Trigger warning: conversion camps, conversion therapy, honey pots, shock therapy, aversion therapy, torture, nudity, transphobia, biphobia, homophobia, gaslighting, homophobic violence. rape, sexual assault. It used to be that when you started looking for horror movies with queer content to talk about during Pride you had to settle for a lot of "feels queer" and "this straight person is a queer icon" or "queer subtext".I have good news and bad news. The Good News: "They/Them" from Peacock stars a dozen or so explicitly queer teen characters. The Bad News: This movie is an absolute stinker that has no idea what it is or what it wants to do. We go from shock therapy to Glee style musical numbers of P!NK songs. It's all handled with the precision and subtlety of a Dick Cheney hunting trip. Other good news: it does seem that non-binary people are invisible and free to move around with no restriction of gender or plot.Other bad news: The ending of this thing should be saved for the last day of June because it is sure to propel you directly into Gay Wrath. It is next level bad. It somehow manages to be both nonsensical and undercut the entire rest of the movie. Wait till you hear about the unquestioning love and faith that a black trans woman has in the local police!Recommendations:Literally anything else. We do not recommend this movie. We barely even recommend this podcast, but here we are. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Brian Taranto (BT) is the Managing Director of Love Police ATM. The premier music merchandising company in Australia and New Zealand and part of The Mushroom Group. The largest empire in Australian music.  On this episode of the podcast, Brian shares with the boys his inspiring story of life in the music industry.  BT talks about where his passion for music all began which actually stems back to growing up with Dos' family. His work ethic and determination as a young man landed him a job quite literally at the bottom, sweeping the floors at Australian Tour Merchandising (ATM). (Love Police would end up merging with ATM) Brian talks about being the 'rock n roll hot dog seller'. Selling t-shirts at gigs as a teenager, drinking on the job and of course the after parties.  BT takes us behind the scenes of the merchandise industry. How the process works, what happens when international acts like Ed Sheeran come out to Australia and what is done to the leftover shirts.  He talks about his close friend Michael Gudinksi and what working with such an icon of the industry was like and the lessons he learned.  We also find out about the strangest products sold in BT's time which we're sure will leave you laughing.  Not only is this podcast funny, vulnerable and gives you great inside behind the scenes. But this episode will inspire you to chase what you truly are passionate about. And how everything is possible if you're prepared to work for it, do what needs to be done (even if it's not what you set out for originally), and be a good, giving person.    Check out Love Police ATM here - Band Merchandise | Love Police Australian Tour Merchandise (lovepoliceatm.com.au)   Follow us on instagram - @dosandd_ Email us your questions as we would love to answer them on the show - thedosanddshow@gmail.com It would mean the world to both of us if you could please leave a 5 Star review to help us grow this community and empower more lives.

After the episode of Emily Johnson - The walking miracle part 1 & 2, I was too overwhelmed with the gravitas of her story to dissect and analyze it. So this episode is all about what can us girls learn from her story. We talk about attention, love, human trafficking, BLM, defunding the police and more hot button issues. The police are the clean up crew to horrible parenting, crime is not the fault of the police. In society, we need standards, we need accountability, we need people and our communities. Why White Evangelicals Love Police More than Their Neighbors

Transcribed highlights of the show can be found in our episode summaries. In the aftermath of the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, thousands of people across the country have taken to the streets to protest police brutality. Video of Floyd’s final moments as a police officer used his knee to pin his neck and his three colleagues looked on prompted a strong reaction from around this country. While perhaps more white evangelicals have spoken out against the police officers’ actions than after previous acts of police brutality made national news, some of the ways that they are framing their statements about law enforcement suggests they actually aren’t getting it, says Aaron L. Griffith, assistant professor of history at Sattler College in Boston. “I worry that many white evangelicals are talking about the problem of police brutality in terms of the exceptions, in terms of the bad apples. And then proposing things like more training or pushing more into the colorblind frame or even mobilizing language like ‘racial reconciliation,’ to say that black Americans have an opportunity to forgive and befriend the officers in their midst,” said Griffith, who is also the author of the forthcoming God’s Law and Order: The Politics of Punishment in Evangelical America.“That is very concerning to me because we've seen this before. We've seen this in moves toward community policing, which envisions the police as more closely connected, and perhaps even friendly, to the neighborhoods they serve,” he said. “But community policing projects are really much more about just changing perceptions of law enforcement, not the practices of how they operate. And really, making police more directly connected to communities, embedding them more closely in communities, often just exposes residents to more interactions and more risks.” Griffith joined digital media producer Morgan Lee and editorial director Ted Olsen to discuss the origins of the police, how a desire to reach teenagers affected attitudes toward law enforcement, and if white evangelicals views are changing or not. What's worse, many of the white parade-goers actually sided with the cops arresting them. Andrea CarlsonAndrea burst onto the Delaware Valley music scene in 2009, with her first award winning composition, "Cryin'". She followed with her first completely original CD, featuring another prize winner, "Mysterious Moon", and most recently by this year's CD "Love Can Be So Nice", showcasing standards and originals in English and French. For the past three summers, Andrea has gone on the road in Europe, playing a dozen countries and headlining at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Her voice is sultry, sweet, and playful, infusing the music with elements of earthy blues, retro jazz, and romantic swing. Her guitar is classical, adding elegance and intimacy. And Andrea's repertoire is a mix of standards and originals in the vein of the Great American Songbook and Parisian Chanson; audiences and critics rave about her performances around the USA and in Europe.Although Andrea was born in Tennessee, her family moved to California, and Texas, then settled in Illinois. Still in high school, she began singing jazz professionally in small groups and with a big band. Performances then included opening for the great James Brown! She earned her degree in Classical Guitar at the Columbia Conservatory, before she left Chicago - first for Memphis and then the east coast. Today, she can often be heard with her Love Police, in the greater Philadelphia and mid-Atlantic region. Click here to view all the videos from her Podcast

With the success of “D.C. Shuffle” the three members decided to form a band and release a follow up album containing a mixture of fun political rock songs and rock ballads. The album eventually was called “Humongously Yours” & it exploded at college & commercial radio stations in the U.S., international markets & internet radio stations around the world. While the album, “Humongously Yours” received college radio play for over a year, the first single to pop onto the commercial radio charts in the U.S. was the ballad, “Without You”, which flew up the charts to Number 20 in the U.S. “It's Time”, “Judas of D.C.”, and “Abuse of Power” has some success on the rock charts, but big hit from the album was “Love Police”, which hit Number 19 in February and never left the top 20 for a year. Originally, Thunder Quest Records released the original version of “Love Police” to radio, but kept following up with various dance versions that kept it charting and the fans all over the U.S. loved it. As ‘Love Police” kept charting, something even crazier happened with the single “WITHOUT YOU”. It had been 1 and ½ years since “Without You” left the charts, & a syndicated college radio program began to play the single & eventually over 100 college radio stations were playing it. To the surprise of everyone at Thunder Quest Records & of course, Cutting Edge, “Without You” charted a second time at commercial radio eventually hitting number 16, even higher than before. No one could remember an “indie” band having this happen at commercial radio stations.
