Bruce and Stephe are a pair of lifelong Gen X friends. They decided to start recording their phone calls as a podcast. You're welcome posterity.
(Originally recorded 5/5/25) The latest MCU offering, Thunderbolts, is now in theaters. Your humble hosts both saw the film on opening weekend and convened to record a very special episode to give their thoughts on the movie. Warning - this episode does contain spoilers.
(Originally recorded 05/01/25) The show starts off with bad Back to the Future jokes (88...get it). It only goes up from there. Stephe spends some time recent work related software issues. Bruce applauds his judicious use of the Road House philosophy in this instance. What happened after that? Glad I asked. Using Silence of the Lambs as a customer service guide Fun at a Quad Cities baseball game The secret origin of Moline Dynamite Stephe's traffic adventures A preview of Thunderbolts* The Dune fleshlight popcorn bucket and all of its misbegotten spawn Weird shit we like to watch online (no...its not porn) Triumph is Canada's answer to Rush (we know! it's a joke!) A quick look at our recent demographics Crashing bible colleges More Baby Billy The Righteous Gemstones Goggins talk And, of course, we finished up with "What's on Your Desk?"
(Originally recorded 04-16-25) Welcome back to another exciting episode of SlurpToast. Tonight we don't have a theme so we just riff. We started out talking about Stephe's overly ambitious work anti-virus software. Then we did a nice long political chunk. Not normally one of topics of conversation, but these aren't normal times. That led to a brief conversation about crypto and it's striking similarity to pyramid schemes. Bruce discussed Going Infinite by Michael Lewis in connection with crypto chat. What else? Daredevil: Born Again (no spoilers) Bruce's quest to complete the Jason Statham catalog The Statham vehicle Chaos Walton Goggins The Righteous Gemstones Baby Billy COCKFIGHTER (the book AND the movie) SDCC hoteling And, of course, we finished up with "What's on Your Desk?"
(Originally recorded 04/02/2025) Tonight's episode title is our tribute to the late Val Kilmer. It's a line from True Genius and has been one of the operating parameters of our friendship for years. As discussed last time, we performed a little social experiment on tonight's show. Good to see you, Dave. Stephe had a lot to say about his week at work. It has been, well, less than stellar. Bruce discussed the latest Jason Statham offering, A Working Man. Did you know the movie is based on a book by comics legend Chuck Dixon? Neither did Bruce. What else did we talk about? Six Sigma'ing Is Jason Statham a Stallone proxy? The origin of the action flick "Line Cooks" Life on a porn crew Reading business books Stephe's enjoyment of Pokemon deck breaks "Steve is Here" The new Quad City Bandits road logo The new Oyster Catchers logo (don't look it up) MLB Opening Day Potential expansion cities for MLB We want the New Orleans Voodoo Another Papa Shango reference Micronauts Chicken Art Bruce is not buying into Kale (there's a reason) And, of course, we did "What's on Your Desk?" All this and more brought to you by the magic of AdBlocker.
(Originally recorded 3/18/25) Tonight's show is jam packed with content, just the way you like it. We started out touching on: The potential death of Funko Fundays The rebirth of the Evel Knievel stunt cycle Bruce's idea to cross promote the above with Ghost Rider Bruce's possible kidney stone Daredevil Born Again The unbelievable hat design snafu made by MLB Then the podcast was joined by Bruce's sons who wanted to pitch their idea for a podcast to your humble hosts. It's a decent idea so don't steal it. Then we got into another round of our favorite follows: wildhatsofficial celina52truckstop baseballbydesign cloudchord kundokrunch jlees_1 aamir.hydari joelsaltzman nunchucktylor elevatefiguredisplays cholo_dance_daily And we ended the show with "What's on Your Desk?"
(Originally recorded 2/27/25) We convene tonight because we have thoughts and we don't want to wait to share them. We've both seen the new MCU film, Captain America: Brave New World, and we thought we should make our feelings know before the movie moves to its ultimate streaming destination. We also chat about the pending debut of Daredevil: Born Again, the newly released image of Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and how Stephe believes The Marvels is an underrated title in the MCU. We both still hate The Eternals. This one goes deep. We rattle off the names of a LOT of Green Lanterns. Be forewarned. We, of course, play "What's on Your Desk?" Also, enjoy.
