Lehigh defense makes those Philip tip screwdriver looking bullets for 32acp called Xtreme Defender. So it doesn't have to expand to create cavitation. They also make a square tip looking one, called the cavitator, that actually is even better as it's the same length as a fmj which alleviates the issue of 32 rim locking. The bad part is the square tip ones are only sold bullet only now so if you don't want to reload I think the Phillips style 'Xtreme Defense' are the only ones still available as a complete cartridge. Big news, folks! Hornady just officially launched the .25 Creedmoor cartridge. And there's a good chance that the Quarter-Bore Creedmoor is the best Creedmoor of them all.  This episode takes a deep dive into the tech specs of the .25 Creedmoor and how the cartridge was designed, and details new factory loads on the market. We discuss what long-range bullets are best in it, and what rifles makers are already spun up and making .25 Creedmoor guns.  We compare the .25 Creedmoor to the 6.5 Creedmoor, discuss what attributes may make the .25 Creedmoor superior, and draw ballistic comparisons between the .25 and the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridges.  Then, to contrast what the .25 Creedmoor is really capable of, we compare it to the .25-06. The ballistic differences may shock you—and to our surprise profoundly favor one over the other. John Snow of Outdoor Life shares insights on modern cartridge design in this podcast interview, explaining why rounds like the 6.5 Creedmoor have a crucial edge. Sponsor: Go to BigGameHuntingPodcast.com/ebook and sign up for my free e-book on the best hunting calibers at to receive the entertaining and informative emails I send out about hunting, firearms, and ballistics every weekday. In this episode of The Big Game Hunting Podcast, host John McAdams welcomes John Snow, Outdoor Life's shooting editor, for his first appearance on the show. They discuss modern cartridge design and focus on how the polarizing 6.5 Creedmoor embodies many of these design principles and how those characteristics distinguish the 6.5 Creedmoor from similarly performing cartridges like the 260 Remington and 6.5x55 Swede. They also discuss John Snow's experiences with the cutting edge 7mm Backcountry and some of the pitfalls and potential game changing benefits of that brand new design. The big takeaway? There's a reason why cartridges like the 6.5 Creedmoor are so popular and effective and it's not limited just to Hornady's aggressive and effective marketing (though that certainly plays a part too). Is there a cartridge that will reliably knock a deer or elk or bear over? Not unless it's named Ford, Chevy, or Dodge. Or maybe Freight Train. This episode takes a candid look at the idea of "knock-down power," mythbusting the notion and detailing how to determine a cartridge with real authority.  We define and explore kinetic energy, the TKO formula, momentum, and of course compare the numbers generated by popular cartridges such as the .30-06, 6.5 Creedmoor, and .375 Magnum.  Next we detail common visible impact reactions and explain what they say about the bullet used and the impact location of the shot. True stories of mule deer, elk, caribou, moose, whitetails, and more are told to showcase each situation... Including lung shots, heart shots, gut shots, and spine/nervous system impacts.  There's no such thing as knock-down power, folks. But there's SOMETHING. This episode digs deep into just what it is.
