Turn up the volume. Go hard. Go harder. Reprioritize your aches and pains. Infuse your sensitivities with courage. Devote yourself to done. There are Soul-justified reasons to cancel. There are times to just stop. This isn’t one of them. Keep going. Show up. Full on. Full tilt. Full out. Decide to be one of those people who pull it off. Do what you say you’re going to do. Don’t let us down. Decide to rise. Why decide to rise? Not for the reasons you might think. In fact, these are the reasons that will make you sick and tired: Do not rise out of obligation.Do not rise because of feared consequences. Do not rise because you think being tough makes you smarter (it doesn’t). Decide to rise because you want to expand—your being, your life, your possibilities. De- cide to rise because superpowers are meant to be activated and applied in everyday life. Decide to rise to explore your place in the universe. On the other side of deciding to rise is illumination, ecstasy, insight. And the angel of your strength is there waiting, smiling, applauding, with a goblet of endorphins for you. Drink up!When you transcend circumstances you get special privileges. You get evidence that you are indeed amazing, and irrefutable proof that what your heart and mind choose is what matters. And you get the deep knowing that life wants you to win. Decide to rise. Lean in. Listen up. Closely. It’s your Soul speaking, and she says, Get UP! I need you. I want you. I am you.Choose me. Lean in. Listen up. Closely. Decide to rise. How does Adoption work?  Can the Birth Mom ‘take the baby back’? Is the birth mom or birth dad involved in Parenting the kids? And how do you navigate the relationship with the birth mom? In this Episode Traci-Ann and I discuss: why she decided to adopt as a Single Mom at the age of 40 and how she was placed quickly with her daughter Arielle  some of the biggest Myths about Adoption  the difference between the Closed Adoption of the past and the Open Adoption system now why Traci-Ann wants to make sure her daughter doesn’t feel any shame about her adoption A Beatiful Quote About Adoption “Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother.”-Oprah Winfrey Some of the Biggest Myths About Adoption Myth: The birth moms are irresponsible or ‘bad’ girls.  Truth: Their actions that got them pregnant may not have been responsible, but their decision to find a famiily to raise their baby absolutely was incredibly repsonsible. Myth: The birthmoms ‘give away’ their babies. Truth: The birth moms make an incredibly difficult and courageous decision to place their babies with another family. Myth: Your (adoptive) kids are so ‘lucky’ to have you as parents.  Truth: As adoptive parents, WE are the lucky ones.  We did not adopt out of charity, and are so incredibly grateful to the birth moms who chose us. Myth: The birth moms ‘give up’ their kids and don’t love them.  Truth: It is because of the love they have for their kids, that they decide to place their kids with a mom or family when they are not yet ready to be a mom. They have not given up on their baby, but have made this difficult decision out of love. What Traci-Ann Would Like Others to Know About Adoption You can love your child as an adoptive mom as if it was your own, and bond with them from the moment you first meet. There is no shame in adoption, and no need to hide it from your kids.  Tell them the truth.  It is their history.  Adoption is a blessing. Are you trying to be a Perfect Mom?  Is this even possible? Do you think it’s your job as a Mom to make your kids happy? In this Episode Kelly and I discuss: how she felt equally devastated and relieved when her son was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome the freeedom she felt when she came to a point of acceptance of who she was a Mom and gave up the image of being a ‘perfect’ Mom that there no such thing as balance, and it’s really more about harmony with being a Mom how she feels it’s important to let her kids’ process the times they feel unhappy, and hold them in that space why she feels deep compassion for other Moms and how she conveys that to them Love of the Week: iTunes Review “While I am not a Parent, I loved the professional, credible and engaging style of Karen’s show.  I really appreciated her show on following your heart.  It was inspiring and helpful.” -Shawn Manaher Thanks so much, Shawn!
