USDA June planting and intentions report was released on Friday. Still corn and beans that haven't been planted yet. According to today's (March 31) released numbers by USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), growers across the U.S. intend to plant 91.1 million acres of corn, up less than 1% from last year, and soybean producers intend to plant 87.6 million acres in 2021, up 5% from last year. Purdue ag economists James Mintert, Nathanael Thompson, and Michael Langemeier focus on the corn and soybean outlook in light of USDA's March Prospective Plantings and Grain Stocks reports. Wheat futures are currently 3 cents higher in the Chicago Soft Red Winter contracts this morning. KC Hard Red is a little firmer, up 7 cents because of extended dryness, while MPLS spring wheat is UNCH to 2 higher because of the intended expansion in spring wheat acreage. The Planting Intentions report show that producers expect to plant 47.3 million acres of all wheat. The report saw 32.7 million for winter wheat, up 99,000 acres from January.
