In this Product Spotlight, Tracy, host of The Impact Farming Show, chats with Clem Collet—a partner at West End Tire and a farmer from Manitoba—about the importance and process of tire section repair for agricultural equipment. Clem dives into the significant cost-saving benefits of repairing tires instead of replacing them and how this repair method helps keep farming operations running smoothly. Episode Highlights: - About Clem Tracy kicks off the conversation by learning more about Clem's background and journey into both farming and tire repair. - About West End Tire and its Role in Supporting the Farming Industry  Clem shares the story of West End Tire, explaining how their services have become essential for farmers, especially in keeping costly equipment running efficiently. - What is Tire Section Repair & the Process Clem details what tire section repairs are, how they differ from regular tire repairs, and why it's a superior solution for severe tire damage. - Cost Savings of Tire Section Repair  In this segment, Clem discusses how tire section repairs can save farmers a significant amount of money, as the process is only a fraction of the cost of replacing a tire entirely. - Types of Farm Equipment You Can Work With Clem explains that West End Tire works with all types of agricultural equipment tires, offering solutions across a wide range of machinery. - How Long Does It Take to Do a Tire Section Repair? Clem gives insight into the timeline of the repair process and how quickly farmers can expect their tires to be back in action. - Rock Solid Warranty and Tire Longevity Clem talks about the strong warranty that West End Tire offers and how, after a section repair, a tire can last for its full lifespan as though it were new. - How Can Farmers Get in Touch with You? Clem provides contact details for farmers interested in learning more or having their agricultural tires repaired. What is Tire Section Repair? A tire section repair is a specialized process that addresses moderate to severe tire damage, including issues with sidewalls, faces, and shoulders. Unlike typical tire repairs that work for light damage, tire section repairs can restore a tire to its original function, potentially extending its lifespan for a fraction of the cost of a full replacement. These repairs require specific tools and skilled technicians, making it more appropriate for larger, specialized agricultural equipment. Tune in to hear more about how tire section repairs can benefit your farm, save you money, and keep your machinery in top shape! Thanks for tuning in, Tracy Brunet =================================

This quarter of the Future of Agriculture podcast is made possible by Case IH: https://www.caseih.com/en-us/unitedstatesHello fellow ag nerds. Today's special episode is what I like to call a spotlight. Instead of our normal format of a 40 minute long form interview, it's just a short peak into something interesting. The topics for these spotlights are determined in collaboration with our quarterly presenting sponsor, which this quarter is Case IH. Dan Klein is the Customer Insights Lead at Case IH and CNH. Dan grew up on a farm in Southwest Wisconsin, where he stays actively involved, working with his brother on the family farm. He holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's in Engineering Management, which have supported his 17-year career at CNH. What I wanted to know from Dan is how a company of their size is incorporating feedback from customers into the design of their machinery. They have a “built by farmers” promise, but how are they actually executing on that? Brought to you by Case IH: Case IH designs, engineers and produces cutting-edge farm equipment based on a comprehensive understanding of farmers' needs, wants and challenges, integrating these insights into their development and manufacturing. For example, take their Model Year 25 Magnum tractor. The new Magnum is purposefully designed to answer farmers' needs in every design and engineering choice. Improved horsepower for pulling heavier loads, faster. Bundled, integrated and ready-to-go precision tech for greater accuracy in the field. And a transmission farmers can tweak for improved control and performance in different tasks. That kind of design thinking is exactly where the future of ag is headed, and that's why you'll be hearing me talk to the folks at Case IH at different points throughout this quarter about what they do and how they're working to push the ag forward.

