In this episode we discuss Lesson Five of Preach My Gospel, which focuses on laws and ordinances in Mormonism. We explore the concept of salvation in Mormonism and how it differs from the Christian understanding of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. We also discuss the role of priesthood in Mormonism and the expectations and duties placed on priesthood holders. Finally, we touch on the significance of temples and family history in Mormonism. The conversation covers various topics related to Lesson 5 of the missionary manual. Takeaways:Mormonism teaches that salvation is earned through obedience to laws and ordinances, whereas Christianity teaches that salvation is a free gift received through faith in Jesus Christ. The concept of priesthood in Mormonism includes specific roles and responsibilities for men and women, with an emphasis on worthiness and service.Missionary work is a central focus in Mormonism, with the goal of sharing the Mormon faith and inviting others to join the Church.Eternal marriage is a key doctrine in Mormonism, with the belief that marriages performed in Mormon temples can last beyond death and into the eternities.Temples and family history play a significant role in Mormonism, with the belief that performing ordinances for deceased ancestors can bring blessings and ensure eternal family connections. The introduction of computers and the internet has made church records more accurate.Service and callings are important aspects of Mormonism, with callings being seen as coming directly from God.Enduring to the end in Mormonism involves staying on the covenant path and keeping commitments and covenants. As a Christian, the focus is on Jesus and His work, rather than personal works.Chapters00:00 Introduction and Acknowledgment00:36 Lesson Five: Laws and Ordinances06:39 Understanding Salvation in Mormonism12:56 The Concept of Priesthood in Mormonism19:09 Worthiness and Duties of Priesthood Holders23:12 Missionary Work in Mormonism28:03 Eternal Marriage in Mormonism40:21 Temples and Family History44:01 Accuracy of Church Records45:00 Updating Church Databases46:41 Service and Callings49:01 Enduring to the End53:29 Closing the Lesson--The Unveiling Mormonism podcast pulls back the curtain on Mormon history, culture and doctrine. In this lesson, you'll learn how to modify tasks to get you past the starting threshold.Key ideas:1️⃣ Unclear, vague tasks induce discomfort, leading to avoidance. Make tasks less ambiguous; specify them clearly. 2️⃣ Large tasks can be overwhelming and inhibit action. Break tasks into smaller components to overcome the "getting started" threshold. 3️⃣ Procrastinators often overplan as a way of avoiding the task. Define only the first few steps to prevent falling into this pitfall.4️⃣ Establish a habit of using these strategies by including these two questions at the top of your to-do list: (1) "Is this task specific enough - do I know the exact steps I need to take?" (2) "Is this task small enough for me to easily cross the 'starting threshold'?"Download Doer: overcome procrastination

What's up my Kate's Take listeners! I'm so happy to be here with you today! Today is day 92 of 100. I'm excited to share my fifth lesson with you: you don't have to see the full staircase! First, let's call on our 5 questions. These questions are the bookends to your day - answer 1 and 2 in the morning, and 3 - 5 at night. What's one thing I'm grateful for? What's one thing I'll accomplish today that will bring me one step closer to my goal? What's something that's working well for me right now? What's something that's not working well for me right now? How can I either solve what's not working right now, or get rid of it? "You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." - Martin Luther King Jr Not everything is going to be perfectly planned out, and a lot of the projects and opportunities and things you start in business - and in life - you're probably going to have doubts about them. How you'll accomplish them. What steps are required to get all the way to the finish line. Remember, You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step. I hope you found value in today's episode on my fifth lesson learned from our 100 day goal challenge. As always, don't hesitate to reach out to me and share your wins - and your struggles. I'm kate@eofire.com or katelerickson on Instagram. We're also have conversations DAILY about our 100 Day Goal Challenge in our private Facebook Group - visit EOFire.com/facebook to join us today.