(Originally recorded 02.19.25) We came into this one with a plan. We really did. Our goal was to talk about all of the recent SNL50 programming. We are both long time SNL fans and revisiting the show's history and its importance to us seemed like a good fit. We eventually got to it and reminisced in our own unique, meandering way. We also talked about: How damned cold it is Flash tattoos for the family .38 Special Stephe's adventures at the cinema A preview of Brave New World Rosencrantz and Guildenstern The Rock - Dwayne or Sean? Zardoz Excalibur Saturday Night Slim Goodbody The agony of the Ben Cooper Halloween Costume Bruce introduced Stephe to author Alan Lee. Mental Organism Designed Only for Karaoke And, of course, we played "What's on Your Desk?"
(Originally recorded 2/5/25) Look, we recorded an episode on 2-5-25. Cool? After an unexpected layoff due to Bruce's new work commitments, the boys are back with another theme show? The theme this time? How about some of Frank Miller's most recent cover art for Marvel? Yeah, we go deep. We talk influences, style, layout and color. We also talk about a bunch of weird side stuff that makes it a lot of fun. But wait, that's not all: The trailer for Fantastic Four: First Steps The trailer Daredevil: Born Again TB in KC The Twitter wasteland The abomination that is Fantastic Four (2015) Stephe's return to Marvel's Micronauts Bruce's first time visit to the land of Peter David's run on The Incredible Hulk. All this and a very simian "What's on Your Desk?"
(Originally recorded 1/8/25) A new year dawns and SlurpToast is there to greet it. The boys get down to business with lively discussions about: What If? Landman Wicked The Howard the Duck podcast Football Stephe's youthful Broncos fandom Terry Bradshaw's hair Another death in the family Old folks Stephe's most recent trip to the ER Moonshiners Old Men and their ailments returns Skeleton Crew Fan casting Metal Men Icelandic murder shows Mondo Joey Breaux And, of course, "What's on Your Desk?"
(Originally recorded 11/25/24) It's Thanksgiving time again, kids. You know what that means? It's time for a side of SlurpToast. The episode starts with Stephe lamenting issues with frames and photos. It makes sense in context. We discuss the philosophy of "right or right now." The boys go full heel on Thanksgiving. Spoiler - they both hate it. Bruce talks about his recent trip to Vega$ (official Dan Tanna spelling). Bruce also breaks the news that he's going to get to move his half of the podcast out of the garage. Then it was on to the main event. We've talked about it ad nauseum and tonight we deliver. It's time to compare action figures (no that's not a euphemism). Stephe has collected all of the available action figures in the New Gods collection. Bruce has most of those same characters in the DC Animated/JLU style. Which characters get compared? How about; Darkseid Big Barda Mr. Miracle Orion Superman Lightray Kalibak Stephe also had a Metron and Bruce countered with a few other Fourth World JLU figures (I'm looking at you Mantis.) The show ended with the always exciting "What's on Your Desk?"
(Originally recorded 10/30/24) Our pre-Halloween/World Series episode for 2024. Bruce was giving live updates on game 6 as the podcast progressed. Look it up to see how things turned out. We also finally got around to discussing James Lee Burke's Clete. Opinions were mixed. Stephe kinda looked like Bono which may or may not have been attributable to his concussion. Yes, he had a concussion. Other topics included: Shellfish Alternate Bonos Conspiracy theory haikus The Many Loves of Dave Robicheaux The 2024 World Series Stephe's conflicted Chiefs/Broncos fandom Donald Trump The Bray Wyatt documentary of Peacock Action figure talk And, of course, What's on Your Desk?"
Originally recorded 09/25/24 What a night. We recorded while the Chicago White Sox tried to avoid baseball infamy. Stephe, an avowed ChiSox hater, rooted loudly for their demise, especially since it would benefit his beloved Royals' chances at making the playoffs. Bruce served as the ESPN ticker throughout the episode. Then we discussed the recent SDCC returning registration. Yes, we got tickets for 2025. We created Moneyball Demo Night, an opportunity for A's fans to pay their parting respects to the team leaving them behind for Sin City. We talked about what it would look like when its time for our kids to put Gen X into the home. Bruce predicts much gaming will take place. Stephe proposed that Gen X is the reason all toys have soft edges now. We shared a few stories of growing up in what Bruce called the "Evel Knievel generation." What else? How about: The Story of George the Knot Marvel's Micronauts collections Marvel's giant omnibi in general Stephe's ongoing search for Darkseid Action figure talk Figures we wished we'd kept Slow Horses Kaos Baseball: The Movie - the book And, of course, we played "What's on Your Desk?"
