Interview with Lon Shaver, President, Silvercorp MetalsOur previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/silvercorp-metals-nysesvm-377m-cash-el-domo-build-drive-growth-in-silver-dominant-producer-8056Recording date: 15th June 2026Silvercorp Metals has reported a strong performance over its most recent two quarters, with sharp increases in net income and free cash flow largely driven by higher prices for silver, gold, and zinc rather than significant production growth. While output rose modestly, the primary driver of improved margins was the favorable pricing environment, which allowed more revenue per ton of ore without major new capital investment. Seasonal weakness typically seen in the March quarter was mitigated by expanded capacity at the company's flagship Ying Mining District in China.Despite these results, Silvercorp continues to trade at a valuation discount relative to peers. Management attributes this gap to its historical reliance on a single asset in a single jurisdiction, which has limited investor interest, particularly among those less familiar with operating conditions in China. To address this, the company is actively pursuing diversification across both geography and commodities.Key growth initiatives include the El Domo project in Ecuador, currently under construction and expected to begin production by mid-2027, and the Condor gold project, which is being advanced as a potentially low-cost underground mine. In addition, Silvercorp has acquired two gold projects in Kyrgyzstan, providing exposure to more than 6 million ounces of gold. These projects are central to a broader strategy to expand revenue from approximately $400 million today to over $2 billion within five to six years. The company plans to fund this expansion primarily through internal cash flow, supported by an unused $220 million credit facility. It is also seeking a secondary listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange to broaden its investor base. Alongside growth, Silvercorp continues to focus on cost control through electrification, off-peak energy use, and increased automation, reinforcing its position as a low-cost producer in a rising metals price environment.Learn more: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/silvercorp-metalsSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com
Tim leads the community through a contemplative exploration of vulnerability and intimacy, picking up the thread from Doug's recent teaching on the significant self. Opening with a prayer to lift the heaviness of the season, Tim moves from Paul's thorn in the flesh to the myth of Achilles — reading the famous heel as the humble, grounded place where we meet our own finitude and our shadow. He traces the etymology of vulnerable (the capacity to be wounded), weighs the doctrine of divine impassibility against the image of a suffering, woundable Creator, and draws on Richard Rohr and C.S. Lewis to argue that we become only through letting others change us. Turning to the research of Reis and Shaver, he frames intimacy as a reciprocal four-step loop — perceiving, understanding, validating, caring — that resolves not in fusion but in cared-for difference. The heart of the session rests on the one place in the Law of One where Ra speaks of intimacy between two entities: our Creator-to-Creator relationship with the Logos. Tim closes with Dunbar's number and a fractal model of how intimacy scales, the green-ray "razor's edge" of staying open while declining to be harmed, and an original parable — The Parable of the Crossing — on surrender as the only way across the deep. Members contribute reflections on humility in counseling and parenting, vulnerability in a season of relocation, and an intimate encounter of being fully seen. Key References Ra, Session 65.17 — Our relationship to the Logos (sun) as Creator-to-Creator rather than parent-to-child; widening the field of "eyeshot" across the one infinite creation. (The single use of "intimacy" between two entities in the Law of One.) Ra, Session 32.14 — Green-ray activation is always vulnerable to the yellow or orange ray of possession; the four possession distortions (fear/desire of possessing and being possessed) that deactivate green-ray energy transfer. 2 Corinthians 12 — Paul's thorn in the flesh; power made perfect in weakness. The Beatitudes (Matthew 5) — Eight blessings read as corresponding to the eight densities and to aspects of an open heart. The myth of Achilles — Thetis, the River Styx, and the heel as the site of shadow and embodiment. Richard Rohr — Jesus as the naked, vulnerable infant; becoming through relationship. C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves — To love at all is to be vulnerable; the locked-away heart. Harry Reis & Phillip Shaver — The interpersonal process model of intimacy. Robin Dunbar — Dunbar's number (~150) and the nested layers of social bonding. Erich Fromm — "I love the whole world through you." David Hawkins, Letting Go — Surrender and release. Brené Brown — Vulnerability as willingness to be seen without guarantee of outcome. Original parable: The Parable of the Crossing (Tim).