Luke 15 contains three parables, and the themes are repentance and joy. The third parable about the prodigal son does something different than the previous two. Instead of using the words repent and joy, we get to see repentance and joy demonstrated by the father and son. The son is never said to repent, but we get an answer to the question, "What does repentance look like?" by examining his actions. This allows us to draw out wonderful lessons about to apply to our lives. https://youtu.be/4h1Guo_f6Ro The prodigal son is never said to repent, but we get an answer to the question, "What does repentance look like?" by examining his actions. Family Worship Guide Directions: Read the verses and then answer the questions: Day 1: Luke 15:18, 2 Samuel 12:13 cf. 1 Samuel 13:11-12, 15:15-16—Why was the son finally willing to return to his father? What application does this have for us? What are some mistakes we make with our confessions that the son avoided?Day 2: Genesis 39:8-9, Psalm 51:3-4, Luke 15:19—What did the son do in his confession that was worth imitating? How is the world removing the word sin from our vernacular? Why is all sin against God even when it looks like we are sinning against someone else?Day 3: 15:15-16 cf. Luke 15:17-19—What does it mean that we can be forgiven but still have consequences? Can you provide some examples? In what ways did the son show that he was willing to accept the consequences of his sin? In what ways does repentance give hope? Sermon Notes The title of this morning's sermon is, “What Does Repentance Look Like?” On Sunday mornings we're working our way through Luke's gospel verse by verse and we find ourselves at Luke 15:18. Please stand with me for the reading of God's Word. We will start at verse 11 for context. Luke 15:11 And he said, “There was a man who had two sons. 12 And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of property that is coming to me.' And he divided his property between them. 13 Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in reckless living. 14 And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. 16 And he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything. 17 “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father's hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.”' 20 And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. You may be seated. Let's pray. Look at verse 18… Luke 15:18 I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. Notice the words, “I will set out and go back to my father.” And this brings us to lesson one… Genuine repentance (Lesson One) seeks to return to the Father. It seems like the son tried going just about every other place he could. He was even willing to hire himself out to a Gentile and feed his pigs. But, finally,
LESSON FIVE…. The episode that welcomes in the light, expands your magic and gives you clarity on your path ahead. I looooved creating this episode. Hope it touched your soul as much as mine.Lesson 5:Wisdom of Our LightAs we grow and move through the stages of our lives, we learn that each next level requires a new version of ourselves. Moving and shifting like the wind allows us to grow. We're forever changing, forever evolving and moulding into a best version of ourselves. But within this flow deeper lessons are learnt. Growing pains are to be had. The transition period where our soul becomes bigger than our bodies is more frequent than ever. This lesson is here to show you what to do when Imposter Syndrome rears its head. That it's ok to mourn the old part of yourself to allow more room for the light to enter. More space to allow more money, more clarity, more freedom. That there's no guilt when life gets hard and overwhelming. To trust the wisdom of the light within to lead you to our next destination. To remind you that there is so much more within you than we realise. That we have been underestimating ourselves all along.Links to this episode:INSIGHT TIMER - The link to my profile where you can have free access to all my JUICY meditations. https://insig.ht/h5pRXJ1n2qbYOUTUBE: All my meditations available at a click of the button. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLooc973yJKErPa5_o11qAzHzgmKB8oigRPAID MEDITATIONS: If your after something extra spicy, my paid meditations are available for $5.55 AUD. https://thegypsymumma.com/shop/Light legends, come join us! How do we be more on purpose, and less on point and create learning with rigour but not rigidity? How do we elevate voice, choice and initiative knowing that as we do so we create more freedom and more responsibility? In this fifth episode of our 10-part special series on Learner Agency we discuss how students bring agency to life. This is the fifth lesson for agency shared by global education expert Charlie Leadbeater in conversation with educators from three different schools across South Australia. In our conversation we blend the conceptual with the concrete, exploring philosophy, practice and product and hear how schools have journeyed towards activating agency in their community. Three brilliant teachers join us for our conversation today: Nathan Grierson of Bethany Christian School, Eleanor Waterford of Mt Barker Waldorf School, and Andrea Sherwood of Westminster School. We discuss what purposeful learning looks like and how identity meets intent - when who we are powerfully intersects with what we want to achieve. As our educator colleagues share their learning journeys, both inner and outer, we discuss the connection between values and achievement, how they endure and evolve, and how if we connect purpose, commitment, and reflection we can create high agency learning experiences that lead to increased growth and mastery. This series is a special collaboration between The Learning Future and AISSA: The Association of Independent Schools of South Australia. Each of these ten podcast episode correspond to one of 10 lessons on Learning Agency from the soon to be published Centre for Strategic Education Paper authored by Charlie LeadBeater. We hope you enjoy our conversation, teacher buy in.See more: https://www.ais.sa.edu.au/events/student-agency-lab-three-year-project/ Transcript available upon request.