Originally recorded 08/18/24 After a forced hiatus, the boys are back and ready to roll up on you with their particular geek magic. Blood and sugar sold separately. Stephe opened things up with an in depth account of his trip to SDCC in July. This included Preview Night, Funko Fundays and drinking in San Diego. During this part of the conversation, Bruce took a moment to expound on his Corey Feldman as a performance artist theory. Hey, Bruce got new glasses...the Robert Downey, Jr. kind. There was another edition of Old Men and Their Maladies We discussed Gen X being forced to square dance in gym class and the chaos it created for dyslexics. Stephe had encounters with homeless folks in San Diego. They did not go how you might expect. Finally, Bruce explained the reason for the long hiatus. His mom passed away and the guys reminisced a bit about Mama Jane. She was a fan, even when she had no idea what we were talking about. She knew we were having fun and that's all that mattered to her. Bruce steered the ship out of maudlin with a mention of author, Eli Cranor, and his Arkansas crime noir. Finally, Bruce pointed Stephe toward the poster art of the dearly departed Armadillo World Headquarters. The legendary Austin hippie music venue produced some fantastic posters during their run.
Originally Recorded 06/24/24 SDCC is getting closer and the boys are getting excited. What can they possibly discuss to bide their time until Nerd-vana? How about topics such as: Stephe's vacation X-Men 97 Facebook streaming Clete by James Lee Burke House of the Dragon Bruce's two degrees of separation from "Gorgeous" Gino Hernandez X/Twitter The Future Facists of America X AI The Boys from Bunkie The magic and mystery of Joey Breaux Dating tips for Marvel's Beast Mojo El Diablo Funko Fundays Corey Feldman We also talked about our mutual admiration for author S.A. Cosby. And, of course, we played a round of "What's on Your Desk?"
Originally recorded 6/5/24 After an unfortunate hiatus, the boys are back with another podcast. While not as cohesive as episode 74, this one has variety and, as we all know, that is the spice of life. So what flavors can you expect? How about: Subarus (we own many of them) The absolution bullshit that is car sales The absolute bullshit that is salesmen Which leads to Mergers & Acquisitions The tale of Stephe's sister slamming Charles Barkley An update on Bruce's mom's health Old Men and their maladies The pure awesomeness that is Joey Breaux X-Men 97 Funko Fundays What's on Your Desk? The show was cut a bit short as Bruce had to jet to check on his mother who was being admitted to the hospital. Enjoy.
Originally recorded 4/28/24 It doesn't happen very often, but tonight the boys came in with an agenda. Some might even call it a plan. You see, we wanted to talk about the MiLB Copa de la Diversion and what we love about it. Specifically, we wanted to talk about the team logos that we loved. We did talk about some other stuff, like: Stephe bought a new car Bruce drank a Lone Star Dream Scenario Canary Stephe rewatched Bullet Train What's on Your Desk? But mostly we talked about Copa. Specifically the following teams: Mariachis de Nuevo Mexico Chicharrones de Columbia Fundadores de Fredericksburg Midland Amigos Fenomenos Enmascarados del Valle de Hudson Brooklyn Jefes Pointy Boots de Amarillo Toros Bravos de Durham Duraznos de Roma Murcielagos de Louisville Churros de San Jose Pensacola Pok-Ta-Pok Salsa de Winston-Salem Tumba Vacas de Wichita Paletas de Beloit Cabritos Maldichos de South Bend Cardinales de Springfield Perros Santos de Charleston Sacramento Dorados Lunaticos de Rocket City
Originally recorded 4/10/24 In an episode now regarded as the origin of "we talk dumb stuff smart", the boys are at it again with a wide range of topics, including, but not limited to: Being in the path of totality for the solar eclipse Stephe's year of being Hugh Grant "The Best of Us..." Bracketology and stats class Moneyball The Iron Claw X-Men 97 The secret origin of Gunslab and Bone Bruise Mark Millar writes Fantastic Four What if Gran Morrison wrote Hellboy? You get DC's Frankenstein. Longshot Clete Purcel v. Joe Pike Wrestlemania What's on Your Desk All in all, an entertaining way to spend an hour or so. Enjoy.
