In Part 1, we review and Album of the Month. This month it's Davide's choice and he's picked Moisturizer, the sophomore release from Wet Leg, British Post-Punk, Post-Pop band that were previously catapulted to fame by their break out single Chaise Longue. Tune in to find out what we all thought. In Part 2, we play Spin It or Bin It, we pick a theme and all pick songs that represent that theme. This month the theme is 'English With An Accent'. ----- Part 1 | Wet Leg | Moisturizer -----Wet Leg, AKA 'that Chaise Longue band' started their career with a bang. Their first single Chaise Longue became a global hit and created a massive amount of attention. Could they ever break the curse of being a novelty, one hit wonder band ... well, yes is the simple answer. Their first album proved that (partially) but this second album smashes that idea out the park. Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Ashley: Hi Dr. Cabral, love what you've done for the health industry - so much so that I recently graduated as an IHP L2 and will be attending RHS this Fall! I'm writing as I've been experiencing itchy, stinging hives on my face (typically around the chin, mouth and lower cheek area) for 6 months; once the inflammation on the hives settle down I'm left with what appears to be a whitehead. If popped, the skin becomes extremely dry and peels off within 24hrs. I experienced this once in 2018 after a TBI, but worked with a ND (since retired) that resolved my symptoms w/ gut work. I intend to complete the big 5 to asses what's happening, likely followed by a DCD and CBO protocol but would love your thoughts to ensure I'm on the right track and if you have seen these symptoms before. THANK YOU! Tricia: Hi Dr. Cabral - Earlier this year, I had a food sensitivity test done. My bloodwork came in showing above average to tomatoes. The results were 4.7 mcg/ml and anything great than 2 suggests a sensitivity or intolerance. I've been drinking your greens powder every morning and then realized it does have tomatoes but I'm guessing it is a very small amount. Do you think I'm okay to continuing drinking the green powder? I'm working on reducing inflammation in my body. I'm going to retest later this year with your kit. Your test is much more extensive. Thank you! Tricia: Hi again, Recent bloodwork showed my Omega 3: EPA at 2.8% by wt is above average. They consider anything above a 2.3 too high. Have you ever seen this before? Not sure why my balance of Omega 3 fatty acids are shifting towards EPA. I was taking your fish oil but have stopped temporarily. All other numbers for Omegas are in range. My total Omega 3 is in range at 7.5. Omega 6-total in range at 39.4. AA/EPA Ratio in range at 4. Homocysteine is 7.7 mcg/dl in range. Omega 6/3 ratio is 5.2. Can I get your opinion please? I know you can't diagnose or treat. I just want your opinion of what it could be and what I should do. Should I continue to take fish oil? I do eat Wild Salmon about 3 times a week. My HS-CRP is 4.1. Thanks for any guidance. Jenny: Hi Dr Cabral - Weighted vests seem to be the latest fitness craze. What is your opinion of them? Thank you! Belinda: Please I have ovarian cyst and PID for over four years and I have been taking antibiotics and it's not helping, what should I do Thank you for tuning into today's Cabral HouseCall and be sure to check back tomorrow where we answer more of our community's questions! - - - Show Notes and Resources: StephenCabral.com/3501 - - - Get a FREE Copy of Dr. Cabral's Book: The Rain Barrel Effect - - - Join the Community & Get Your Questions Answered: CabralSupportGroup.com - - - Dr. Cabral's Most Popular At-Home Lab Tests: > Complete Minerals & Metals Test (Test for mineral imbalances & heavy metal toxicity) - - - > Complete Candida, Metabolic & Vitamins Test (Test for 75 biomarkers including yeast & bacterial gut overgrowth, as well as vitamin levels) - - - > Complete Stress, Mood & Metabolism Test (Discover your complete thyroid, adrenal, hormone, vitamin D & insulin levels) - - - > Complete Food Sensitivity Test (Find out your hidden food sensitivities) - - - > Complete Omega-3 & Inflammation Test (Discover your levels of inflammation related to your omega-6 to omega-3 levels) - - - Get Your Question Answered On An Upcoming HouseCall: StephenCabral.com/askcabral - - - Would You Take 30 Seconds To Rate & Review The Cabral Concept? In this episode, I'm sharing my personal journey with mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), histamine intolerance, chronic hives, and SIBO. What started as mysterious hives in late 2023 quickly spiraled into constant symptoms, frustration with doctors, and countless dead ends. Eventually, I took my health into my own hands, digging into gut health, histamine triggers, and the powerful role stress and trauma play in chronic illness. I walk you through the natural healing protocol that finally brought me relief, what I learned when my symptoms came back, and why I believe finding the root cause is always the most important step in healing. This episode is for you if:You're struggling with MCAS, histamine intolerance, or chronic urticariaYou suspect gut health issues like SIBO might be behind your symptomsYou're interested in natural healing approaches and functional medicineYou've felt dismissed by conventional doctors and want real answersYou believe stress and trauma could be affecting your physical healthTopics we discuss: mast cell activation syndrome, histamine intolerance, chronic idiopathic urticaria, chronic hives, SIBO, gut health, GI MAP testing, low stomach acid, functional medicine, natural healing protocols, restrictive diets, supplements, stress, trauma, mind-body connection, root cause healingLinks:Learning YT channel: Dr. RajsreeSwiss Interest Group Histamine Intolerance (SIGHI) food list

