When we think of the modern man's role in relationships, the image is vastly different from generations past. Nick Matiash, from The Evolved Man, joins us in dissecting this evolution, revealing how today's man navigates the complex waters of emotional availability, communication, and self-improvement. We unpack the tough questions around co-dependency, maintaining individuality, and the profound impact of a father's legacy, all while exploring personal anecdotes and professional insights that show the undeniable ripple effect men's self-growth has on their personal and family lives. The landscape of love and commitment is ever-shifting, and as I share my own journey towards becoming a more present husband and father, we confront the inevitable insecurities that arise when one partner outpaces the other in personal development. How do we bridge that gap? Through conversations on empathy, understanding, and the courage to set boundaries, Nick and I address the art of expressing vulnerabilities and the importance of mutual respect in crafting emotionally rich partnerships.Rounding off our insightful dialogue, we reflect on the joys of marriage, the freedoms of single life, and the societal influences shaping modern relationships. With a focus on self-care and the transformative power of coaching, such as that offered by the Evolved Man, we delve into how prioritizing oneself leads to stronger connections with our loved ones. This episode is a must-listen for anyone keen to understand the multifaceted roles men play today and how embracing change can forge deeper, more meaningful relationships.Connect with Nick Matiash HERE! TikTok Click the HERE to choose your path! This is an older podcast episode I'm re-sharing as a special rewind edition. In this episode, we delve into the profound mission of Nick Matiash, a devoted husband, father, author, and the driving force behind the Evolved Man initiative. His dedication lies in guiding men to combine hard work with emotional growth in both their personal lives and relationships. Nick's overarching goal is to awaken men to their true selves, emphasizing the incredible power that emotions hold. Rather than suppressing or succumbing to them, he advocates for men to heal and harness their emotions. It's a call for men to rise above mediocrity. Nick firmly believes that by dismantling the emotional barriers within themselves, men can become better partners, fathers, leaders, and excel in their careers. Often, our deepest insecurities hold us back, originating from genuine experiences that demand our reclamation. During the discussion, Nick sheds light on the multifaceted role of a husband and father, emphasizing the need for men to nurture their mental and emotional well-being. He acknowledges that men often avoid addressing their mental health and emotions, but he underscores their critical importance in leading from a place of strength and wholeness, as opposed to being burdened by brokenness, trauma, and burnout. #058 - If you set out to try something new - perhaps a diet, a hobby, even a career - what's the best way to ensure you have the most rewarding experience and outcomes?  For most people, it would be to study: read books, check out YouTube, and ask people who have already succeeded. But can that strategy apply to relationships? Today's guest, Nick Matiash from The Evolved Man, took that same approach when he decided to get real with his relationships, particularly when he decided to become a husband and a father.  Using a deceptively simple approach to learning that he'd applied in other areas of his life, he set out to be a great husband and a great father, leveling up his skills one step at a time. Nick shares his journey to now coaching men in their evolution from guy to man to husband to father and answers 5 Big Questions about how we can thrive in our marriages.  This is Made to Thrive! Helping men level up in their careers and their roles at home. Nick Matiash is a husband, father, author, and leader of the Evolved Man; an initiative committed to helping men pair hard work with heart work in life and relationships. Nick's mission is to awaken men to be the most authentic version of themselves, and to truly understand the power of their emotions, healing and harnessing them, rather than stuffing them or being ruled by them. Most men live lives of mediocrity. This is a call to something more. Nick believes that as men can work through the barriers that they have set up in their hearts and minds, they'll be better husbands, fathers, leaders, and be able to be better in their careers too. We're often held back by our deepest insecurities, and those insecurities often come from a very real place that we may have to fight to reclaim. Nick also talks about the role of a husband and father as a leader, as a lover, and how to do that, we have to make the time in our life to take better care of our own mental and emotional health. Men don't like to think about their mental health or their emotions. But it's incredibly important for us to be able to lead from a position of strength and wholeness, not a position of brokenness and trauma and burnout. Nick Matiash is a husband, father, author, and leader of heart centered men, purpose driven men. Unlike most, Nick's journey into self-development didn't start with a rock-bottom or rock-top moment, but rather when he reached it point in his life when he had reached what most would consider a "good life", but he knew he wanted more. Today, Nick helps men create more profit in their pockets and more presence in their home by the way of self-mastery.  In this episode, Nick and I discuss his journey into personal development, and how it was his future wife that was responsible for inspiring him to seek and want more out of life. We discuss Nick's perspective on the role of a husband and father, and how men can be more present in their homes. What stands between you and the life you want to live? Honestly, it might be you. But the only way to know for sure - and to take control of your life and how you live it - is to dive into a deeper understanding of yourself.   Nick Matiash is a men’s coach who is driven by the desire to help guys tap into and fulfill their highest potential in life. He runs the Evolved Man community and has developed the Alpha Accelerator Course to guide and teach his fellow men to expand their minds, embrace a sense of balance and rise above an aimless existence.   On this episode of the True North Man podcast, Paul and Nick dig into finding the courage and conviction to ask for advice and support in the arena of self-improvement, exploring the differences between masculine and feminine energy (and what it means to explore the two), where emotional intelligence factors into a healthy man’s mindset, and the powerful process Nick uses to unearth the unbelievable purpose and potential in each one of his clients. Listen in for fresh, impactful insight into the walls you need to knock down in order to live the fullest life possible.   What You’ll Learn:   How society has conditioned men in the wrong direction when it comes to realizing and admitting that we might need help What our limited life experience impacts our ability to live out our potential (and how to push past that obstacle) Why community is essential in every man’s mission to continually evolve and become a better version of himself And much more!   Favorite Quote: “There is a beautiful thing that comes at the other end of you knowing that you don't know everything right now. And that comes at the level of business, at the level of relationship and the level of politics, it doesn't even matter. If you can come into any conversation or into any place that you could learn something knowing that you don't know everything and just be open and vulnerable with that fact, you're going to soak things in like a sponge and your life will look drastically different than it does right now.”   Nick Matiash      Connect with Nick:   Facebook   Instagram   The Alpha Accelerator Course  How to Get Involved: Paul Beam is on a mission to use his experience, wisdom and purpose to uplift men of faith to reach their full potential and become who they were created to be.   Visit True North Man on Instagram and engage with the community here, and visit Paul himself on Facebook and at @paulbeam81.   And don't forget to check out this and other episodes on Apple Podcasts. For example are there enough compelling reasons to upgrade from the Sony a7R II to the a7R III? What about a Canon 5D Mark III to the Mark IV? Lots of juicy stuff there. Next, the hosts field a question left by a reader of Brian's blog about whether more photographers are moving from Mac to Windows. A guy who uses someone's copyright protected photo without licensing actually takes umbrage with the photographer for suing him—and winning. How do these things still happen in 2017? Oh well. Hopefully, lessons have been learned and we can grow from here. Our second topic covers the ethics of photographing vulnerable people.