Originally recorded 3/21/24 It's March Madness, at least until we find another title for the episode. Don't expect a whole lot of basketball talk, or any really. Instead, strap in and get ready for more than an hour of the freewheeling geekery that has become the trademark of this podcast. We talk about: Spring Break Stephe's niece's wedding Evening Shade The very odd resurgence of the Kroftt-verse Holmes & Yoyo Karen Valentine The afterschool special entitled Birth Blackbelt Jones Antonio Banderas as Silver Surfer Stephe's first trip to Bucee's The new Copa de la Diversion team in MiLB King Kong's new Infinity Gauntlet The Beekeeper Accounting and its software (riveting) The territory days of professional wrestling "Exotic" Adrian Street And, of course, we played "What's on Your Desk?" Enjoy.
Originally recorded 02/25/24 We are back and getting in our second episode in a short month. Good on us. What did we talk about? How about: How midgets are made (ask Stephe) Stephe's impending first colonoscopy Turd stabbing Dogs have ACLs? Killers of the Flower Moon Is there value in empty Funko boxes? The recently announced casting of the NEXT Fantastic Four movie The Marvels Additional thoughts on possible Fantastic Four casting Bunkie, Louisiana The highs and lows of vintage toy shopping Days of Future Past Mad respect for cosplayers The Miguez story...again And finally, the secret origin of Dave Douglas, free lance mathematician All this and Bruce got to tell Stephe that Mid-South Championship Wrestling is now streaming on Peacock. Do yourself a favor and go there now.

Here are some of the topics we covered: The new year Our holidays College housing Signs of chivalry Godzilla The Iron Claw The Bear They Live Recasting John Nada for the modern day Katt Williams Design by committee How large a role Roddy McDowell played in our childhoods Minimalist logo redesign All that and we ended things with a solid "What's on Your Desk." Stick around to the end to hear our new outro music. Dig it!
Originally recorded 12/10/23 Heard you missed us! We're back! This isn't always as easy as it looks. Your hosts, despite their best intentions, fell behind on getting this episode to you. Why? We both got sick, but, oh no, not at the same time. We staggered it rendering us both useless for extended periods of time. We're sorry for the delay, but we both think tonight's episode will make up for our absence. Why? Take a look at this list of topics: Health updates Traffic complaints More on the joys of home ownership A quick shout out to the late Norman Lear Southern Bastards Bedazzling and other horrible 80s fashion choices SNL Stephe's adventures in Tai Chi Real Genius Doctor Who Listen to the live creation of Mayberry RIP The Legend of Paul Bunyan - LumberMech Look, we're really proud of those last two. We really think you'll like them. Give it a listen as you head to grandma's house.
Originally recorded 11/5/23 Buckle up, kids. Tonight you an episode with an actual theme. That's right, after the boys talk about some of their usual nonsense, they go full Mr. Blackwell on MLB and break down the league's City Connect uniforms. Who has what it takes? Who misses the mark? Who looks like they showed up late for a beer league? Take a listen and find out.
Originally recorded 10/8/23 Bruce relocate and the tech issues seem to be resolved. However, that didn't stop the show from going off the rails in its own glorious ways. How? Look at this topic list and decide for yourself. Stephe's upcoming time off and why he chose Minnesota DJ Drywall (there is a story) Adventures in roofing Swag and how to prepare it Fun with logos How much does an archipelago cost? Scooby Doo and the Spooky Kabuki Jabberjaw Hanna Barbera was very concerned about crime Stephe's Malaysian memories We WAY overthink Lidsville Taylor Swift Loki Warrior Bailey's Comets The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan So, we spent a LOT of time talking forgotten cartoons of our youth. We even touched on The Funky Phantom. Did in kids.
Originally recorded 10/4/23 This episode was plagued by technical difficulties that necessitated Stephe flying solo for a bit and Bruce making an emergency relocation mid-show. It was bumpy, but topics were discussed. What were they? How about: workplace training OSHA-mosis - our new consulting business The Big Lebwoski Bruce brings up his movie list of shame The Last Starfighter SDCC Only Murders in the Building Jeff Dunham The Righteous Gemstones Funk Yousef Bruce also plugged his sons' new college radio program, Hardcore Honkytonk, running every other Friday at 11 am CST beginning 10/6/23.