A couple of months ago our tunnel house got smacked by the wind. Young tomatoes were rescued from their spot and some of them survived in medium-sized pots. It was a matter of getting rid of that ancient, 8-meter-long tunnel house and replacing it with a new one – half the length but double the strength. The whole renovation took a few school holidays' weeks, but it looked pretty darn good. I decided to plant the few tomatoes that were still struggling in the pots and have a go in the new tunnel house. Plant them in fresh soil with Wet and Forget SeaWeed Tea as a potash-rich fertiliser. By the time they started getting into good growth again, the plants created tomato flowers with the idea of becoming tomato fruit in the future. With the tunnel house door open during the day and the odd Bumblebee inspecting the new flowers (getting nectar and pollen) the new tomatoes were getting their treatment known as “pollination”. Pollination with bumblebees is generally different from the technique of other pollinating insects. Bumbles literally vibrate the flowers in a clever and consistent matter; this allows the pollen to become dislodged and fertilise the flowers. When autumn arrived the numbers of bumblebees reduced dramatically, I needed to find an alternative assistant “pollinator”. On top of all that, the door of the tunnel house had to be closed from time to time due to rubbish weather. Did a bit of research and found that the flowers did not care a lot about sequences and electric frequencies. All you need is an electric Pollinator Wand that would vibrate and loosen the pollen within a few seconds – just move up-and-down the row. Toothbrush? Shaver? Take your pick! What is the fate of the critically endangered Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle? This smallest of the sea turtle species glides among the sea grasses and coral reefs of the Gulf of Mexico, and nests predominantly along the shores of Mexico, with a growing number of turtles nesting on Padre Island National Seashore in Texas. Hopes for this sea turtle's recovery weigh heavily on the national seashore's programs and budgeting, which are also threatened and endangered. Dr. Donna Shaver, one of the world's foremost sea turtle experts, nurtured the seashore's sea turtle science program for the past 22 years. However, for the past five years she's been battling to save the program, and her position, at Padre Island National Seashore. National Park Service officials would not allow us to discuss the plight of the Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle with Dr. Shaver. Instead, the Traveler's Lynn Riddick talks this week with research scientist Nathan Putman. He's involved in studies of the Kemp's Ridley to understand more about this intriguing species.
Former evangelism professor Chick Shaver compares the local church to a hospital nursery, where new converts are "spiritual infants" requiring specialized care and warmth. He warns that without this intentional care, many converts perish spiritually within weeks. Shaver illustrates this through Dan and Judy, a couple who faced indifference at two churches before finding a welcoming community. The intentional outreach by laypeople and the pastor ultimately led to the couple's conversion and to their own ministry to others, demonstrating that a warm congregational climate is vital for spiritual growth. He articulates a vision for a broader narrative that transcends geographical limitations, highlighting the potential for genuine love to flourish across diverse backgrounds. Wahabisme of wijnvelden? Tribalisme of tolerantie? Hoe het ook zij, de toekomst is ongewis. Het kan zijn dat we deze aflevering volgend jaar opnieuw opnemen.

Hi everyone! Today I'm talking with Bay Area photographer Ryan Shaver, who shoots exclusively on Polaroid. We get into how he built a business around instant film, what makes the medium so different to work with, and how he's carved out a unique spot in the industry.Meet Ryan: Ryan Shaver is a Polaroid photographer based in the San Francisco Bay Area who stands out in the professional photography world for shooting exclusively on Polaroid. After completing his graduate research paper, Predictive Processing for Artificial Intelligence & Cognition, Ryan leaned fully into instant film as a way to preserve memories with honesty and imperfection. In 2022, he bet that people would eventually grow tired of the overly polished look of AI-generated imagery and crave something real. He went all in on a niche few pursue due to its high costs and challenges, landing his first client within a year. Since 2023, Ryan has photographed weddings, portraits, and major corporate events — including a recent donors event at the Exploratorium — and now also serves as the Creative Director for Siempre Golden clothing brand.Connect with Ryan:Corporate Holiday Party Season is coming up, and Ryan is still taking bookings! The first ten people to book a wedding package next year, if they drop the code "SUMMER", will get 10% the total negotiated package price.Website: shaver.filmInstagram: @shaver.filmConnect with Me:Subscribe to our emails for updates on all things Summer School!SUBSCRIBE HEREShow Notes: the-summerschool.comInstagram: @summergrace.photo @the_summerschool Shop My Products:Become a Member of Summer SchoolMy Summer Grace x G-Presets (discount code: SUMMERSCHOOL)My Pricing Guide

Almost 15 years ago, University of Minnesota professor Myles Shaver made some keen observations about Minnesota's unusually high number of Fortune 500 companies. His research showed that the state's strong business landscape comes from talent in one field attracting talent from other fields to the region. The business landscape has changed over the years since Shaver published his research in the 2012 book called "Headquarters Economy." So he's working on a brand new batch of research about Minnesota's economy and why big business thrives here. Shaver joined MPR News guest host Chris Farrell to talk about the changing business landscape in Minnesota.
