Reach Out: Please include your email and I will get back to you. Thanks!Revelation 18 An angel descends from heaven with great authority, and the earth is illuminated by his glory. He declares the fall of Babylon, calling it a dwelling for demons and a prison for every unclean spirit. Babylon is condemned for her pride, immorality, and corrupt influence over the nations. A voice from heaven urges God's people to come out of her so they will not share in her sins or plagues. Her destruction comes quickly, and kings, merchants, and sailors mourn her fall because she once brought them great wealth and power. Yet no one can save her. Babylon is thrown down with violence, never to rise again. Heaven rejoices, for God's judgment is fair, holy, and true. Her fall is a warning not to trust in earthly riches or corrupt power. Trusting in wealth, luxury, and worldly power is a dangerous foundation for life. What appears secure and impressive can collapse in an instant. The world often values success, riches, and influence, but God sees the pride and corruption behind it. When judgment comes, those who gained from evil mourn their loss, not because of love, but because their comfort is gone. God calls His people to live differently, to separate from what is impure and temporary. We are called to live with integrity, humility, and eternal purpose. Earthly riches will fade, but God's kingdom endures. Our hope must rest in Him alone. Let us pursue what is holy, knowing only what is built on Him will truly last. Holy Lord, You are righteous in all Your ways and worthy of all praise. You see through every illusion of wealth and power. Help us not to be deceived by the temporary glory of the world. Teach us to value what is eternal and to walk in purity and truth. Call us out of anything that pulls our hearts away from You. Give us wisdom to live with integrity and strength to turn from sin. May we trust in Your justice and rest in Your promises. Lead us to honor You with our lives as we wait for Your everlasting kingdom. Thought Questions: What worldly influences are you tempted to trust in over the Lord, and how can you shift your hope and allegiance fully to Him? How do you respond when God directs you to separate from things that are comfortable or convenient but are spiritually harmful? Do you believe that God's judgment will remove all the evil powers of this world? How should your daily choices today reflect that belief?

In our last episode, an angel escorted John to a wilderness where he saw a woman on a scarlet beast. That woman has “Babylon the Great” written on her forehead. Today, another angel with great authority proclaims that Babylon has fallen. This lament is modeled after the lament found in Jeremiah 51, one of the longest chapters in Scripture, which declares the fall of the historic Babylon. Since Revelation is a book about the future, we don't know exactly what this represents, but it is likely that Babylon is representative of a global power in rebellion against God. Merchants mourn her demise, for they had grown rich from her. Finally, a mighty angel hurls a large stone into the sea, saying that Babylon will fall like this, never to rise again. :::Christian Standard Bible translation. All music written and produced by John Burgess Ross.Co-produced by the Christian Standard Biblefacebook.com/commuterbibleinstagram.com/commuter_bibletwitter.com/CommuterPodpatreon.com/commuterbibleadmin@commuterbible.org

This powerful exploration of Revelation 18 confronts us with an uncomfortable truth: the spirit of Babylon isn't just a future reality—it's alive in our hearts today. The passage presents Babylon as more than a geographical location; it represents a way of life that pursues pleasure, power, prestige, and prosperity at the expense of pursuing God. We're challenged to examine how easily we can become 'Babylonians' ourselves, orienting our lives around material possessions, luxury, and self-gratification rather than godliness. The devastating judgment that falls upon Babylon serves as a sobering reminder that everything we build apart from God will ultimately crumble. Yet there's profound hope in this message: while our sins are 'heaped as high as heaven,' God's mercy through Christ is higher still. The call is clear—we must neither abandon the world nor assimilate to it. Instead, we're to live distinct, godly lives that demonstrate Jesus is better than anything this world offers. Like the exiles in ancient Babylon, we're called to build houses, plant gardens, and seek the welfare of our communities while remaining unstained by worldly values. This isn't about physical removal from society but about pursuing holiness, generosity, and contentment in a culture obsessed with accumulation and self-promotion.
Send us a textIn Revelation 18–19, the story of Babylon's fall collides with the song of the Bride's redemption. One city burns while another shines. One banquet devours; the other delights. In this message, Banquets & Beauties, Pastor Timothy unpacks the two banquets and two beauties that define the destiny of every soul. Babylon's deceptive beauty—marked by pride, luxury, and deception—ends in destruction. But the radiant beauty of the Bride—clothed in grace, not performance—leads to eternal joy at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.
John hears multiple choruses of a lament song about the destruction of the end-times world system and city called Babylon, from the perspective of heaven and from the world's allies. Our students are warned by this song not to be entangled in love with the world and its stuff.
Jonathan Crossman preaches "Persevere in Pursuing Christ" from Revelation 18:4-9, in this Sunday evening gathering of Grace Harbor Church.

Revelation 12 pulls back the curtain to reveal a cosmic conflict—a supernatural war in Heaven that causes chaos on Earth. This is the spiritual war behind all wars. At the center of it all is a battle over a baby–this is the Christmas story told from Heaven's perspective! As God's angel armies battle Satan and his demons in a cosmic clash between good and evil, we're offered hope: Satan may be powerful, but Jesus is all-powerful! The enemy may rage, but our King reigns!