Originally recorded September 20, 2023 After a month long break (sorry) that saw kids moved to college and Stephe admitted to the hospital (we cover it), the boys are back and have lots to catch up on. What you may ask? How about: Candlebox College Move In The status of Stephe's basement Hospitalization from dehumidification The return of Old Men and Their Ailments Stephe's adventures at the theater Lauren Bobert's adventures at the theater What's on Your Desk? There's more, as there always is. Enjoy and we'll see you in two weeks. We promise.
Originally recorded August 15, 2023 The boys are back for the first time since their annual geek pilgramage to San Diego for Comic-Con. There's conversation about SDCC as well as: Stephe's recent sump pump issues and their effects on his home Paul's letters to the Corinthians regarding their fine leather The stand-up comedy coaching tree Cheech and Chong Monkey Jumpers (just listen) Bruce's impressions of his first Funko Fundays The liberation that comes from leaving completism behind There's more, but really, listen for the Monkey Jumpers. You'll be glad you did.
Originally recorded July 10, 2023 The boys are in full SDCC anticipation mode. That, however, doesn't mean tonight's episode isn't a good one. Stephe had been presented with the argument that Steve Martin was a "transformative comedian." Well, you can be sure we've got some opinions on comedy and comedians. It's a lively discussion about who we consider transformation comedians. We talk about comics we've enjoyed over the years and their place in the annals of comedy (ie Sam Kinison). We do our best to do bits justice. It's a lively discussion about a subject close to both hosts' hearts. We also get into things like; Ryan Gosling as Mr. Fantastic Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny The lessons of Twitter Tesla The danger of Elvis impersonators SDCC wish lists "What's on Your Desk?" follows up on last episode's discussion of the need for Jack Kirby action figures and Bruce unboxes the new Powertown Bruiser Brody figure. It's a beauty, eh. Enjoy.
Originally recorded 6/19/23 After the disaster that was Episode 60, the boys come out swinging for the fences. The technical difficulties seem to be a thing of the past opening it up for lots of good conversation. What did we conversate about? How about: Pop Tarts Stephe's daughter's trip to France Father's Day SDCC The Mystery of the SDCC Tote Bags Funko Funko Fundays The fun of the Spider-verse and it's many prepositions The Flash Jack Kirby's Kamandi Mile High Comics THE MOIST LEBOWSKI (listen to this part...seriously) Seeing Dice at Rogan's comedy club Stephe had something on his desk. Bruce did not. All that and much more is here for your listening pleasure, but buckle up, it's a long one. Enjoy.
Originally recorded 6/4/23 Well, this one was short as neither of your hosts had much to talk about this time. We were able to discuss, briefly: Home Ownership woes Stephe's daughter's graduation Connor's work with Billy Strings We tiptoed around the new Spider-Man movie (which Stephe hadn't seen yet) Ted Lasso Hillbilly by Eric Powell Grendel Then there were lag issues so we shut it down. We're going to do a special episode about Spider-Man as soon as Stephe sees the movie, so stay tuned.
Originally recorded 5/10/23 So, after the debacle that was the first attempt at episode 59, we thought we'd try again. It was a rocky start with some technical issues (which I will get resolved). Once we worked through those, we were off to the races. We talked about, among other things: Stephe's trip to Senior Honors Night The dangers of fraternal organizations Stephe rants about the grading of Funko Pops Bruce talks about his window repair earlier today The boys both lament home ownership and pine for their bachelor apartments An early round of "What's on Your Desk?" Some conversation about Marvel's Longshot How we could use Mojo and/or Howard the Duck in the MCU We talk around Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 since Stephe hasn't seen it The unmitigated disaster that was 2015's Fantastic Four movie We address the MCU Fantastic Four casting rumors going around We add a bit of our own spice to the mixture. Hilarity ensues Work frustrations and flow charts Stephe makes a case for the genius of Rob Liefeld We talk a bit about Stephe's graduation project for his daughter And we end with a hearty "that's not how its works your jerk off." Enjoy.
