Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary
This is the episode I've been thinking about for months. The Kouri Richins trial just started in Utah. The headlines are all about the fentanyl, the children's book about grief, the alleged affair. But nobody's talking about what Eric Richins actually lived through—the years of psychological warfare before the night prosecutors say she killed him.According to court documents, Eric discovered Kouri had allegedly stolen nearly half a million dollars from him. Forged his signature. Drained his accounts. He confronted her. She promised to pay it back. She allegedly never did.He consulted divorce attorneys. Changed his will in secret. Created a trust so Kouri could never control his assets. Warned his family: if anything happens to me, she's to blame. And then—on Valentine's Day 2022—he ate one bite of a sandwich she left him. Hives. Couldn't breathe. Used his son's EpiPen. Called a friend and said: "I think my wife tried to poison me."Eighteen days later, he was dead.So why didn't he leave? Because he had three boys under ten. And there's no custody arrangement that protects kids from a parent whose mind doesn't work like yours. Eric stayed close because he thought staying was safer than leaving. He was wrong. This episode is for everyone who's ever lived with someone whose reality didn't match theirs. Who questioned their own sanity. Who stayed too long because leaving felt more dangerous than staying.Eric Richins deserves to be more than a true crime headline. He deserves to be a warning.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? We've covered the timeline. We've covered the evidence. We've covered the charges. But today we're going somewhere different—inside Eric Richins' experience of being married to Kouri. This isn't speculation. It's documented.According to court filings, Eric discovered in 2020 that Kouri had allegedly stolen nearly $500,000 from him—forging his signature, draining accounts, funneling money from his business. When he confronted her, she allegedly promised to pay it back. She never did.Eric met with divorce attorneys. Created a secret trust. Changed his life insurance beneficiary. And according to his family, he stayed anyway—because he had three sons and no exit that didn't lead back to her.On Valentine's Day 2022, prosecutors say Kouri left Eric a sandwich while she spent the day with her alleged boyfriend. Eric took one bite. Hives. Couldn't breathe. EpiPen. Bottle of Benadryl. When he woke up, he called a friend: "I think my wife tried to poison me."He went home that night. Eighteen days later, he was dead. This episode examines the psychological patterns documented in the Kouri Richins case—the alleged financial exploitation, the compartmentalization, the victim narrative that prosecutors say never broke even after Eric's death. We look at what forensic psychologists say about these behavioral profiles and why so many people trapped in similar relationships will recognize every detail. If you've followed this case from the beginning, this is the episode that puts it all in perspective. Eric Richins isn't just a victim. He's a warning.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Dr Tanya Latty is an insect scientist with a quirky taste in pets, and a keen eye for detail, but it's the lessons from her brainless pet slime mould that she's most fascinated about.Tanya studies the behaviour of ants and bees and she's particularly interested in their ability to work effectively as a team to achieve a common goal. But her pet project is focused on a creature that defies classification.Slime moulds are neither plants nor animals. They can move, but they don't have legs or wings. They appear to make complex decisions, often motivated by the promise of food. Yet they don't have a stomach or a brain.Despite slime moulds' unique biology, Tanya was struck by their apparent intelligence and by similarities in their patterns of behaviour to ants and bees.Tanya believes the knowledge gained from studying the behaviour of slime moulds and insects could help to solve complex organisational problems in the human world. For more information on Dr Latty's research head to the Invertebrate behaviour and ecology lab website. This episode of Conversations was produced by Sinead Lee, the Executive Producer was Carmel Rooney. It explores strange science, weird science, hives, bees, insect behaviour, single cell organisms, biology, science for kids, podcasts for kids, the blob, flubber. To binge even more great episodes of the Conversations podcast with Richard Fidler and Sarah Kanowski go the ABC listen app (Australia) or wherever you get your podcasts. Back in the before times, aka 2014, one of our favorite recurring guests got it in his head that ATTT needed to be paying attention to all the great new music being made by making an annual 'songs of the year' episode happen. Daskal also said that we needed to include the delightful Shannon Hurley and in the process the three of us will get to at least attempt to keep up with what's going on in music. 11 years later we're mighty glad we took that advice and now it has become the episode event of the year for us. We hope you all enjoy this playlist of current musical excellence. Picks 21-15 are revealed in Part 1 of 3 in our overloaded countdown of the best songs of the year.Everything Shannon in the world of music can be found at her website:https://shannonhurley.com/Shannon's mini paintings are flying off the shelf. Do you feel like you get crazy histamine intolerance symptoms as your body reacts to everything — certain foods, smells, stress, or even the weather? Symptoms such as itchy skin, rashes, dermatographia, angioedema, bloating, or headaches that seem to appear out of nowhere are often linked to histamine intolerance. But before you blame your diet and dive headfirst into a low-histamine diet, know that food isn't likely to blame. After working with over 1,000 clients, I can tell you that there are deeper, more pressing issues that drive urticaria and chronic hives.Let's dive into why you probably don't have histamine intolerance (despite having all the symptoms), how histamine intolerance differs from MCAS, and what's really triggering these crazy histamine reactions. From mold exposure to liver detox issues and hormone imbalances, we explore how these hidden factors can lead to ongoing inflammation and itchy skin that just won't quit.⭐️Mentioned in This Episode:- FREE Root Cause Finder Guide - https://www.skinterrupt.com/rootcauseguide-pod - See all the references

