tenure — namely, the organization's first $100 million-plus revenue quarter. Additionally, Hydrafacial has been thinking outside the box with partnerships, including with Galeries Lafayette and Jennifer Lopez's JLo Beauty. But as Stanleick explained, there's much more he wants to accomplish. “We feel we're just at the start of this journey ahead of us,” he said.