Originally recorded 4/11/23 Well, we went into this one without a plan, and, frankly, it shows. We started out with Stephe finishing a gourmet dinner courtesy of the Quick Trip. While he slammed that down Bruce kept the ship moving in some sort of direction. Looking for inspiration, we then went into a double round of "What's on Your Desk?" that yielded some fun results. As it does, that led into some (at this point) obligatory Funko talk including the demise of Mondo. All of this happened with laggy internet that had Stephe looking like an extra in a Godzilla movie. We talked briefly about Stephe's Opening Day 2023. The Royals lost. From there we talked about all sorts of things. What sort? Glad you asked. SDCC The pending SDCC Hotel-pocalypse We landed on a sound effect for unboxing The highs and lows of dealing with Vintage Goods Stephe's visit to K-State The rediscovered joys of Ramen Hip Hassidic Rabbis Tackling deadbeat dads Other fun follows (more next episode) Lots of SNL chatter We run down the list of SNL presidential players by memory (as best we could) How we would mess with Kevin Sorbo in an interview situation And we ended with Fanny Burps. Well, not actual ones. Just talking about them.
Originally recorded 3/22/23 It's a big day on SlurpToast. This episode we had our first streaming guest, the Mandalorian of Metal himself, Chris Smith. Chris is the author of the new book, Unreality - a novel. Chris joins the boys to talk about his new book (releasing on 3/23/23), the publishing process, his previous book, the ups and downs of self-publishing, University of Houston basketball and his guiding light, music. BUY THE BOOK HERE BUY THE MERCH HERE FOLLOW CHRIS ON TWITTER FOLLOW THE BOOK ON FACEBOOK In addition to the time spent with Chris, the boys got into some other stuff as well: An early round of What's on Your Desk? Stephe's trip to Planet ComicCon Bruce's trip to New Orleans Artwork by Den of Apathy Getting a speeding ticket in Morgan City The new Copa de la Diversion logos from MiLB Bruce throws down the gauntlet for Stephe's next "12 Days of..." viewing challenge, this on featuring Gerard Butler. The list for "The Butler Did It" is: Dracula 2000 Reign of Fire Phantom of the Opera PS I Love You RocknRolla The Ugly Truth Law Abiding Citizen The Bounty Hunter Chasing Mavericks Playing for Keeps Greenland (with the option to sub in Geostorm) Plane May Manny have mercy on his soul. And we finished up with an update on the "Give Me Tacos or Give Me Death" logo. Trust me when I say you want to keep an eye on this one!
Originally recorded 3/9/23 The boys are back after a month long hiatus that saw Stephe bored with leadership training and Bruce disfigured by a rogue tree branch. They started things off with a conversation about Funko and their plan to dispose of 30 million dollars worth of dead stock inventory. As our resident Funko Fanatic, Stephe had thoughts. After that we discussed Wakanda Forever and a new MCU fan theory making the rounds on the internet. This one actually has some legs. What else: How about: Stephe's kitchen remodel Samaritan Cobra Stallone movies in general Fine art by Lego Bruce's upcoming trip to New Orleans Bruce unboxes the new Marvel Legends Howard the Duck figure The Authority The differences between the writing styles of Warren Ellis and Mark Millar The differences between the art styles of Bryan Hitch and Frank Quitely There was some random SDCC chatter in there as well And then the show ended with Stephe invoking the name of Papa Shango. Nothing good can come from that. Enjoy.
Originally Recorded 2/6/23 It started out as an aside by Stephe in Episode 54. "We should do something about Sammy Hagar for our 55th episode." Bruce, of course, ran with it. That's how you get the music episode. Of course we ran into a bout of COVID and a Texas ice storm before we got to do something about Sammy Hagar. We start off with a tale from the SlurpToast vaults. The boys reminisce about the day they found out David Lee Roth left Van Halen and how they spent the day picking new lead singers from the available crop in 1985. Then we talked a lot about concerts, Billy Joel and our general problems with gravity. We touched on Bruce's half-bake theory of personal pop music relevance. We went into WAY too much detail about Stephe's recent float therapy experiences. I'll just say "splish, splish, splish" and leave it at that. We played a round of "What's on Your Desk?" Then we talked about the MCU's pending dive into Quantumania and Jonathan Majors' pending superstardom. Stephe talked about a recent leadership seminar he attended and its connection to Columbo. We ended things up with a quick chat about Poker Face on Peacock. That's a lot to get through, but we know if we can, so can you. Enjoy!
