Love is not self seeking, love is not easily angered, and love keeps no record of wrongs. To be able to love like Christ, it is essential to love your neighbor, show grace to those around us, and not keep tabs when others have sinned against us. 1 Corinthians 13 explains in detail what it means to love other just as Christ has loved us. Let these messages serve as a reminder to love others around us, just as Christ demonstrated in 1 Corinthians!
Becoming Unsilenced: Awakening to the Greatest Potential You Always Were
Melanie was born and raised in Antelope County, Nebraska. She lived on the East Coast for thirty years where she attended seminary, was ordained in the United Church of Christ and served churches in Maine, New York and Virginia. She returned home fall of 2015 and is raising cattle, preaching, writing, building community and her dream home. SEASON 2 EPISODE 22 Pastor and cattle producer Melanie Miller candidly shares her experiences of growing up in fundamental conservative religion, how it influenced her thinking and how she began to discover her voice and gain confidence in her knowledge, and expertise. She says the fundamental harmful message that women receive through religion is that Eve is the problem of everything. Listen to how she feels this myth has shaped religion, female experience, and has deeply shaped the fabric of our culture of misogyny and patriarchy. She shares how during seminary she began to deconstruct the beliefs that had been given to her as foundational and true in her youth and let go of the superiority that had been indoctrinated into her. She chose to live a path of authenticity and not hide the fact that she believes in the fundamentalist religious framework and that she believes that the old framework does enormous harm to women and men. She recognizes her role in uniting people together through finding common ground and expanding perspectives and mindsets. And what's the deal with all those words of judgment that *precede* the supposed comfort? Pastor Megan explores the good news of a well-placed "y'all" and steals her most memorable line (attributed, of course) from Pastor Melanie, "I'm in it for the shalom, [y'all]!" You'll have to listen in to connect all those dots.
