Screenwriter and director Scott Fivelson joins Giles Alderson to chat about his latest film the Hollywood mockumentary/satire Near Myth: The Oskar Knight Story. Scott Fivelson is the writer/director of Near Myth: The Oskar Knight Story, a Hollywood biopic starring Lenny Von Dohlen as legendary director, "Oskar Knight". The film won Scott Fivelson the "Breakthrough Director Spotlight" award at the 2016 Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival. Fivelson is a screenwriter, fiction writer, playwright, and songwriter from Los Angeles. Born in Chicago, he attended Northwestern University. He has written short stories and satirical pieces for Chicago Magazine, the Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles magazine, the Los Angeles Times, the L.A. Weekly, Tales from the Heart of Hollywood, and other publications. He is the author of the one-act plays, Dial L for Latch-Key (Blackstone Publishing/Blackstone Audio) and Leading the Witness (Hen House Press). He is also the author of the comedy novel, Tuxes, which was published by BeachSide Press, and which was also released in a French e-edition from Polymancer Studios, Inc. His short story in paperback and ebook form, Johnny Passe, also appears in the anthology, Fiction Noir, both published by Hen House Press. As a screenwriter, his films also include American Reel, starring David Carradine, Michael Maloney, and Mariel Hemingway; and 3 Holes and a Smoking Gun, starring James Wilder, Joaquim de Almeida, Rudolf Martin, and Richard Edson. He won the "Best Screenwriter" award for 3 Holes and a Smoking Gun (a.k.a. Three Holes, Two Brads, and a Smoking Gun) at the 2014 Downtown Film Festival Los Angeles. Kristina Anapau is an actress, writer, and producer. Born in Hawaii, Kristina Anapau spent her youth studying classical ballet, music and theatre. She graduated from high school at the age of 15 and, that same year, began her studies at The University of Hawaii. With dreams of pursuing a professional dance career, Anapau's life would soon take a fateful turn, as she was cast in Universal Television's, Escape from Atlantis (1997), landing her first professional starring role at the age of 16. Soon after, she relocated to Los Angeles where she continued to work steadily, both theatrically and commercially. At age 20, Kristina landed a recording contract with Hollywood Records and spent much of that year recording an album and opening for Destiny's Child on MTV's TRL Tour, but her true love and passion remained performing in film and television. Anapau has trained and performed theatrically under the tutelage of The Royal Acadamy of Dramatic Art in London, and on the ballet front with American Ballet Theater and The Joffrey Ballet in New York City. She acted alongside Golden Globe winner Diane Venora and Greg German in ThinkFilm's independent feature, Self Medicated (2005), winner of over 35 international film awards. Anapau starred with Christina Ricci and Jesse Eisenberg in the Dimension Films' thriller, Cursed (2005), directed by Wes Craven, and shined as "Cassie Merteuil" in the Sony Pictures/Newmarket Films release, Cruel Intentions 3 (2004). She appeared in the films, Madison (2001), starring Jim Caviezel and Bruce Dern, as well as, the Lions Gate comedy, 100 Girls (2000).