Originally recorded 1/4/23 Happy New Year everyone! I told you'd we back. The boys open things up by playing with Bruce's new White Elephant podcast light. Boys and their toys...right? Up next is holiday chatter. Discussion of Bruce's son's disastrous shredder work is followed up with praise for him getting a job. Then we segue into tonight's main event. In response to the glut of Hallmark movies around the holidays, Stephe took it upon himself to take on the Twelve Days of Liam. Yes, he watched twelve Liam Neeson movies so, thankfully, we don't have to. Here's the list: Honest Thief Blacklight Memory Unknown A Walk Among the Tombstones The A-Team (with lots of gunfire sound effects) Cold Pursuit Under Suspicion The Commuter Non-Stop Darkman Taken2 We all owe the man a debt of gratitude. Bruce shared his somewhat less arduous holiday viewing: Glass Onion Bullet Train Only Murders in the Building Then we spent an inordinate amount of time discussing Zardoz thanks to a meme Bruce posted. We ended with a rousing round of "What's on Your Desk?" - featuring the Dream of the Magi. What does that mean? Listen! We also mentioned Hunter Roberts' Dodge Neon bit. HERE IS THE PROMISED LINK.
Originally recorded 11/16/22 Okay, so this episode nearly became our lost episode. We recorded it before Thanksgiving, then Bruce started a new job, there were holidays and the death of a pet. Lots of stuff happened. But we are getting back on track for the new year, so enjoy this episode and there will be another one later in the week. What did we talk about? Stolen work trucks WKRP Ranking the MCU High school grievances Conan the Barbarian Roman Reigns as Lobo The Rock and Jason Statham The death of Gallagher Fun with facial hair Buyer's remorse Nolan Ryan beef Happy New Year kids! See you soon.

Originally recorded on 10/19/22 If you ever wanted to really get to know your hosts, this is the episode to do it. From there we talk about: She-Hulk Werewolf by Night Baseball More exciting CPAP talk Why the Chiefs still get to be the Chiefs The joys of Catholic guilt Enos Grandma's Eulogy Tales from the Territories on Vice What's on Your Desk Death Stories Enjoy!

Bruiser Brody and the new PowerTown figures Stryfe Arcane Bullshit (the website not the actual arcane bullshit) Politics and debates It Could Have Been Worse SNL's season premiere
Originally recorded 9/14/22 It's been a couple of weeks and the boys had a chance to cool their jets a little bit. So, if we didn't go political, what did we talk about? How about: CPAPs Thor: Love and Thunder The current state of AEW The need to bring back territorial wrestling Welcome to Wrexham Bringing relegation to US sports Harley Quinn Batman: The Brave and the Bold personal grooming General MCU chat The joy of sports suites Toy purges Panning for Legos We also ended the show with some really weird and, frankly, pretty hilarious Scooby Doo takes. Stick around until the end. Enjoy.
Originally recorded on August 28, 2022 The boys take a decidedly uncharacteristic political spin on this one. Like it or not, they've got opinions on current events. They also discuss: Harley Quinn AEW Stupid stickers Key West High school civics The Old Man and the Sea The finale of Better Call Saul House of the Dragon The Resort We play a round of what's on Bruce's desk (Minor Threats & Survival Street) And finally, we learn that Stephe doesn't know how to buy women's clothes. Make of that what you will.
Originally Recorded 8/11/22 The boys are back from SDCC and a round of COVID and here's what is on their minds: SDCC Free posters at SDCC COVID quarantine COVID viewing Harley Quinn on HBO Max Brooklyn 99 Nash Bridges Better Call Saul The Frog of Thunder Streamyard What's on Bruce's desk? Originally Recorded 7/14/22 Tonight the boys are giddy about their impending trip to Comic-Con in San Diego. There's lots of SDCC chatter. Did we talk about anything else? Why of course we did. Poker and Bruce Springsteen Stephe's Horrible Terrible No Good Very Bad Day The Boys Garth Ennis Levels of Geekdom Baul Four What's on Stephe's desk Meeting Mojo and the Predator Better Call Saul See you in California next week kids.
