Gene and cohost Tim Swartz present an encore appearance by paranormal researcher Maxim W. Furek, whose eclectic background includes aspects of psychology, addictions, and rock journalism. He has a master's degree in Communications from Bloomsburg University and a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Aquinas College. The main focus of this episode is the legend of the Philadelphia Experiment, about a purported attempt during World War II to make ships invisible to the enemy, with results that went awry. Furek will also explore the pop culture of the early days of the modern UFO field, featuring such controversial characters as Ray Palmer and Richard S. Shaver. Furek has written numerous rock biographies, as well as paranormal-themes books, such as Coal Region Hoodoo: Paranormal Tales from Inside the Pit and Flying Saucer Esoteric. He is a contributor to Fate Magazine, Normal Paranormal, and Paranormal Underground. The book Flying Saucer Esoteric: The Altered States of Ufology cxplores the chronology of “flying saucers,” tracing historical accounts of theologians and astronomers who lived in the days Before Christ to the 2023 Congressional hearings and the Mexican alien corpses myth.

On Thursday March 4th, 2021 the Hermetic Hour with host Poke Runyon will present a discussion on recent reports of an alleged underground war being waged by American special forces soldiers against a coalition of traitors and demonic aliens in a subterranean network of DUMBs (deep underground military bases ) connected to a tunnel network excavated and still inhabited by ancient Satanic humanoids usually described as “demons.” This vast underground network is said to extend worldwide. It was first revealed to the public in 1886 by French writer Alexandre St. Yves d, Alvedre, who claimed it was a subterranean kingdom under Tibet with tunnels that reached everywhere in the world. It was forgotten until 1922 when Ferdinand Ossendowski exposed it again in his best-seller “Beasts, Men and Gods.” Although he may have gotten the story from the Mad Baron of Mongolia who probably got it from St. Yves book, or perhaps from the drunken High-Lama of Mongolia who probably got it from the Mad Baron. In any case a Science-fiction writer (who was also mad) Richard S. Shaver re-ran it as series of truth-based fictional adventures in Amazing Stories right after the end of W.W. II. Shaver gathered a fan base of true-believers, including this reporter at age 16. This evil underworld was peopled by satanic mutants armed with ancient ray machines which could be used for mind-control, sadistic torture or seduction. It made great pulp fiction. Even after I outgrew Shaver, I couldn't resist making a movie based on his Mystery. In 2007 we released BEYOND LEMURIA which includes all of the elements the present Underground War Reports are featuring: Government and military involvement, Satanic depravity, child-trafficking, and UFO super-science. Tonight we will focus on these current reports and the actual evidence of these underground facilities. So if you want to know what's really down there stay tuned and we'll go down the rabbit hole.

Gene and cohost Tim Swartz introduce UFO researcher and filmmaker Dean Bertram, who talks about a documentary he's working on, "The Man Who Invented Flying Saucers." It tells the story of how Raymond A. Palmer, a disabled science fiction mega-fan became editor of America's leading science fiction “pulp” magazine, Amazing Stories, and created modern UFO belief. Palmer grew the magazine to all time circulation highs with a heady combination of hi-octane space operas and pseudo-scientific theories, culminating in something known as the “Shaver Mystery,” a series of tales by Richard S. Shaver allegedly based on real-life contact with a technologically advanced subterranean civilization, and space faring extraterrestrials, that abduct human beings from the earth's surface. As the Shaver Mystery reached its zenith, in June of 1947, pilot Kenneth Arnold reported some of the first “flying saucers” seen in American skies. His account exploded across the world. Palmer hired Kenneth Arnold, with whom he co-wrote a series of articles and a book, "The Coming of the Saucers," that recounted the case of a proto-Roswell UFO crash, Men in Black, murderous conspiracies, abductions, and missing time. In other words, the blueprint for modern UFO lore.

Gene and cohost Tim Swartz are joined by Maxim W. Furek on a fascinating pop culture and paranormal journey. He considers himself a student of the paranormal and has explored and published numerous articles on what some have called “The Coal Region Hoodoo.” With “Coal Region Hoodoo: Paranormal Tales from Inside the Pit,” Furek continues his sociological exploration of high strangeness inside the Pennsylvania wormhole that gave birth to “The Night of the Living Dead,” “The Blob,” and “The Philadelphia Experiment.” His book takes us beyond the netherworlds of Centralia, Sheppton, Chestnut Ridge, and The Pennhurst Asylum. It looks into the eyes of demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren and the twisted souls of serial killer Gary Heidnik and controversial artist and experiencer Richard S. Shaver, while exploring the preternatural secrets of Bigfoot, cryptids, Kecksburg and other strange events.

