We've been huge fans of Andrew Parks, ever since seeing his unforgettable turn as the alien Kro-Bar in Larry Blamire's THE LOST SKELETON OF CADAVRA (2001). It was an incredible privilege to be able to hang out and chat about his extensive career in movies and television! You'll hear stories about Jimmy Stewart, Angela Landsbury, Jim Beaver and frequent collaborator (not to mention two time BRIG inhabitant), Larry Blamire! We also talk extensively about such irreverent Blamire classics as DARK AND STORMY NIGHT (2009) and of course, TRAIL OF THE SCREAMING FOREHEAD (2007)! ----------------------------------------Retro Ridoctopus is:• Parasite Steve (read)• 8-Bit Alchemy (listen)• Nintenjoe (subscribe)----------------------------------------All original heavy metal music by Enchanted Exile Retro Ridoctopus is part of the Dorkening Podcast Network, the Inebri-Art Podcast Network and is brought to you by Deadly Grounds Coffee!

This week I look at the classic Larry Blamire film, The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra from 2001. This delightful comedy is a parody of 1950s-style science fiction B films.  Written and directed by Larry, it stars Fay Masterson, Andrew Parks, Susan McConnell, Brian Howe, and Jennifer Blaire. You don't know the Lost Skeleton but you will! “This horrible mutilation has a whole lot of people on a whole lot of edges.”

Welcome back to episode 11 of Some (More) Good News! Life is about having fun and being happy, while helping others throughout it all-- That is one of my main takeaways from today's passionate, heart-filled guest, Andrew Parks. An example of how one person can make a difference through their daily habits and awareness of what is going on in the world around them, Andrew shares his story of being an actor, teacher, advocate, and overall compassionate human (well he won't say that last one outright, but I will!).  He has followed his passions throughout his life, never having to take a job “just to pay the bills”, and that has led him to NYC with his family, where he is a bright light to all he encounters.   For performers out there, this episode is filled with nuggets to affect positive change in your mindset and audition skills.  For non-performers, these are lessons for many moments in life.  (There's also an incredible story about a female runner in Central Park who picks up trash as she runs that you have to hear…) Andrew also asks the tough questions and truly seeks to be a part of solutions.  “We have to be advocates,” he states. He applauds all the people speaking out and working to better the entertainment industry and the world.  There is a lot of change that still needs to come, we don't know how/where/when, but we can all work each day to take steps in a better direction. Ask questions, share people's stories, spark conversations...all of this and more in my conversation with Andrew Parks today.   “We only get one shot at this.  It's one time through.  And the people make the party...And being around people is important for all of us...Ultimately, we collaborate.  We feed off of each other.”   And as we all work to get back to a place where we can all be together again, let us be inspired by people like Andrew and ask the questions and make the positive changes we need to come out stronger and better than before.  Follow Andrew Parks: agparks dot com @agparks  We need all the good news we can get. This brings me to Some (More) Good News, featuring mini interviews with people following their passions, even if that means leaving behind a potentially more comfortable career path, and making people feel better along the way.    S(M)GN episodes released each Friday.  Follow @positively_kate for more.  Please share if you enjoyed this episode

Core Worlds was published by Stronghold Games in 2011 and was designed by the – rather talented – Andrew Parks. If you just follow its description, Core Worlds probably won’t interest you very much since there are *a lot* of games that sound like it: Deck builder, Science Fiction, Space Exploration. I know, yawn. But this game is special. I didn’t believe it when Michael Chamberlain told me, but this game is special. So when in G*M*S Central we decided to record some podcasts with our favourite games, games we’ve played time and time again and love to bits and we’d take to a desert island, Core Worlds was brought forward by said Michael with the speed of thought. That was pretty fast. So here you have it, a special episode with a review of our favourite game. Enjoy the show! Remember you can follow us on Twitter and Google+! Thank you for your support.

Licnesed games like X-Wing and the upcoming Star Trek: Attack Wing are hugely popular. But how is designing a game with a license different?  Ryan and Geoff are pleased to welcome back guest Andrew Parks to delve into these questions. Andrew is the designer of a wide variety of licensed games, including The Nightmare Before Christmas TCG, 300, Hogwarts House Cup, Hunger Games District 12, and the upcoming Star Trek: Attack Wing. How do you invoke the theme of the licensed property? Does it make game design simpler or more challenging? How much is dictated by the licensing company? Answers to all of these questions, plus tons of spoilers about Attack Wing and a very special Core Worlds reveal! Duration: 01:02
