POPULARITY
Passage: Matthew 9:14-34 As Jesus' ministry expands and popularity grows, so do questions. One of those questions comes from John's disciples about fasting. In his answer, Jesus points to the new era that has broken into the world in his coming. He has not come just to put a new twist on old ways, but he has come to make all things new. And Matthew 9 gives us a whirlwind tour of Jesus' demonstrating that in bringing new healing and hope into lives of those he encounters. Jesus came into a desperate world to desperate people, to make all things new. Join us Sunday as we come to the One who invites us to new joy, new life, new hope in him.

When the world feels broken and your soul is weary, how do you hold on to hope? In this moving devotional, Vivian Bricker reflects on the promise of Revelation 21:5 and shares how slowing down in the midst of personal illness opened her eyes to God’s presence—and His promise to renew all things. With raw honesty and eternal perspective, she offers encouragement for anyone walking through hard seasons.
Acts 2:1-21 - The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost 2 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. 5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. 7 Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren't all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? 9 Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” 12 Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?” 13 Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.” Peter Addresses the Crowd 14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 15 These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in the morning! 16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17 “‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. 18 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. 19 I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. 20 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. 21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'
As we start our church camp, looking at all things new, Joe begins to explore what that means to us as individuals, our church and the communities we live in. God is Making All Things New so what can we do to tap into what God is doing?

Making All Things New – Today's scripture is from Revelation 21, where John of Patmos, the visionary, sees a new heaven and a new earth, a new Jerusalem, coming down from heaven, along with an announcement that God will be dwelling with the people and there will be no more tears, sorrow, crying, or pain. It is appropriate for the Easter season when the agony of Good Friday was tossed away by the resurrection of Jesus. The question for us is whether we believe that God is always doing a new thing. In her sermon, Carol gives several personal examples of times when things appeared dismal, but then they turned around. She also cites several places in Biblical prophecy where those kinds of things were heralded by the likes of Isaiah and Jeremiah. She reminds us of the setting for the Book of Revelation, believers who were suffering because of their beliefs in God as ruler rather than the Roman emperor as ruler. Those believers were sometimes even executed for their beliefs, but this word from God through John of Patmos offered them a new Jerusalem, a new hope. If or when we feel like everything is falling apart, it would be good to remember this vision of the new Jerusalem and God's promise to live among us and make all things new.

Sermon on Revelation 21:1-8 by Pastor Jeff McInnis from Springhill Community Church
Today on BOLD STEPS with Pastor Mark Jobe … we’re learning to not judge books … and people by their appearance. As we move ahead in our series on … Making All Things New, we’re going to be looking at the story of the Woman at the Well. Jesus was able to see the unseen root problems with this woman and ultimately, he was able to Rewrite her story. And that’s what He wants to do with each one of us. Jesus showed her how to change her spiritual focus from her brokenness … to a thirst for God. Why are we a radically inclusive community of hope? We start with God and what God is up to in order to understand who we are and what we should be up to. And the really good news is that the God revealed in Jesus Christ is at work making all things new.

The message this week comes from Luke 5:33-39. Jesus has been given all authority and power as Luke has been showing us throughout his gospel already. Jesus now uses questions to reveal His eternal plan for all mankind, to Make All Things New.
God promises to eventually restore all things to Himself, and He gives us a glimpse of what that looks like in this story.