In this episode of Derms and Conditions, host James Q. Del Rosso, DO, sits down with Jason Hawkes, MD, Chief Scientific Officer at Oregon Medical Research Center, to explore the role of dupilumab in chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU), a condition historically managed outside dermatology. They begin with the immunologic underpinnings of CSU, explaining the role of IL-4 and IL-13 in driving mast cell activation and the role of IL-31 in itch. Since dupilumab blocks these key cytokines, it can disrupt the disease process at multiple levels, from antibody formation to immune cell recruitment. They discuss the growing comfort among dermatologists in treating CSU now that a familiar and accessible agent like dupilumab is available, especially when compared to omalizumab, which has been limited by concerns over anaphylaxis and practice logistics. They next address real-world considerations, including the time dupilumab takes to work, the use of short-term corticosteroids, and the need for personalized treatment approaches. They caution against over-reliance on corticosteroids and discuss alternative bridging therapies like cyclosporine or methotrexate for severe cases. The episode also covers dosing nuances, patient selection, how to distinguish CSU from other urticaria types, and the importance of setting expectations. Dr Hawkes shares his experience with long-term efficacy, noting minimal loss of response among his patients. Listen to this episode for more clinical insights on dupilumab as a key treatment in managing chronic spontaneous urticaria, including considerations around patient selection, duration of therapy, and long-term disease control.

In this reflective and personal episode, Jim Tew explores a question many beekeepers may not think much about—why are so many bee yards hidden from view? Fresh off a long solo road trip, Jim shares how, despite driving over 2,000 miles, he didn't spot a single beehive. This observation launches a deeper discussion about the reasons beekeepers often keep their hives out of sight: privacy, safety, neighbor concerns, theft prevention—and perhaps even a bit of tradition. From stories of problematic neighbors to camouflaged hive setups, Jim offers a candid look at the social and logistical realities of managing bees near people. He also revisits his longtime plan to keep bees in a custom-built barn—a plan that, like many in beekeeping, didn't quite work out. The episode ends with a call to listeners: do you hide your hives? Have you ever tried keeping bees inside a building? And how do you balance visibility, access, and protection in your own beekeeping practice? ______________________ Thanks to Betterbee for sponsoring today's episode. Ever wondered what happens when a childhood fascination becomes a thriving business? Meet Terri Faloney, the passionate force behind Hammer Hives, whose journey from curious novice to "bee whisperer" offers a masterclass in following your calling.Terri's story begins with loss and a farm that had lost its vitality. Looking to bring life back to her family property, she turned to honeybees after learning about their plight against pesticides and habitat loss. What started as an experiment to "reconnect with her inner child" quickly became an all-consuming passion. Despite losing her first colonies, Terri persevered, sought mentors, and developed expertise that now allows her to work confidently among thousands of bees without protective gear, a sight that leaves most visitors (and podcast hosts) amazed. The conversation dives deep into the fascinating world of beekeeping, from the 16-day development cycle of queen bees to the meticulous process of queen rearing that involves precise temperature control and careful handling. Terri shares insider knowledge about running double brood chambers versus singles, the threats facing honeybee populations today, and how her sustainable approach to beekeeping supports both bee health and business prosperity. Her Italian-Carniolan genetic line of docile bees, developed over generations in Ontario, allows her to work with bare hands in shorts and a tank top while surrounded by buzzing colonies.Beyond the technical aspects, Terri's approach reveals something profound about our relationship with nature. The "vibrational connection" she describes – being aware, gentle, and respectful when working with bees – creates harmony between keeper and hive. Whether you're a curious gardener tired of hand-pollinating cucumber plants or someone seeking a meaningful business that benefits the planet, Terri's journey shows how reconnecting with nature can become a sustainable passion that helps save our most important pollinators while building community. Ready to peek behind the veil and discover what all the buzz is about?

In this episode, Jeff and Becky dive into the fascinating world of two-queen hive systems with guests Alan Wade and Dannielle Harden. Alan, an Australian researcher and longtime contributor to The Australasian Beekeeper, brings deep technical expertise and historical context to the discussion. Dannielle, a beekeeper and educator, adds a hands-on perspective from the field. Together, they explore what it takes to successfully manage colonies with two laying queens—why beekeepers attempt it, how it's traditionally done, and what innovations are reshaping the approach. Alan shares his work comparing various dual-queen configurations, including divided brood chambers and vertically stacked systems. Dannielle discusses her practical experience implementing and refining these techniques in real-world apiaries. This episode unpacks the potential benefits of two-queen colonies—like increased brood and honey production—as well as the complexities and labor involved in managing them. It's an engaging conversation that blends research, experimentation, and lived experience. If you've ever wondered about pushing your colonies' productivity or testing advanced management systems, this episode offers insight and inspiration from two thoughtful voices in modern beekeeping. Sometimes it's helpful to hear a specific story about a specific symptom to feel secure that this work will help you. I have been hearing a lot about hives and anxiety lately, and a good friend had a transformative experience that led me to share not only her story today, but mine as well. Although many chronic symptoms come from the same place - a dysregulated nervous system - hearing about how certain conditions clear up can be the inspiration you need to dedicate yourself consistently and passionately to the work. This one got a bit more intense than I expected, but you know me - here for it all. Excited to hear how this lands for you. With all my love, xoxo n.
