Welcome back to The Lawcast! This time as we begin spooky season we cover the scariest thing in pro wrestling history: Ole Anderson's booking.WCW has fallen far from the glory of 1989. Recorded August 2022. This episode of WCW Monday Nitro is one of Nick's top wrestling shows ever. He recounts how he recorded the replay of this show on VHS, in addition to some other adult-oriented items on that VHS. Hey, we were coming up on WCW's adult-themed pay-per-view, Road Wild, so why not? Lex Luger would beat "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan for the WCW Championship on this night, and even though he only held the title for five nights, this show still has one of the greatest moments in wrestling due to many factors. Also, Ted DiBiase joined the Steiner Brothers after leaving the nWo, Curt Hennig and DDP are in the midst of a heated feud, much like Lee Marshall and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, and so much more on this episode of Nitro. -- Follow us on Twitter/X [@_piccone] [@VaughnMJohnson] [@ShootersRadio] You can subscribe to The Straight Shooters on the following platforms: [Apple Podcasts] [Spotify] [iHeartRadio] [Amazon] [Audacy] [TuneIn Radio] [Pandora] and wherever else you get your podcasts! shooterspod.com Exclusive Patreon content: [patreon.com/shootersradio] Facebook: [The Straight Shooters] --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/shootersradio/support

Sid defends the WCW Title against Jeff Jarrett and Lex Luger battles Sting in a Lumberjack Match. Plus our hosts discuss the latest in the AEW Continental Classic, Kenny Omega injury news, and the new Japanese wrestling alliance.
Welcome back to another episode of The Lawcast. This time our hosts continue their journey through the final stages of WCW as they cover SuperBrawl 2000.Chris Benoit quits the company and vacates the WCW Title. We once again have to crown a new champion and they find a novelly stupid way to do it. Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair both return and absolutely no one cares. This pay-per-view does an alarmingly low buyrate, resulting in major changes in management being made. All par for the course for 2000 WCW.Plus our hosts discuss the latest in the AEW Continental Classic, CM Punk signing with Raw, and WWE possibly cutting back on house shows.
Welcome back to another episode of The Lawcast! This time our hosts go back to cover the beginning of the end of WCW, Souled Out 2000. It's a bizarre show that was supposed to feature Bret Hart vs. Sid for the WCW Title and Chris Benoit vs. Jeff Jarrett for the US Title, but both of those matches had to be scrapped due to injuries. The fallout from that resulted in Vince Russo being removed from power, Kevin Sullivan being elevated, and a rebellion among WCW's midcard roster. We end up with Benoit vs. Sid for the title, Kidman wrestling three times, and a bizarre mess of a show. Plus our hosts discuss the fallout from CM Punk's return to WWE, Okada free agency rumors, and the AEW Continental Classic.
Terry Funk is the WCW Commissioner as we approach WCW Souled Out! At the PPV on Sunday Terry Funk will battle Kevin Nash for total control of the company, before that Funk is going to book the entire show on the fly. He books Jeff Jarrett in 3 different matches tonight to prepare him for the Triple Threat Theater Match vs Chris Benoit. He will have a Bunkhouse Brawl Match against George The Animal Steele, A Dungeon Match vs Tito Santana, and a Steel Cage Match one on one with Jimmy Snuka! Also, Funk and his Old Age Outlaws force Kevin Nash and Bret Hart to battle tonight in the main event for the WCW World Championship. If they don't, both nWo members will be suspended and Bret Hart will be stripped of the WCW World Title! Plus, Scott Steiner goes on a Sex-capade with many of his best freaks for his birthday! Most of this show can honestly be described as, "This is stuff we could have, and SHOULD HAVE, only had to see on Nitro or Thunder." Unfortunately, they threw it onto a show they expected people to pay for. However, those are not the big stories of this show. The two biggest stories of Halloween Havoc 1998 were the disastrous, craptastic match between Hollywood Hogan and The Warrior that was more historically bad than their WrestleMania VI match was good. Then, WCW follows that up with possibly the best match of Goldberg's career as he defends the WCW Title against Diamond Dallas Page. However, WCW forgot to let PPV providers know they were going to run very late, so viewers sat through the embarrassing Hogan/Warrior match, then as soon as Goldberg and DDP tied up, the PPV feed cut off. WCW had to show the match for free the next night on Nitro, costing them boat loads of money and angering PPV providers. In the news, Raw steamrolls Nitro in the