Originally recorded 6/23/22 Welcome to Herogasm week kids. This week's episode is a bit shorter than usual, owing mainly to Bruce being sickly. That being the case we still managed to pack a fair amount of stuff into a short period of time. What kind of stuff? Glad you asked. We discussed: The Boys (comic and television) Ode to Billy Joe (song and movie) Carter Country Matlock (no idea) The USFL Football for a Buck The Battered Bastards of Baseball MLB's City Connect uniforms Boba Fett And, we finally dipped our toes into the Multiverse of Madness. Enjoy.
Originally recorded 6/8/22 After a Robert Urich induced hiatus the boys are back with another episode of SlurpToast goodness. The countdown to SDCC begins in earnest with this episode, but that wasn't all that was discussed. There was also: Stephe still hasn't seen Dr. Strange Ms. Marvel Black Adam Thor Thoughts on things being woke Toxic fandom Glorious Trash Black Samurai The mid-career films of Sylvester Stallone Donna Pescow and the one-named female-driven sitcoms of the 70s Lumber jokes Game of Thrones The possibility of a Dennis Miller bobblehead...babe Then we played a rousing game of "What's on Your Desk?" Dr. Zaius for the win.
Recorded 5/12/22 In this episode, the boys show off a remarkable off-the-cuff knowledge about the career of Robert Uhrich. It started with a Turk-182 reference and rolled on from there, just like Dan Tanna's Caddy convertible. Sorry, doing it again. Other topics discussed include: Bruce's crazy week Stephe's adventures with multi-factor identification Moon Knight (duh) Living the CPAP life Voir Dire Brushes with the legal system Hallmark's Dream Book Strange New Worlds Other things Star Trek Ranking the Disney+ MCU shows Vega$ The newly announced Spinal Tap sequel And we ended with What's on Stephe's desk. But seriously, the Uhrich talk...phenomenal.
We are 2/3 of the way through the Disney+ Moon Knight series and we've got thoughts...lots and lots of thoughts. Why do we have so many thoughts about Moon Knight. Maybe we should spend a whole show on just that. This, however, is not that show. Instead, we talk about things like: Kansas City's Planet ComiCon house painting sooo many shades of white our desire to have Donald Westlake (RIP) write Moon Knight television shows designed to fill the nation's Raider of the Lost Ark gap in the early 80s Seagram's Golden Wine Coolers Bruce's idea for the TFL Doctor Who Better Call Saul Steve's addiction to Star Trek ship porn We also unbox a cool Gorilla Grodd that Stephe sent to Bruce And, of course, we check in with Connor for an updated count. I feel like we need a tote board. Enjoy.
It seems like it's all been leading up to this. For 40 episodes we've featured some kind of Moon Knight talk. Now, your favorite #Moonatics finally get to talk about the new Disney+ show featuring their spirit animal. Oh, but they don't start there. Oh no. They do a deep dive into the comic book origins of the character and then offer some ideas of their own. They also cold call Bruce's son, Connor, the guest on Episode 40. Yeah, they're apparently a Morning Zoo now. Other topics included: The finicky nature of Zoom Kids Planet of the Apes Ted Knight Jason Aaron The Lost City aka Romancing the Proposal Senor Noche Dive in #Moonatics. Enjoy.
This episode is an example of nepotism at its finest as the boys welcome Bruce's son, Connor, to the podcast, ostensibly to discuss the new Batman movie. The Batman was discussed as were these topics: Stephe's recent trip to Florida Thrifty Car Rental Cards Against Humanity Connor's pocasting career Adventures in the ER Moon Knight What's on Your Desk? MCU television Our Tee Public store Paul Hogan and Benny Hill Dusty Rhodes Baseball I honestly don't remember how we got to Paul Hogan. Enjoy.
Bruce comes in from an afternoon of day drinking to join Stephe for a very reflective episode of the podcast. When you've been friends this long, sometimes you tell the stories just for yourself and maybe to see if they match up. What stories? Listen and find out. We also talk about: Parker Jason Statham as Parker Robert Downey, Jr. as Parker Who would actually be a good Parker. Peacemaker ATX Cocina Southern accents Steve Miller Batman Uncharted Power of the Dog Resident Alien The world may be burning, but you can count on us to keep it light. Enjoy!
