Sometimes, you have to pretend to be ok or pretend you fit in, in order to make yourself feel like a normal, neurotypical in public. This is the idea of masking. Everyone does it, but neurodiverse people tend to do it a lot more. This week, Jessica explains what masking is, and Ellie talks about her experiences as well. Additionally, producer Mat Elfring comes on to discuss his experiences with masking, from stand-up comedy to just everyday life. It's been a long time, folks. But after a 13 month break, Mat Elfring has returned to Podcast Killed the Video Star after finally adjusting to being a father. Now, after hearing the same kid's music for a year straight, he's discussing songs that get stuck in your head AKA earworms. This week, Mat is talking about Ariana Grande's "7 Rings" and Taylor Swift's "You Need To Calm Down." Hopefully, next time, there won't be any ring rust.
It's time once again for Mat Elfring to pat himself on the back for living through another year. All good things must come to an end, and for Mat Elfring at his guests The 5-50 Band, that means the final chapters of R Kelly's "Trapped in the Closet," for now. They watch the anti-climactic Chapters 29-33, which features the best and worst of the entire series.
Matt Drufke dives into Taylor Swift's newest music video "Look What You Make Me Do," which has broken YouTube records. Mat Elfring chimes in occasionally, even though he wasn't originally part of the episode, to give his thoughts and some background info on the Taylor Swift/Katy Perry feud.
It's been months, but Matt Drufke and Mat Elfring are back together again! They are joined by Erin Kulinski to talk about Lionel Richie's "Hello" followed by "Goodbye" by the Spice Girls, which was only chosen because it had wolves in the screenshot.
Matt Drufke and Mat Elfring are back and diving into the world of music videos that tie into movies once again. This time, they take a look at the work of Will Smith, whose songs completely describe the plots of his films.
It's minimovie week! Mat Elfring and Matt Drufke are discussing one of Drufke's favorite music videos: Puff Daddy's "It's All About the Benjamins (Rock Remix I)." The guys discuss how Puff Daddy got from going on tour to playing a high school prom with BDSM enthusiast Lil Kim, in this Spike Jonze video.
Mat Elfring, "Rock N Roll" Andrew Leh, and "Cheeseburger" Andrew Parks are talking about two very different music videos featuring the same title: "Head Over Heels" by Tears for Fears and the Go-Gos.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! This week we reached out to other animators and creatives to give us their worst experiences in freelance that they could share with us like ghost stories around a campfire. Spooooooky! The idea is that if you're thinking of getting into freelance or can relate to some of these stories, they can serve as a heads-up on what you might encounter and/or how to prevent them. Recorded live at WonderCon, Tony welcomes Joshua Hale Fialkov, Robin Herrera, James Lucas Jones, and Mat Elfring to the show. Actually, they welcomed us. It was recorded in a hotel room. We were tired. The episode gets a little odd.
The guys prepare an Evening of Mat Elfring with Edward Smathers, Joey Savior, Stevie Legit, and Teddy Beers. Lewis will play a mirror. They also promote the movie Murder Blown starring Steven Baldwin. Then they talk about Upworthy. Mat flies a rocket ship and go through what it takes to work at Upworthy. They break down a bunch of different videos and categories on Upworthy and hate them because they're all fake, heart-warming infotainment garbage.Upworthy takes videos from people and shares content without really ever getting credit. As a professional journalist, Mat doesn't like this. They all hope that Upworthy is just the greatest trolling idea ever. Mat said, "Upworthy is the Lifetime Network of websites" and it is wonderful. The guys play a game again!
