2020 BOOTLESS PANDEMIC PANIC ON THE THEODORE ROOSEVELT. 1/4: Vectors: Heroes, Villains, and Heartbreak on the Bridge of the U.S. Navy by Thomas B. Modly (Author) https://www.amazon.com/Vectors-Heroes-Villains-Heartbreak-Bridge/dp/1642257036 Thomas Modly had an eclectic career in the military, academia, business, and government when he answered the call to service in 2017 and returned to the Navy where his career began. His experience, as chronicled in these pages, tells the story of Secretary Modly's quest to advance the Department of the Navy's preparedness for the challenges of this century. As Acting Secretary of the Navy he held fast to the mantra of “acting, not pretending,” and thus advocated aggressively for the Navy and Marine Corps' future ― a future he believed would be defined by uncertainty and unpredictability. Every Friday he wrote a personal message to the entire Department regardless of rank. Those messages were called SECNAV Vectors. Each Vector was intended to clearly communicate his priorities and to establish a rapport with all levels of the organization. The subject of each Vector was inspired by real events that occurred in real time. As these events unfolded , the Secretary's unyielding emphasis on being prepared for unpredictable events are proven to be prescient as the Navy found itself, unintentionally, in the center of COVID-19 crisis. 1918 Battle of the Falklands

We'll discuss the sides that are forming on both the result of the Daniel Penny trial and the circumstances surrounding the assassination of UHC CEO, Brian Thompson. The lines are open and we receive great calls on Syria, Health Insurance, triangle UFO eyewitnesses, and much more. Our 6th of 7 episodes during this Revenge Month takes us to America's Deep South as we talk about Robert Mitchum making Gregory Peck's life a living hell in Cape Fear. What's more, the convicted rapist threatens the lawyer's family in some of the worst way's a hateful person can. "Rape" is never spoken in the dialogue, but it's a constant theme. Mitchum plays such a clever, sadistic villain. He's one of the most-sinister of anyone on AFI's Heroes & Villains list and he could have ranked even higher on that list than he did. We also talked a lot about the dubious morality in Martin Scorsese's flashy 1991 remake, but the focus of this show is on J. Lee Thompson's tense original. So, counsellors, take dangerous matters into your own hands as this 585th edition of Have You Ever Seen pokes a toe in the river before going off the deep end into Cape Fear. For The Record: the actual Cape Fear is in North Carolina. Also, while Robert De Niro is certainly covered in tattoos in the 1991 version, he doesn't have the "love/hate" knuckle tattoos that Mitchum has in The Night Of The Hunter (and that Radio Raheem also has as knuckle rings in Do The Right Thing). Waiting in the weeds for something bad to happen would be made better if you had a container of scrumptious coffee with you. In the latest episode The Mind Shift Podcast with Erwin and Aaron McManus, we dive into a wide range of topics that explore the intricate tapestry of personal struggles, leadership, and the pursuit of happiness. Let's break down the key discussions and insights from this episode. Overcoming Personal and Professional Obstacles Our conversation opens with a personal share about my recent journey through reconstructive eye surgery. The experience was not just a medical process but an enlightening encounter with a skilled surgeon whose expertise and care made a significant impact. My son, Aaron, and I discussed the broader implications of being open about such personal struggles, emphasizing how vulnerability is a powerful trait in leadership. The Intersection of Sports and Society A lively discussion about sports brought to the surface the controversial calls in the Iowa vs. South Carolina games. We reflected on the character and class act displayed by the South Carolina women's basketball team. The conversation transitioned into how sports arenas have moved from being colorblind spaces to zones where societal tensions are more visible, a shift that calls for deeper dialogue and understanding. Leadership Lessons from the Court The heart of our episode focused on the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship game between South Carolina and Iowa. We highlighted the perseverance and trust within the team, which were pivotal to their success. Coach Dawn Staley's leadership and ability to communicate effectively with her players were key themes, emphasizing that setbacks do not define our seasons but rather how we respond to them does. Beyond Goal Setting: Happiness and Identity We often discuss setting goals as a pathway to success, but in this episode, we dug deeper into the importance of enjoying the journey. It's vital to balance ambition with well-being and personal growth, recognizing that while goals are important, they should not overshadow our happiness or self-discovery. Rediscovering Masculinity and Personal Growth In a particularly introspective segment, I shared thoughts on the cultural biases against traditional notions of masculinity, which have left many men searching for identity and purpose. Reflecting on my own life and writings, including themes from my book, we discussed how men can rediscover their primal nature through strength, discipline, and protecting others. Building Community and Mentorship As we wrapped up, the focus shifted to the upcoming Arena conference and the power of mentorship. The Arena provides a platform for personal growth and spiritual development, creating a unique environment that fosters learning and community. We also explored how to use existing relationships, like my connection with John Gordon, to enrich our community's experience and offer more targeted, impactful mentorship opportunities. --

During this horror-laden month of movies that featured plenty of serial killers, Norman Bates tops 'em all for cinematic infamy. He may be infantilized, but this sick human being sure can wield variously effective weapons when he feels the need. Now, coming up with a quality sequel to not only a Hitchcock movie---but also to the infamous Psycho---was a huge ask, but Richard Franklin did an admirable job of making Psycho II an effective suspense thriller. Just like the first flick, this story is as much a mystery as it is a horror movie...and it has its own shocking, twist ending. Psycho II isn't flawless though. We saw the merits, but also questioned the role of Mrs. Spool and we were also split on how good (or not so good) Anthony Perkins is in reprising his iconic role. So stop listening to Mother and start listening to the 545th edition of Have You Ever Seen with a sandwich and some milk by your side as we conclude our 8th Scary Movie Month. Well, Actually: Quentin Tarantino must be just pronouncing Robert Loggia's name his own way because a YouTube interview with the actor himself confirms it's pronounced the way the rest of us have been saying it for decades. Also, 15 Jerry Goldsmith movies---not 14---have now been covered between this channel (12) and Scoring At The Movies (3). Also also, Norman Bates is AFI's #2 bad guy on their Top 100 Heroes & Villains list, not #3. Sparkplug Coffee is good enough to sponsor our show. ONCE MORE URGENTLY NEEDING A GLOBAL NAVY: 1/4: Vectors: Heroes, Villains, and Heartbreak on the Bridge of the U.S. Navy Hardcover – Thomas B. As these events unfolded , the Secretary's unyielding emphasis on being prepared for unpredictable events are proven to be prescient as the Navy found itself, unintentionally, in the center of COVID-19 crisis 1938 IMPERIAL JAPANESE NAVY, INCLUDING AKAGI.

One person's "fire-breathing dragon" is another person's asshole. The zero-interest rate era is in the rearview mirror, and businesses will be under more pressure to do more with less. Between Elon Musk and Donald Trump, there is a celebration of behavior that might easily be described as assholish.
