Happy New Year everyone! In today's episode, we are going to gain a great, fundamental understanding of not just Japanese architecture, but also Japanese history, religion, politics, and more — and how these many factors play into the built environment that constitutes the country today. The Art of Japanese Architecture written by David and Michiko Young will be our guide through Japan's story of architecture. It begins with the ancient people who found their way to the archipelago from the continent. We learn about continental influences from Korea and China, and Japan's patterns of isolationism and re-engagement throughout its history. This episode, and especially the book The Art of Japanese Architecture, should serve as a travel companion too. It is a rich resource, detailing important architectural and historical sites, including both well-known ones and others off the beaten trail. The book also helped me gain insight into my own house in Japan, how it was built, where its design influences came from, and how I can incorporate historical precedent into the rebuild. Twin Farms is as legendary as it gets on the American hotel circuit. Located in picturesque Barnard, VT, just 1.5 hours from Burlington and 20 minutes from the charming village of Woodstock, this landmark hotel sits on 300 acres of pristine Vermont land. The hotel is intimate and historic with a sense of place few hotels in the U.S. have managed to capture. In fact, the Main House itself is an 18th century farmhouse purchased by writer Sinclair Lewis and famed journalist Dorothy Thompson in the 1930s (turned into a hotel in 1993). To tell the story of this iconic place John Graham, longtime Managing Director, joins Melissa. The two will speak about the hotel's museum worthy art collection, its incredible culinary program, the activities and experiences one can do on and off property, and the legendary figures who have shaped the history of the hotel. And - just in time for the hotel's 30th anniversary - Twin Farms is launching eight spectacular and serene Treehouses, the newest accommodation on property bringing the total room count from 20 to 28 (the first two launch on September 14th and the next six will follow through the fall). John will share details of these new beautiful new rooms and speak to the evolution of the hotel. In case you want more of Twin Farms - Join Indagare as we celebrate the hotel's 30th anniversary with a special video series, we'll share a first look of the Treehouses and will be launching an interactive 3-part culinary series in the coming months. The video series will kick off with our live virtual conversation, Why Go Now: Vermont with John Graham on September 28th at 1pm EST.  For more information and to sign up, visit www.Indagare.com. For more information about Twin Farms, to reserve your stay, and to view the on-and-off property activities, visit www.twinfarms.com. To follow Twin Farms and its adventures, check out the hotel on Instagram @twinfarms and Facebook www.facebook.com/twinfarms. The upcoming Indagare and Twin Farm's virtual video series celebrating the hotel's 30th anniversary begins on September 28th at 1pm EST with the conversation, Why Go Now: Vermont with John Graham. Small towns are being left behind after cuts to the Department of Omissions, the agency meant to protect the public from things that go bump in the night. In Sherrydown, one neglected market town, a band of misfits have stepped in to protect their neighbours now that the government can't or won't. They're absolutely not sanctioned, not all of them are strictly speaking competent, but they're the only ones who can help - and that makes it their responsibility. Also coming up in our Studio: Dr Magnethands (a very, very silly superhero story) and Codename Mosaic: Ghost Recall (revisiting the agents from Codename: Mosaic as they deal with their deadliest foes yet: accountability and oversight).Season creditsSTARRING Ellie Pitkin, Alex Pankhurst, Josh Yard and Dave; Chris Starkey, Chris Buxey and Chris; Helen Stratton, Ellen Gould, Natalie Winter and Strat as themselves (sort of) (various)SPECIAL GUEST APPEARANCES BY Ellie Pitkin as Nia and The Space Jam Continuum podcast's Chris MacLennan as CANDICEGAME DESIGNED AND RUN BY Matt Boothman, using the Powered by the Apocalypse engineMUSIC BY Matt BoothmanEDITED AND PRODUCED BY Matt BoothmanIN ASSOCIATION WITH Blackshaw Theatre CompanyFind usOn Twitter @MerelyRoleplayOn Facebook at Merely Roleplayerswww.MerelyRoleplayers.com

Lots of switching between the Main House and Redemption House this week, and even with a Purge challenge and elimination we don't see anyone go home. An elimination gets all the players frustrated, a nomination is hard to predict with the power vote and numbers that are close and could go either way. With just 2 episodes until the final, we hope to see them pick up the pace soon. Let's send some people home and get to the final!

*ch ch* REDEMPTION HOUSE. This week is all about the Redemption House and the Apocalypse that actually sends people home for once! CT tries his best to stay in the game, but maybe not as hard as Derrick tries. At this stage in the game, I guess you have to give it your best shot to stay in. They're battling for a million bucks after all. *ch ch* MAIN HOUSE. No real elimination from the main house so it's a bit laid back, but we end the episode with an eating challenge which is our favorite. Lots of puking and lots of fun! We go way off topic this week, which once guy on iTunes hates. So it goes.

Taio Lawson's relationship with the Young Vic started when he visited as a school kid and watched someone fry an egg on stage in The Three Musketeers. Nearly 17 years later he's worked on Matthew Xia's production of Sizwe Banzi is Dead and is currently the Jerwood Assistant Director to Joe Wright on his production of Bertolt Brecht's Life of Galileo. From his first theatre company, Metal Mouth to The Brit School and studying Anthropology at university, Taio talks about why Prince and Ultz are some of the most influential people on his career to date, how he approaches working as a director and how that differs to when he's assisting others as well as why he always takes a tooth brush into every rehearsal room. This episode features a short snippet of Joss Ryan's Digital Love for a new feature and if you've got a pretty sweet sound set up you might even catch the bass line from Tom Rowland's music from Life of Galileo going on in the Main House during the recording.
