    Ivy Insights

The Small Beginnings with Sara podcast is an incredible source of wisdom and encouragement. I have known Sara for almost two decades, and her insight has always been invaluable to me. The best aspect of this podcast is Sara's ability to share powerful stories and teachings from real-life people who live everyday lives. She brings on guests who have overcome obstacles and found success in their creative journeys, which is incredibly inspiring. Additionally, Sara's message always points back to Jesus and His amazing goodness, reminding listeners to follow God's lead in their own creative endeavors.

One of the worst aspects of this podcast is that there may be limited variety in terms of guest speakers. While the stories shared are impactful, it may benefit the podcast to include a wider range of perspectives and experiences. This would provide a more diverse array of insights for listeners.

In conclusion, The Small Beginnings with Sara podcast is a must-listen for anyone seeking inspiration and empowerment in their creative journey. Sara's authenticity and genuine love for Jesus shines through in every episode, making it easy to connect with her message. Despite any minor shortcomings, this podcast is filled with uplifting stories and teachings that will leave you feeling encouraged and excited about your own small beginnings.

"Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways, and you'll discover that I'm gentle, humble, and easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me.” — ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭29‬ ‭TPT‬‬I've been on a journey, seeking to understand God's unforced rhythms of grace. This week, that journey took me through the release of a new digital course. Instead of succumbing to the pressure of working 12 hours a day, I embraced a new rhythm: spending late afternoons playing golf with my husband. This choice to balance work and play brought a refreshing change. God wants to give rest to our souls, but it's up to us to choose it. I've been having deep conversations with God about life-work balance, and prioritizing time with Jesus through prayer, reading His Word, journaling, and walking in nature. These practices have become essential for the well-being of my soul. Simplifying my meals, like baking chicken and making a salad, has also contributed to this better balance. On top of it all, my golf game has seen remarkable improvement. Just yesterday, I chipped in a ball on hole 12, found myself mostly two-putting, and figured out my driver alignment. On a par 3, I hit my 7 iron onto the green and made par. These moments have been a testament to God's goodness. My Grief Journey—An Update

In this episode, I share my ongoing grief journey and the valuable lessons I've learned along the way. Grief is a deeply personal process, and everyone experiences it differently. Here are some key insights from my journey:Individual Grieving Processes: Everyone grieves differently, with unique feelings, timelines, comforts, and ways to heal.Embracing Grief: It's essential to acknowledge and process your grief in ways that work for you. Don't ignore your pain; let the tears come and allow yourself to heal.Unexpected Grief Waves: Grief can hit you when you least expect it, like waves crashing over you. Allow yourself to feel the pain.Unexpected Sources of Grief: You might find yourself grieving things you never anticipated. Recently, I've grieved my old backyard, my Wimberley home, my church, and more.Grief is a process with its own unique timeline for each person. I was determined to grieve well, accepting the deep pain. If you love deeply, you will grieve deeply; it is a blessing to grieve. There's beauty in moving from counting the days of grief to counting the days of blessings you had with your loved one.Daily thankfulness is crucial for making it through each day. Remember, you can't fix someone else's grief, and they can't fix yours. Instead, listen and witness others' grief. As a certified Grief Educator through David Kessler's courses and mentoring, I felt compelled to help others. Grief is overwhelming, and often we don't know what to do or say. I discovered that creativity was a significant part of my healing process. It wasn't until two years after Wayman died that I recognized the seven main creative processes I used to cope with my pain. Here are some Bible verses that have been particularly comforting to me:"Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest." (Psalms 126:5-6 NLT) Psalms 126:5-6"God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted." (Matthew 5:4 NLT) Matthew 5:4"Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes in the morning." (Psalm 30:5)Additionally, I recommend two books that have helped me reflect on grief and find new meaning:"Reflecting on Grief and Moving Beyond Pain: Living with Loss and Discovering New Meaning""Companion Reflection Journal: Reflecting on Grief and Moving Beyond Pain"I have been dreaming and knowing that I had an assignment to write and release a digital course on healing through the creative process. Grief is a process, unique to each individual, and we must process it to heal. I am excited to announce a new digital course on tools to help you heal from grief and trauma. The course, titled "Healing Your Heart through Creativity: Painting Module 1," will be available for presale on July 17 at 12 noon Central Time for $27 (regular price $47). What is God Doing in the Night?

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 6, 2024 27:07

Have you wondered what God is doing in the night? Has God seemed distant? Or disinterested?  'Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. ' Exodus 14:21 ESV  God is working in the night until the morning dawns. He sees you. He is working on your behalf. Hold on, dear one. Don't give up. God is able to bring you the dry land.  This week I celebrate eleven weeks of marriage to My Man, Earl Price. We have been having great communication about how we are doing. The challenges have become easier because we are serving each other with joy.  This morning God led me to write Earl an email thanking him for the top 10 ways I have felt his love in the last 48 hours. As I reflected on the top ten ways I have felt Earl's deep love for me, they include all of the five love languages. I find that very interesting that God showed me clearly how Earl is learning to love me so well. Here are few examples of what I wrote to him this morning. Would you consider writing a love note to people in your life thanking them specifically how they are loving you in this current season? Even if it feels like so much darkness, be the bringer of light into the equation and see how the God of the Impossible works on your behalf.  Acts of service—Earl brings me tea every morning  Quality time—he is playing golf with me a few evenings a week instead of with his regular group to give me confidence on the course  Gifts—he has ordered toilet paper on Amazon and it will arrive before we run out!  Physical touch—This does not need much elaboration (HaHa) but we know this gift of touch is one God has given us.  Words of Affirmation—I think this is maybe my strongest need and Earl is hitting a home run with this love language. He brags on my golf game and my cooking and my personality and who I am in God.  My recipe for this week is so easy and so delicious. We are eating cleaner and healthier now for one week. Earl has lost a few pounds and my success is that I have not gained. Waiting for my metabolism to kick in to higher gear without sugar.  Baked Chicken Pesto with Fresh Mozzarella  Bake for 20-25 minutes at 400 degrees F. Lay unthowed chicken breasts (thinner are best, you can also use thighs) in a baking dish oils with olive or avocado oil. Pour fresh pesto sauce to cover each breast. (I use the fresh pesto from Costco.) Layer with fresh tomato slices. I used halved cherry tomatoes to cover each chicken breast. Bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees F. Then remove from oven and add two slices of fresh mozzarella cheese on each breast and return to the oven for another 5 minutes or until melted. I doubled the recipe and had left-overs and it was as good the second night reheated.  I served it with a high protein red lentil pasta and fresh no sugar marinara sauce. The red lentil pasta was not our favorite and not sure it was worth the high protein for the cardboard texture and taste. Haha! #easychicken #newrecipe #mozzarella #pestochicken #freshmozzarella  #singanewsong #grievewell #golfgame #firsteighteen #Cookforhim #eathealthy #allnightlong #fivelovelanguages  #newmarriage #enjoylife #hospitality #newrecipes #golfgame #learnsomethingnew #enjoy #prayer #hopelives #elevenweeks #relationshipgoals #marriagegoals #communication #listthegoodthings #godisworking #inthedarkness #allnight