I'd love to say that there's a grand plan behind the selection of one story over another but that isn't typically the case. Oftentimes I get a request for a certain story or author. One of the reasons I started narrating these stories is that many of them had never been available as audiobooks. Being a sci-fi fan, I want to change that so everyone can enjoy them. When I found today's story and started doing research, I could find nothing else written by Bjarne Kirchhoff. In fact, I couldn't find out anything about Bjarne Kirchhoff. On Thursday August 31st the Hermetic Hour with host Poke Runyon will present a review of the recent best selling novel: "Sekret Machines - Chasing Shadows" by Tom DeLonge and A.J. Hartley. This book purports to be The Truth about "The Phenomenon" (UFOs, Ancient Aliens, the Nazi Bell et alia) presented as fiction. It is very effective as a Dean Koontz-Dan Brown style multiple-viewpoint thriller. Readers will at first believe that this is a novelized version of the "X-Files" t.v. series but the final chapter proves that the 1940s Shaver Mystery by Raymond A. Palmer and Richard S. Shaver was the real inspiration for this project. We do not say this to discredit Sekret Machines but rather to recommend it. So if you want to spend an hour in the Absolute Elsewhere, tune in and we will take the elevator down to the "deep utilities" and visit with the Deros who run The New World Order.

If that's not weird enough he also said he telepathically received record of a torture session conducted in caverns deep within the earth. When retelling the story of how he first learned of this cavern world, Shavers stories didn't remain consistent.Shaver said he quit his job and became a hobo. He was hospitalized briefly for psychiatric problems in 1934, but there does not appear to have been a clear diagnosis. For almost 10 years after that we don't know what happened to him or where he lived. Then in 1943 he wrote a letter to Amazing Stories magazine claiming to have discovered an ancient language. When the editor wrote back to him, Shaver wrote that extremely advanced prehistoric races had built cavern cities inside the Earth before leaving the Earth for another planet, but leaving some of their offspring behind. The editor of the magazine, Ray Palmer, took Shavers 10,000 word response about these cavern dwellers, rewrote the manuscript and “I Remember Lemuria!” was published in the March 1945 edition of Amazing Stories. The issue sold out and elicited quite a response. The magazine editor, Ray Palmer, said that tens of thousands of letters were sent to Amazing Stories saying that Shavers story was true. How popular was Richard S. Shaver? Well the “Shaver Mystery” as his work was known, appeared in the June 1947 issue of Amazing and the entire magazine featured his stories and only his stories. Shaver had his share of critics who were quick to point out that the author was suffering from several of the classic symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia.Today's science fiction short story was written after the “Shaver Mystery” stories had ended and contains no references to alien cave dwellers or their offspring. From Imagination Stories of Science and Fantasy in April 1953, Paradise Planet by Richard S. Shaver…Next week on The Lost Sci-Fi Podcast Alice saw the Beachcomber as a glorious hunk of man; Maxwell saw him as a super being from the future. The Thursday after Christmas, December 26th, 2013, the Hermetic Hour with host Poke Runyon will present a discussion on the lost and forgotten magical fantasy novel by the infamous science fiction hoaxer Richard S. Shaver. Actually Shaver's editor Ray Palmer was the hoaxer; Shaver believed he was writing "the truth' about the survivors of ancient extraterrestrials still living in caverns below and plaguing surface people with mind-control ray machines. This dubious expose was called "The Shaver Mystery" and dominated the pages of AMAZING STORIES, America's most popular sci-fi mag in the 1940s. Shaver's weird tales of the subterranean "Dero World" are enjoying a modest revival in reprinted editions.  We were among the first 21st century Shaver revivalists with our 2007 film BEYOND LEMURIA. In our new version of "The Shaver Mystery" we placed the Cavern World of the Deros in another dimension, a parallel world very close to our own. However Shaver himself always insisted that his underground Deros were in this physical dimension --whereas his editor Palmer insisted they were "disembodied spirits." Shaver was an empathic receiver, a rue mystic. He revealed what might be the real secret of his Cavern World in a marvelously crafted fantasy novel that never has had a title of its own. It appeared in three separate issues of AMAZING and FANTASTIC from 1947 through 1949. The first part was "The Tale of The Red Dwarf," next came the third part "Daughter of the Night," followed by the second part two years later called "Erdis Cliff." Shaver precedes Moorcock's fictional Multiverse, and even M-Theory by decades.  -- So, if you want to discover a new dimension, tune in and we'll slide down the worm hole.

We will examine philosophical. scientific, literary and cinematic models of the Multiverse, sometimes called the "Holographic Universe" or "Parallel Worlds." We will trace the idea through the "nesting spheres" of the geocentric age, to the heliocentric Renaissance, the invention of the telescope and the discovery of other galaxies and anti-matter, both in terms of science and the pages of science fiction. Our references will be Mary-Jane Ruberstein's "Worlds Without End," Michio Kaku's "Parallel Worlds," the science fiction of Phillip K. Dick, and Richard S.