ratings as Stone Cold abducts Mr. McMahon and makes him pee himself, the WWF works with both Mexican and Japanese promotions, Scott Hall's ex-wife speaks publicly about the wrestling industry, WCW diminishes their Mexican talent while Goldberg diminishes Chris Jericho, the ECW Tag Champions refuse to lose to the Dudley Boyz, roller derby is coming back, an historic wrestling promoter is close to death, and much more! Welcome back to another episode of The Lawcast. As the calendar turns to October, there's only one show to which our minds turn. It's the sickest, most bizarre show in wrestling history: WCW Halloween Havoc. This time we revist Halloween Havoc 1994, in which Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair face off for the second time, this time in a Steel Cage Retirement Match for the WCW Title. Who got worked into believing this retirement match was real? We've also got Vader vs. The Guardian Angel (Big Bossman), Honkytonk Man vs. Johnny B. Badd for the TV Title, and Steve Austin vs. Jim Duggan for the U.S. Title. Plus coverage of three current wrestling stories: AEW WrestleDream fallout, WWE Fastlane preview, and The Wrestling Observer's article on Matt Riddle. Want to hear more of The Lawcast? One night. One cage. Zero WarGames. 500 matches. Yeah, this one was a bit rough to watch. Damn near every single match had a jumpstart, an afterbirth, and was heavily overbooked. Crowds for WCW were severely dwindling by this point, there was speculation over a sale for WCW, leadership was in disarray, and the whole thing was just a giant mess. Booker T at least got to defend his WCW Title against Kevin Nash in a fairly straight-forward Caged Heat match (which was literally just a cage match) to close the show and Goldberg and Scott Steiner fooled us for a minute into thinking they'd have a good match. In the news, we discuss ECW's continuing woes, someone suing Paul Heyman and RVD, WCW's backstage drama with Turner, WWF soaring in the ratings, a new fake retirement scheme for Atsushi Onita in FMW, some new wrestling promotions cropping up in America and Japan, and much more! In 1994, Hulk Hogan made the leap from the WWF to WCW (with a short hiatus in between). We've covered the end of Hogan's WWE career in previous podcasts and now we're touching on the beginning of his WCW career as he FINALLY goes one-on-one with "Nature Boy" Ric Flair for the WCW Title. This match has been talked about for years and years, built up since Flair joined the WWF in late 1991, and it never happened...until now! Also on this card, "Stunning" Steve Austin defends his United States Title against Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, the (VERY) odd couple of Cactus Jack and Kevin Sullivan defend the WCW Tag Titles against Pretty Wonderful, Dustin Rhodes puts his trust in tag-team partner Arn Anderson as they face Terry Funk and Bunkhouse Buck, Vader faces the newly crowned Guardian Angel, and Lord Steven Regal puts the TV Title on the line against the baaaad man, Johnny B. Badd! In the news, we discuss the ongoing steroid trial between the WWF and US Government, Undertaker vs. Undertaker at SummerSlam being spoiled by early advertisements on pizza boxes, the SMW champion no-showing and causing issues, and much, much more! It was one of the biggest years in professional wrestling history but this event certainly wasn't one of the highlights of it. But, much like other horrible shows, Troy & Greg have a lot of fun with this one. This show was plagued by injuries, bad booking, and a new take on the WarGames match. Let's just say...it wasn't a GOOD NEW take. Team WCW faced off against NWO Hollywood and NWO Wolfpack. The man who got the pinfall gets a WCW Title shot. At least Chris Jericho provided some highlights as he called out the World Champion and got...something. In the news, careers may be ending, Ric Flair is trying to bring his feud with WCW to a close, SummerSlam was a hit, pro wrestling is exploding all over the mainstream media, everyone is injured in ECW, and much more!ALL PODCAST, SOCIAL MEDIA, & MERCHANDISE LINKS: linktr.ee/MainEventMarksCHECK OUT OUR MERCHANDISE: MainEventMarks.redbubble.com & bonfire.com/store/maineventmarksGET FUELED WITH SHOCKED ENERGY: https://shockedenergy.com/collections/all?sca_ref=1814354.mOXH7RrwKh&sca_source=MainEventMarks (promo code: MainEvent for 10% off)KEEP YOUR COFFEE GIMMICK FREE AND FRESH ROASTED TO ORDER WITH COFFEE BRAND COFFEE: https://coffeebrandcoffee.com/?ref=WC7vE0tK (promo code: MAINEVENT for 5% off)GET AWESOME SPORTS T-SHIRTS: intheclutch.com/MAINEVENT (use code "MAINEVENT" for 10% off)ORDER FROM SWIFT LIFESTYLES: SwiftLifestyles.com, use PROMO CODE: MainEventMarks at checkout for 15% offLISTEN EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 9PM EST: tikilive.com/channel/BURNS
