Jim and Rich dive into the crazy, complicated and confusing Grand Prix from Le Mans. The Moto3 boys kicked off the action on damp but drying tack on Sunday morning. The race was calm by the normal Moto3 standards, but the last lap more than made up for the lack of action. Kelso was looking for his first ever Moto3 win and was leading Munoz and Rueda. In the second to last turn Munoz dive bombed Kelso which caused both to go off track. This allowed Rueda to pass both of them and take a surprise victory. The Moto2 riders were forced to watch the back of Gonzalez for the whole race as he dominated. MotoGP was where all the action and surprises were. Quartararo shocked with pole position or Marc Marquez.. In the Sprint Marc used a smooth and patient approach to take the win over his brother and rookie sensation Aldeguer. On Sunday the weather played havoc with everyone as new rules caused chaos. Picking the right tire was critical as some riders went from slicks to wets to slicks and back to wets. However the man who made all the right calls was Zarco. He became the first Frenchmen to win the French Grand Prix in 71 years. Why did so many other riders who had the chance to match Zarco's strategy choose not to?Did the new rules prompted by Marquez's dash off the Austin grid work on their first appearance and was this actually a great race (Matt thinks so and Val sort of agrees) or a rubbish and processional non-spectacle? (Simon thinks so).Want more MotoGP podcast content? Sign up to our motorbike-only Riders tier on Patreon for our 2015 revisited series, ad-free listening and more. Hi everyone! This week, I am thrilled to introduce Doyle Glass, a former criminal prosecutor, an American historical novelist, and a sculptor who brings us the powerful story of the young men who fought in Vietnam. Doyle's journey is one of passion, perseverance, and the desire to preserve the untold stories of those who served. His book, Swift Sword, is a tribute to the Vietnam War veterans whose real experiences were often overlooked or forgotten. Tune in for an unforgettable conversation about history, healing, and the importance of telling the truth. IN THIS EPISODE: [1:31 Doyle's background is shared, and he discusses the story of Swift Sword [3:24] Doyle gave up his role as prosecutor and his passion for these veterans [6:02] Why weren't these stories documented [8:17] How did Doyle find the subjects for his book [10:01] Doyle's life experiences at the time of the writing of the first edition [12:40] Doyle shares the backstory of what we are about to hear [18:21] We hear an excerpt from Swift Sword KEY TAKEAWAYS: The Vietnam War left deep pain and division, causing many to avoid documenting veterans' true stories. Unlike WWII, Vietnam was marked by controversy and a desire to forget. As veterans pass, their stories risk being lost, a gap the writer seeks to fill with his books. The writer faced a tough journey creating his book, as many veterans were reluctant to share painful memories. After years of interviews and personal hardships, including caring for his terminally ill wife, he rediscovered the transcripts a decade later and completed the book after two decades. Doyle's book on the Vietnam War appeals to the Americans who fought in the Vietnam War and their families, as well as to lovers of history. Many readers, including the children, grandchildren, and relatives of veterans, seek a deeper understanding of what their loved ones experienced. The book serves as a way to preserve and uncover the "real truths" of those who fought, capturing a legacy that might otherwise be lost. It's amazing. We thought MotoGP was the regular series that had the most potential problems heading into 2024 and it's delivered new ownership, three classic races in a row, and a likeable new set of regulations. Who'd have thought? Jorge Martin held his nerve in an incredibly intense French GP in front of 120,000 rabid home fans, as Marc Marquez took some revenge on Francesco Bagnaia after beating him with a stunning final lap divebomb. Martin after another perfect Sprint/Win double, now has a 38-point lead in the standings. But will it be enough for him to claim the Factory Ducati seat over Marquez or current resident Enea Bastianini? We also talk about the the new regulations and there's some big changes planned. Ride-height and holeshot devices banned? Fairings reduced in width and shorter from the front. Fuel reduced to 20 litres from 22. Rear aero now included in homologation. And engine displacement reduced from 1000cc to 850. But will it work? And will there be after-effects? All that and more on another loaded Motorsport101!

Welcome to Episode 137 of the Everything Moto Racing podcast! We hope you enjoy it! In this episode, we discussed the French Grand Prix, including Jorge Martin's stunning display, Marc Marquez on fire, the title race hotting up, plus who Ducati will sign in 2025, Moto2 and Moto3 races, and more!
A thrilling French Grand Prix at the fifth round of the 2024 MotoGP season looks to have drawn the battle lines for a three-way title fight. Pramac Ducati rider Jorge Martin put in a perfect weekend to claim pole, sprint and grand prix wins, the latter coming after absorbing immense late pressure from Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia. Martin is now 38 points clear in the standings and put in the best weekend of his career at a point in which Ducati is nearing a final decision on its second factory team rider for 2025. He is facing stiff competition from Marc Marquez, though, who came from 13th on the grid to finish second in both the sprint and the grand prix to move to within 40 points of the championship lead. Having scored his first grand prix podium of the year at Jerez, Marquez is now proving consistent on the year-old Ducati and has set his sights firmly on a factory bike for next year. On the latest Tank Slappers podcast, Autosport's Lewis Duncan and Motorsport.com's Oriol Puigdemont discuss Martin and Marquez's races and what they mean for Ducati's 2025 decision. They also look at the ongoing troubles for Honda after another dismal weekend, while ponder what the 2027 regulations will do for MotoGP.
On this week's episode, we discuss the epic French Grand Prix for MotoGP. As Jorge Martin shows Ducati why he is the man for 2025 by winning both races in Le Mans. Marc Marquez delivers two epic comeback rides from P13 to P2, which sees Ducati management struggle even more to decide who Pecco Bagnaia's teammate will be next season. The World Champion, who suffered another DNF in the sprint, showed his toughness by finishing the GP in 3rd place. 11 races down, 11 to go. F1 2022 Part 2 starts this weekend at the Circuit Paul Ricard. Ferrari have momentum and are looking for a third consecutive win, but will this racetrack's long front-tyre-punishing corners hand the advantage to Red Bull? Can Mercedes make it a three team fight? Which driver has raised their game after ‘staring into the abyss'? Tom Clarkson's joined by 1996 French GP winner and F1 World Champion Damon Hill, fresh (or maybe not) from taking on one of the Tour de France's toughest climbs. Former Ferrari race-winner Gerhard Berger joins the team to give his take on Max Verstappen vs Charles Leclerc, pick the star performers of the season so far and to look ahead to the 2022 French Grand Prix.
