Fresh off a work trip from the glittery Arabian nation of Qatar, John Strong returns to the show (Ep. 8) for the first time since his post-Russian World Cup tell-all. John talks to us about the close quarters of a Qatari winter, the pressures of doing USMNT World Cup games as an American, his own day-to-day to keep himself sharp, and plenty more of the famous off-the-clock stories of being the only English speaker in the room. Portugal 3 - 3 Spain, 2018 - Season 2, Episode 13 In our season finale we cap off our Greatest Games mini-series with Portugal 3 - 3 Spain from the Russian World Cup in 2018. Two teams vying to set the record straight after dismal outings in the tournament four years prior - one side in utter disarray, the other riding a wave of recent European success. This game was a frentenic 90 minutes of glorious football surrounded by bags of narrative. The perfect concoction. A magnificent team performance from Spain is matched by a splendid individual performance by none other than Cristiano Ronaldo. This is Portugal vs Spain from 2018. In this episode, I sit down with a friend - a curious traveler & an education advocate - Mack Moyer. We talk about his lessons & adventures that came from his decision to quit a well paying corporate job to spend a year back packing around the world (at the time this was recorded it was 99 countries) , and as I am typing this he is in his 100th spot - Costa Rica - enjoying remote work and the sun! If anyone knows a thing or two about going out of their comfort zones, it is definitely Mack! You can follow his travels @where_is_mack About Mack: Mack Moyer was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. He graduated from Salisbury University with an undergraduate degree in Marketing before moving to Seoul, South Korea at the age of 23, to be an English Teacher at a private academy. What was meant to only be a year abroad, turned into a significant chapter in his life that lasted 8 years and spanned several countries. Mack found that he loved being a teacher and he enjoyed the expat life. However, at the age of 30, Mack was given the opportunity to leverage his business education, as well as his experience in the classroom to work as a Sales Manager in Saudi Arabia for a large educational publishing company. During this time Mack also completed a Global MBA through the University of Manchester (Dubai campus). After 4 years working as a Sales professional, and 8 years in the Middle East, Mack decided to follow a dream of his. He quit his 6-figure salaried job, sold all of his belongings, packed one big rucksack, and set off on an 18-month backpacking trip around the world. This trip took him through more than 30 countries, across 5 continents. During this time Mack was able to cross off many of his bucket list items, such as dive in the Galapagos, attend the Russian World Cup, sail among the Greek Islands, and trek the mountains of Borneo to see orangutans in their natural habitat; all the while making friends with countless people across numerous cultures. These days Mack has settled down back in America (NYC to be exact) and continues to work as a Sales professional for a French-American EdTech startup. He is very happy working for a company that has made proven impact towards improving literacy rates among young learners, however he believes that he will probably go back to being an expat when this chapter of his life is over. ______________________ About your host: Elena Agaragimova is the co-founder of Bessern (https://www.bessern.co/)

It took years of cajoling, and it has paid off! Eric McKay and Patrick Murtaugh, the co-founders of Hardywood Park Craft Brewery are here at the bar and in our market at last! The guys discuss their history together, the founding of the brewery, and the mythical story of their trip to Australia. And we get to try an incredible flight of their beers including Pils, VIPA, None of This Makes Sense, Virginia Blackberry Belgian White Ale, Peach Tripel, and Tropic Like It’s Hot Sour Ale! The World Cup dominates the beer news this week! But first we begin with The Takeout (thanks @sfringer!) believing that craft lager is an oxymoron no more. Next up The Daily Beast asks are craft beer bottles an endangered species? Then we go to Europe during the World Cup competition with U.S. News and World Report revealing that beer is running dry in Moscow, followed by The Independent reporting that the UK is facing a beer shortage during World Cup and barbecue season, and we close with The Drum’s surprising news that Carlsberg has created a caviar beer to fish for fans at the Russian World Cup! We have your answers to last week’s #caskquiz which asked “have you ever visited a farm brewery? Which one?” This week we ask “who is your World Cup team and what beer are you drinking to cheer them on?” We so love hearing from you! Please send in feedback and beer suggestions by calling us at (919) 502-0280, Tweeting us, following our Instagram or friending us on Untappd, posting on and liking our Facebook page, or emailing us! And please rate & review us in iTunes or Stitcher if you haven’t done so!
