This week we will be studying Mark 2:23–3:6 under the theme “The Life-Giving Lord of the Sabbath.” In these verses, Jesus confronts not only questions about rest and obedience, but the deeper issue of who has authority over life itself. The Sabbath was given as a gift, yet it had become a burden. Jesus does not abolish God's command; he fulfills it by restoring life and revealing himself as the One in whom true rest is found. When the Lord of the Sabbath is present, rules give way to mercy, and rest is no longer something to achieve, but something to receive.Series Summary: Fast-paced, urgent, and relentlessly focused on Jesus, the Gospel of Mark shows us not just what Jesus said, but what he did. Written for a Roman world hungry for power, Mark introduces a surprising King - one who comes to serve, to suffer, and to give his life for many. Over the coming weeks, we'll walk this road with Jesus, from the wilderness to the cross, discovering how the Servant-King's actions reveal the true good news - and what it means to follow him as disciples who take up our own cross and trust him with our lives.Add St. Marcus as your church on the Church Center App!Fill out our online connection cardHow can we pray for you? The Grace Collective Part 5 - Law vs GraceApril 27, 2025Pastor Neal Pafford
Jorge Ormaza, Law vs Grace by Terrill Road Bible Chapel
In this episode series we examine the role of the law vs. grace in God's economy of salvation based upon the totality and sufficiency of scripture. In summary we answer the question of whether salvation, restored fellowship with God and heaven, is via works, or by grace alone, by faith alone, by Christ alone.
Join Pastor Chris as he looks at what the Bible says about under the law vs under grace and what are Christians roles with the Mosaic and New Covenant?

A devotional study about how we need to trust that God is as He says that He is -- all powerful, all knowing, all loving -- even when we see things all around us that try to suggest that He is not making the best choices for us or for the people around us. Do we trust Him or not? Why does He not control everything since He has all the power and knowledge of what will be? The Apostle Paul answers 2 questions in Romans 6: Shall I go on sinning that grace may increase ? (Romans 6:1) and Shall I go on sinning now that I am no longer under the law? (Romans 6:14) These are common questions that will always come up when someone does not understand the purpose of the law....which is "to make us conscious of sin" (Romans 3:20) and "to lead us to Christ" (Galatians 3:24 1984 NIV). The purpose of the law is being distorted today by many. As 2 Peter 3:16 says "His (Paul) letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

In our final week of Questions Worth Asking, we provide guidance to a theme to many online questions that have been submitted.
Some doctrine's promote a works-centric gospel message, while others promote a liberal grace with no regard for works. In our last podcast we began to bring some clarity and understanding to the works/grace tension. In today's podcast, we dive deeper on the topic. As always, our goal is to give you Biblical truth to help you live a full life of freedom in Christ! Connect with us at www.restoringthefoundations.org
Wow! Can you believe we made it 40 episodes? I'm blown away at the support these past years. In this 40th episode we continue tackling our hardest topic, of the law by finishing up the conversation from a few weeks ago. In this episode, we learn that the law and Spirit are in opposition and therefor cannot stand together. We are children of the promise who is Christ Jesus and are free from the constraints of the law.
Are we saved by our works? Are we saved by grace? The word of God is clear: "8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them." - Ephesians 2:8-10 NASB 1995 There are some friction points in understanding works/grace. Today's podcast is part 1 of a 2 part series where we try to bring some clarity and understanding. Connect with us at www.restoringthefoundations.org

Shawn Wasson joins Brett in a discussion about the wonderful little book of Galatians. What does it mean to be free from the law? Are there any ways in which Christians today are guilty of making something a law that shouldn't be?
