Legendary Boston PI Spenser is back in ROBERT B. PARKER'S BYE BYE BABY, the 50th installment in the critically acclaimed saga started by the late Parker and the tenth to be written by New York Times-bestselling author Ace Atkins. Over the years, fans have looked to Spenser—widely considered to be “Parker's greatest creation” (Chicago Sun-Times)—as a symbol of honor and honesty in a sordid world. Nowhere is this more apparent than in this latest entry, which sends Spenser on the campaign trail with a progressive political ingenue, who is the target of a deadly conspiracy. G. P. Putnam's Sons is thrilled to publish this electrifying new adventure. Carolina Garcia-Ramirez is a rising star in national politics, taking on the establishment with her progressive agenda. Tough, outspoken, and driven, the young congresswoman has ignited a new conversation in Boston about race, poverty, health care, and the environment. Now facing her second campaign, she finds herself not only fighting a tight primary with an old guard challenger but also contending with numerous death threats coming from hundreds of suspects. When her chief of staff reaches out to Spenser for security and help finding the culprits of what he believes to be the most credible threats, Garcia-Ramirez is less than thrilled. Since her first grassroots run, she's used to the antipathy and intimidation women of color often face when seeking power. To her, it's all noise. But it turns out an FBI agent disagrees, warning Spenser that Garcia-Ramirez might be in real danger this time. It doesn't take long for Spenser to cross paths with an extremist group called The Minutemen, led by a wealthy Harvard grad named Bishop Graves. Although Graves is a social media sensation, pushing an agenda of white supremacy and toxic masculinity, he denies he's behind the attacks. As the primary nears and threats become a deadly plot, it's up to Spenser, Hawk, and a surprise trusted ally to ensure the congresswoman is safe. This is Spenser doing what he does best, living by a personal code and moral compass that can't ever be broken. ABOUT THE AUTHORS: Ace Atkins is the New York Times bestselling author of twenty-eight books, including ten books in his Quinn Colson series. Handpicked by the Robert B. Parker Estate nearly a decade ago to continue the Spenser series, he's written ten novels about the iconic private eye. He lives and works in Oxford, Mississippi. Robert B. Parker was the author of seventy books, including the legendary Spenser detective series, the novels featuring Police Chief Jesse Stone, and the acclaimed Virgil Cole-Everett Hitch Westerns, as well as the Sunny Randall novels. Winner of the Mystery Writers of America Grand Master Award and long considered the undisputed dean of American crime fiction, he died in January 2010. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/steve-richards/support

Former Army Ranger Quinn Colson returned a decade ago to his native Tibbehah County, Mississippi, to serve as sheriff. In the last nine books of the series, he has sparred with white supremacists, collided with corrupt religious leaders, and grappled with issues of racism on his home turf. New York Times-bestselling author Ace Atkins writes, “The genesis of the series was to write about the new South, what’s happening right now. And you can’t really escape the rise of Trumpism and its effect on Southerners. I am definitely an old school storyteller, writing about a classic American hero who embraces old fashioned ideas like truth, justice, and the American way. Quinn is pretty straight ahead in what he believes.” The series’ tenth installment, THE REVELATORS (G. P. Putnam’s Sons), comes down to a climactic battle against corruption and evil. For years, Quinn has taken on Fannie Hathcock, a vicious crime queenpin who runs a sleazy strip joint next to a highway truck stop. But Fannie’s real business is running drugs, guns, stolen goods, and underage girls. So far, she’s been under the protection of crime bosses and corrupt politicians, including now even the governor of the state.
