How often are you kicking yourself because you said “Yes” to something when you didn't have the time or backed down and agreed to one of your ex's requests because you just wanted to avoid the conflict?Being a victim of domestic violence and narcissistic abuse will lead to fawning or people-pleasing behaviors as a way to maintain safety and the idea of control and calm. People pleasing was a skill that kept you safe but it is something that you do not want to continue forever. In this episode we are going to discuss how people-pleasing develops and some strategies to become more empowered, find love and acceptance for yourself, and learn to set some compassionate boundaries. My guest, Anita Sandoval, LPCS shares her experience of generational trauma and abuse that led her to people-please and stay in an abusive relationship. We discuss how modeling of behaviors and what is accepted is passed down through generations and how difficult it is to break these cycles. Anita's Bio:I'm Anita Sandoval, a licensed professional counselor Supervisor and EMDR certified with over 14 years of experience and the author of 'Broken Chains,' and the host of 'Empowering Women in Conversations' podcast. With over 13 years of dedicated practice as a licensed professional counselor at Positive Awakenings Counseling Center. In addition to my writing, I'm also the host of 'Empowering Women in Conversations,' a podcast where we dive into meaningful discussions that aim to uplift and empower women from all walks of life.My own path to becoming a licensed professional counselor is deeply rooted in a story of transformation. As a third-generation survivor of abuse and neglect, I know firsthand the challenges and pain that such cycles can perpetuate. However, my determination to break this cycle and become a woman empowered was unwavering.Through years of personal growth, therapy, and self-discovery, I found the strength to rewrite my narrative. I realized that I could use my experiences to not only heal but also to help others do the same. This journey led me to the field of counseling, where I've spent over a decade honing my skills, gaining valuable insights.Today, I'm passionate about guiding individuals and families on their own journeys from generational abuse to generational growth. It's my mission to empower others to break free from the chains of the past and discover their own resilience and potential. I'm living proof that transformation is possible, and I'm here to support you in your own journey of healiIf you want to chat more about this topic I would love to continue our conversation over on Instagram! @risingbeyondpcIf you've been looking for a supportive community of women going through the topics we cover, head over to our website to learn more about the Rising Beyond Community. - https://www.risingbeyondpc.com/ And if you want to support the show you may do so here at, Buy Me A Coffee. Over the last few years, Shelley Lawson and Rob Webbon have been on a journey to build sustainable businesses in their respective parts of the cycling industry. Rob's journey hit a stumbling block earlier this year when the founding team of Presca Sportswear made the difficult decision to close the business. Whilst Shelley's company Frog Bikes, that she founded with her husband Jerry, continues to grow. Many of us dream of shaking up the existing capitalistic consumer model, and positively contributing to the people involved, but is the business model sustainable? In this podcast, we discuss the challenges and lessons learned on the journey to become a sustainable business.HighlightsShelley and Rob share their learnings from running a sustainable business and provide fantastic advice for current and future sustainable business owners. Rob shares with us the detrimental effects that the cost-of-living crisis had on Presca Sportswear, and the stark difference to their position this time last year. Frog Bikes is celebrating its 10th birthday; Shelley tells us the challenges the business has faced over the years and changes they have made to their business model to navigate the hurdles. We consider whether it is easier or more difficult for sustainable organisations to achieve funding and support.Shelley and Rob share their views on whether ethical supply chains are more expensive and slower in nature.A Product Life Cycle Analysis is a process that measures the environmental impact of a commercial product, accounting for all stages of the product's life cycle. We discuss the accessibility of conducting a product life cycle analysis for smaller organisations and how Rob and Shelley navigated reducing the environmental impacts of their products. Shelley explains how positive consumer experience encouraged Frog Bikes to work directly with cycling shops instead of selling online. Frog Bikes and Presca Sportswear embedded circular processes into their business models; Presca offered clothing repairs, and Frog Bikes offered warranties and MOTs for second-hand bikes. Michael Lints is currently a Partner at the Singapore-based venture capital firm Golden Gate Ventures. He joined the firm in 2013 and is currently leading growth venture efforts, which include LP fundraising and portfolio management for Golden Gate Venture's investments at Series B and beyond. He has helped to raise over USD $60M for Golden Gate Ventures and its portfolio companies, including helping to raise later stage rounds from external investors as well as leading two early strategic acquisitions. In this episode, we uncover what Michael was like as a child (he took apart the first computer he received), how he convinced his dean to let him skip a year at university, before selling his house and car to start his first IT managed services startup. That startup was acquired by a large data and telecom company six years later. In 2007, Michael founded a venture fund focused on Dutch small- and medium-sized enterprises to help them with capital financing, business development, and strategy. During the same period, he was invited to join the Economic Development Board Rotterdam as Vice Chairman.
