Joseph Weldon Brown confessed to more than a dozen murders across seven states. He was convicted and sentenced for killing a woman whose body he dismembered and scattered across three Indiana counties. In prison, he hogtied and strangled his cellmate, then asked the judge to lock him up for life because if he was released, he would continue killing.Police detective Rick Reed was on the scene when Brown led authorities to the scattered remains of Ginger Gasaway in 2000. After Brown's arrest, he confessed to a shocking number of other heinous crimes—the torture and murders of drifters and sex workers, the cold case of a naked woman's body found in a roadside ditch, even the murder of his own mother. Detective Reed was the one man Brown opened up to—and the only one to cut through the deceptions and lies and learn the terrible truth . . .Now-retired detective Reed reveals his personal theories and insights into one of the darkest minds he has ever encountered—and one of the most terrifying crime stories ever told . . .BLOOD TRAIL: The Hunt For A Serial Killer-Rick Reed Follow and comment on Facebook-TRUE MURDER: The Most Shocking Killers in True Crime History https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100064697978510Check out TRUE MURDER PODCAST @ truemurderpodcast.com

Today, I want to share some words from Rick Reed in his Salvo Magazine article on the word Pride. Reed writes, “Until 1970, the former understanding of pride as one of the seven deadly sins was regarded as a foundational moral truth. With the advent of gay pride, the word assumed a positive connotation. The semantic shift facilitated a cultural shift from moral authority to individual preference. What right reason calls sin, individual preference now celebrates with ostentation and vainglorious ornamentation. The new use of the word has become a tool for canceling centuries of moral and cultural disapproval. Reed continues, The shift paved the way for overturning long-standing law, the established and biblically founded definition of marriage, and even the definition of what a women is. Once the principal cardinal sin, pride now denies the very existence of sin, other than resistance to its prideful demands. Parents, we need to lead our kids into establishing deep roots in the Gospel.

It seems we could almost reuse many of the introductory comments for the books of the Bible in this corner of the canon. Like Isaiah and Jeremiah before it, Ezekiel is a significant text through which to wade. Opening his work on this book, Charles Dyer wrote, "For the average reader of the Bible, the Book of Ezekiel is mostly a perplexing maze of incoherent visions—a kaleidoscope of whirling wheels and dry bones that defy interpretation. This impression often causes readers to shy away from studying the book and to miss one of the great literary and spiritual portions of the Old Testament" ("Ezekiel," BKC, 1224–25). Well, we won't shy away, but mainly because we have a lot of help. Dr. Rick Reed has served as the President of Heritage College and Seminary since January 2013 where he also teaches in the areas of preaching and pastoral theology. Dr. Reed—along with his wife, Linda—blogs regularly on his personal website. Listeners to this episode of Cover-to-Cover may be particularly interested in his ongoing series of devotional insights, Tuesdays with Ezekiel, as well as his recently published, free eBook.

Author Rick Reed discusses his Jack Murphy thriller series. In the latest installment, The Fiercest Enemy (#9), a chilling discovery in the underground mines of rural Indiana sends Det. Jack Murphy searching for the truth on behalf of the victims. In writing this series, Rick draws from his own background as a detective with more than 30 years in law enforcement. His main character is based on several detectives he has known over the years, and the books' supporting casts are amalgamations of real people.

Welcome to episode 8 of Anechoic Chamber, free form audio from the margins of arts and culture. Our guest for this edition is Rick Reed, an Austin, Texas based visual artist and electronic musician. As one of the first individuals in the area to record and perform home-grown electronic music outside of an academic or otherwise institutional framework, Rick has been a key participant in Austin's transformation into a city where the surplus of new electronic music, rather than a deficit, is the challenge to be dealt with. His even-handed and unique approach has led to fruitful collaborations not only with experimental music icons such as Keith Rowe, but also with pioneers of synesthetic film including Ken Jacobs and Aldo Tambellini. Inspired by the odd malfunctions of analog communications media (for example, de-tuned shortwave radio or distorted television signals), Reed has spent decades crafting art that hints at the ease with which reality can be completely transformed by slight perceptual shifts. We discuss this, and more, in the conversation to follow.