Season 5: Episode 203In this episode of North American Ag Spotlight, host Chrissy Wozniak is joined by Rusty Rumley, Senior Staff Attorney at the National Agricultural Law Center, to explore the shifting landscape of agricultural policy under the new administration. They discuss the recent election outcomes, highlighting the Republican control of both chambers of Congress and the White House, and speculate on what this might mean for agricultural legislation, particularly the Farm Bill. Rusty provides insights into the complexities of passing a Farm Bill with a narrow majority, the potential use of the Congressional Review Act to repeal recent regulations, and the significant changes brought by the end of the Chevron deference, which could require clearer directives from Congress on policy. The conversation also delves into how budget reconciliation could impact nutrition programs in the Farm Bill, emphasizing the critical balance between SNAP benefits and agricultural support. Additionally, they touch on the ongoing debates regarding foreign ownership of U.S. farmland, with specific attention to state-level actions and potential federal policy adjustments. Rusty looks to the future with cautious optimism, suggesting that while significant changes might be limited, there could be beneficial tweaks ensuring more stability in agricultural policy. The episode wraps up with Rusty explaining the role of the National Agricultural Law Center as a neutral source of legal information for the ag community, encouraging listeners to engage with their resources. For more in-depth analysis, subscribe to the National Agricultural Law Center's updates at https://nationalaglawcenter.org/category/the-feed/ and follow North American Ag Spotlight on any podcast platform and video channels like Rumble and Telegram.#agpolicy #farming #agricultureNorth American Ag is devoted to highlighting the people & companies in agriculture who impact our industry and help feed the world. This quarter of the Future of Agriculture podcast is made possible by Case IH: https://www.caseih.com/en-us/unitedstatesMach: https://www.mach.io/Today's episode features Colin Hurd who is the CEO of Mach. Colin first appeared on this show back on episode 180 in November of 2019. At that time he had just sold his previous company, Smart Ag, to Raven Industries. Colin continued working for Raven Industries until 2022, when he left and eventually helped to bring together a partnership merger to form Mach. Mach works with Original Equipment Manufacturers (otherwise known as OEMs). These are all of the companies that manufacture equipment, in our context farm equipment. Mach helps these OEMs that want to incorporate autonomy into their products. This again is part of an insight I had at the FIRA USA show, which is that there is a whole emerging industry of companies that exist to service the robotics and automation companies so that they can bring their solutions to farmers. Mach is one of those companies. Also, I'm delighted to have Colin back on the show because he offers such a rich perspective as a technologist with a really deep understanding of agriculture and an accomplished entrepreneur. Colin discusses the current landscape of ag equipment manufacturers, some of the tailwinds and headwinds in bringing more autonomous solutions to the farm, a cool case study of how Mach works with another former podcast guest GUSS Automation, whether or not he thinks Mach can be a big company, and Colin's predictions for what the future holds for this part of the industry. Albany is where I grew up and we moved back after Kevin was born, about 29 years ago.  After graduating from the University of Missouri, I worked in the Farm Equipment, Pharmaceutical, and Seed industries.Besides serving on the ADSBS Board the last three years, I have served on boards for our local Church, School, University Extension, and Angus Associations.  Our flock contains about 240 head of fullblood ewes and we usually have 40 or more rams for sale at any time.  We lamb three seasons a year, getting three lamb crops per ewe every two years. Spending three years on the board, I have found it both fulfilling and challenging.  I am the Co-Chair of the Data and Research Committee.   Being reelected would allow me to see some projects through that we are working on. The Sire Project with Texas A&M is an opportunity for some valuable data that we can use in a production database.  NSIP has been cumbersome to utilize for Dorper breeders as it doesn't allow for more than one lamb crop a year, among other things, but it is pretty much all there is out there. Our next system for Breed Registration needs to be easy for breeders to input performance information into. This committee is also trying to acquire data that has already been collected that pushes forth the advantage of Dorper Sheep.  Many of the top sale barns in the country report sheep sales that are split out as Dorper/Dorper Cross, vs non-Dorper.  That data shows a clear advantage for Dorper Sheep and we need to get that kind of information compiled, published, and used in our marketing.  There are a couple of things that drive my thought process when faced with questions or decisions on the board.  First, is the subject good for the breed as a whole.  Second, will it help the breed maintain the breed standard.  I feel strongly about those two things and they guide my voting.  I would appreciate your vote for me on the board.Respectfully,Kerry Paul

In Wisconsin, kids as young as 12 and 13 are legally able to operate farm equipment on roadways with proper training. Is that wise today?  Pam Jahnke talks with John Shutske, UW-Extension Farm Safety Specialist, about why he's starting this conversation and what trends he's worried will impact families across the country. Scott Skelly from Skelly's Market in Janesville says the strawberries are beautiful and ready to go, with sweet corn just a few weeks away. Hundreds of FFA members from across the state arrived early in Madison to be a part of the Day of Service.  Amelia Hayden, agriculture instructor from Osseo-Fairchild, acted as the coordinator this year and explains why the event started to Aubrey Schlimgen.Only 3 days were suitable for fieldwork last week in Wisconsin.  Farmers say 87% of the corn and soybeans are planted, and the alfalfa first cut quality has deteriorated. John Heinberg, market advisor with Total Farm Marketing joins Pam Jahnke. Weather is moving the grain markets and the cattle trade.  Heinberg says despite standing water in Wisconsin, this weather pattern might be a good thing where crops have been planted.  Meanwhile the cattle market keeps roaring.  Now Heinberg believes there may be some heat premium coming in.  His concern - consumer pushback going into Father's Day weekend and 4th of July.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Moreover, he shed light on the contrast between US and Canadian sales figures, showing similar trends in both markets.Despite potential challenges like global economic instability, Blades remains optimistic about the long-term stability of the agriculture industry. Dustin shares his story of starting out as a barge deckhand on the Mississippi, and the lessons he learned as he climbed the ladder. He shares what led him to start his company, OMNI Ag, and his podcast "Boot Pit to Boardroom".Being raised around a family-operated grain business gave him the opportunity to witness how important good people can be to an organization. His father and grandfather showed him that without the right people who are true to your company's values, your business will die. Early on, he recognized the need for leaders to support and champion their people. He took that philosophy with him throughout his career outside the family business in the agriculture industry.Dustin's first job in the industry was as a barge deckhand on the Mississippi. The work was physically demanding and dangerous but it allowed him to see the world from the perspective of those at the foundation of a company. On a daily basis, he was reminded that the company could not succeed without their buy-in and hard work. As his career advanced he was awarded more responsibility and the opportunity to lead people, starting out in operations and eventually in the corporate office leading an entire district. Dustin's travels took him to new locations meeting new challenges with a diverse array of teams. No matter where he went, he took with him the lessons learned on the barges and in the bins of his family's grain business. In Dustin's 20+ years in the industry, he's learned that no matter what business he's worked with, the key to success was always the same: Having the right people on your team is the difference between winning and losing. Many of those he's worked with have gone on to find success leading their own teams. Although different in many ways, all of those people carried with them certain winning traits.OMNI Ag is in the business of building futures, with career placement services focused on lasting success for talent and businesses alike.