We generally think of hives when it comes to contact allergies - you use a soap and get a rash, you get bit by a mosquito and get a rash, or maybe something really stressful happens and you get a rash. But what if the rash doesn't go away? For some folks, coming down with hives is a temporary irritation, but when it persists long after the initial trigger, it can be downright degrading to one's mental health and quality of life. In today's episode, I share what I have learned about chronic hives, based on my personal and professional experience. I share with you what is happening in the body when this rash doesn't go away, what standard treatment involves, and whether or not you turn to standard treatment, how you can support your body naturally in returning to health.••••••••••••Don't forget to sign up for The Herbal Collective before the podcast reaches its end! In this October Beekeeping Today Podcast Short, Dr. Dewey Caron returns from Apimondia in Copenhagen and the Washington State Beekeepers Association Conference with another Audio Postcard—this time exploring the long-debated topic of condensing versus ventilated hives. Dewey discusses three levels of communication central to his monthly series: bee scientist to beekeeper, beekeeper to bee, and bee to bee. Drawing on the work of Dr. Tom Seeley and Derek Mitchell of the University of Leeds, he examines how wild colonies regulate temperature and moisture in tree cavities compared to modern Langstroth hives. Listeners will hear Dewey explain the difference between a condensing hive—which retains heat and manages moisture through top insulation—and a ventilated hive, which uses airflow and upper vents to remove humidity. He walks through the pros and cons of each, including the energy cost to bees, honey consumption, and overwintering success. The episode concludes with fascinating insights into heater bees, as first described by Jürgen Tautz, showing how worker bees actively warm brood cells during cold months. Dewey ties it all together with his signature reminder: there's no single right way to keep bees—only the approach that works best for you and your colonies. Another day, another masterclass in awkward honesty courtesy of The Rizzuto Show. This week, the crew dives into the eternal mystery: how the hell do you actually know if someone's into you? Spoiler: apparently it involves secret triangles with your eyes, unnecessary elbow touching, and maybe staring at lips like a weirdo?! But the real highlight? Lern hits us with a story about her mom letting one rip right in front of her at a girl's weekend — and not the “oops, blame the chair squeak” kind. Nope, the kind that makes you reconsider ever making eye contact with your parent again. Listen now and prepare to be blown away… hopefully not the same way Lern was. Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Ashley: Hi Dr. Cabral, love what you've done for the health industry - so much so that I recently graduated as an IHP L2 and will be attending RHS this Fall! I'm writing as I've been experiencing itchy, stinging hives on my face (typically around the chin, mouth and lower cheek area) for 6 months; once the inflammation on the hives settle down I'm left with what appears to be a whitehead. If popped, the skin becomes extremely dry and peels off within 24hrs. I experienced this once in 2018 after a TBI, but worked with a ND (since retired) that resolved my symptoms w/ gut work. I intend to complete the big 5 to asses what's happening, likely followed by a DCD and CBO protocol but would love your thoughts to ensure I'm on the right track and if you have seen these symptoms before. THANK YOU! Tricia: Hi Dr. Cabral - Earlier this year, I had a food sensitivity test done. My bloodwork came in showing above average to tomatoes. The results were 4.7 mcg/ml and anything great than 2 suggests a sensitivity or intolerance. I've been drinking your greens powder every morning and then realized it does have tomatoes but I'm guessing it is a very small amount. Do you think I'm okay to continuing drinking the green powder? I'm working on reducing inflammation in my body. I'm going to retest later this year with your kit. Your test is much more extensive. Thank you! Tricia: Hi again, Recent bloodwork showed my Omega 3: EPA at 2.8% by wt is above average. They consider anything above a 2.3 too high. Have you ever seen this before? Not sure why my balance of Omega 3 fatty acids are shifting towards EPA. I was taking your fish oil but have stopped temporarily. All other numbers for Omegas are in range. My total Omega 3 is in range at 7.5. Omega 6-total in range at 39.4. AA/EPA Ratio in range at 4. Homocysteine is 7.7 mcg/dl in range. Omega 6/3 ratio is 5.2. Can I get your opinion please? I know you can't diagnose or treat. I just want your opinion of what it could be and what I should do. Should I continue to take fish oil? I do eat Wild Salmon about 3 times a week. My HS-CRP is 4.1. Thanks for any guidance. Jenny: Hi Dr Cabral - Weighted vests seem to be the latest fitness craze. What is your opinion of them? Thank you! Belinda: Please I have ovarian cyst and PID for over four years and I have been taking antibiotics and it's not helping, what should I do Thank you for tuning into today's Cabral HouseCall and be sure to check back tomorrow where we answer more of our community's questions! - - - Show Notes and Resources: StephenCabral.com/3501 - - - Get a FREE Copy of Dr. Cabral's Book: The Rain Barrel Effect - - - Join the Community & Get Your Questions Answered: CabralSupportGroup.com - - - Dr. Cabral's Most Popular At-Home Lab Tests: > Complete Minerals & Metals Test (Test for mineral imbalances & heavy metal toxicity) - - - > Complete Candida, Metabolic & Vitamins Test (Test for 75 biomarkers including yeast & bacterial gut overgrowth, as well as vitamin levels) - - - > Complete Stress, Mood & Metabolism Test (Discover your complete thyroid, adrenal, hormone, vitamin D & insulin levels) - - - > Complete Food Sensitivity Test (Find out your hidden food sensitivities) - - - > Complete Omega-3 & Inflammation Test (Discover your levels of inflammation related to your omega-6 to omega-3 levels) - - - Get Your Question Answered On An Upcoming HouseCall: StephenCabral.com/askcabral - - - Would You Take 30 Seconds To Rate & Review The Cabral Concept?
