This week on the Your Golf Performance Podcast, I sit down with lifelong friend and highly respected golf coach Christian Rainey. Christian's journey in golf has taken him from Australia to the United States to compete in college golf, before returning home to work with some of Australia's best young players as a state coach with Golf Australia. Following college, he also spent time caddying at the iconic Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in New York, one of the most famous venues in world golf and host of this week's U.S. Open. In this episode we discuss:
In this week's Wednesday Wisdom, I discuss the art of getting better at golf and why improvement starts with understanding where your game really sits. I break down how many greens in regulation golfers of different handicap levels typically hit, and why having realistic benchmarks can help you focus your practice on the areas that matter most. I also dive into the importance of slowing down your breathing on the golf course and how controlling your breathing can help settle your nerves, improve decision-making, and ultimately lead to better golf shots. Finally, I discuss one of the most valuable skills in golf: the ability to take a mental reset between shots. Bad holes and poor shots happen to everyone, but the players who avoid the downhill spiral are often the ones who can reset, refocus, and move forward without carrying frustration to the next shot. If you're serious about improving your golf, this episode will give you practical strategies you can start using immediately.Training Aids & Discount CodesBack 2 Basics Putting – Use the code YGP10 for 10% off or Click Here for 10% offDivot Board –Use the code YGP for 10% off or Click here for 10% off Strike Wedge – Click Here for 15% off Ryp Golf Speed Training – use the code YGP at check out for 10% off! This week on the Your Golf Performance Podcast, I sit down with PGA Professional and Head Teaching Professional art Long Reef Golf Club, Michael Infanti. Michael's coaching philosophy is simple: "Simplicity is Key." After completing his PGA traineeship at Penrith Golf Club and spending time playing professional golf, he found his true passion in coaching. Since joining Long Reef Golf Club in 2016, Michael has built one of the strongest junior and women's golf programs on Sydney's Northern Beaches while helping golfers of all levels improve their games. In this episode, we discuss:Why simplicity is so important when coaching golfThe biggest mistakes club golfers makeWhat separates elite players from the average golferBuilding confidence and improving performance on the golf coursePractice habits that actually lead to improvementLessons learned from coaching beginners through to elite playersWe also dive into Michael's incredible personal story. Over the past decade, Michael has battled T-LGL Leukemia, and just 12 months ago was diagnosed with stomach cancer that rapidly progressed to Stage 4. After intensive chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and major surgery that saw his entire stomach and part of his bowel removed, Michael is now cancer-free and in remission. His story is one of resilience, perspective, gratitude, and determination. Michael shares the challenges he faced, the mindset that carried him through the toughest moments of his life, and how the experience has changed the way he approaches golf, coaching, and life itself. This is a powerful conversation about golf, adversity, and finding purpose through life's biggest challenges.
Wednesday Wisdom: "Swing Your Swing" – The Most Misunderstood Advice in Golf. One of the most common phrases you'll hear in golf is, "Just swing your swing."And to a point, I understand what people mean. When you look at the best players in the world, not everybody swings the club the same way. Jim Furyk, Matthew Wolff, Bubba Watson, Scottie Scheffler – they all have movements that look unique. But here's what most golfers miss...Those players have spent decades building those swings. They've hit millions of golf balls. They've learned exactly how to time those movements and make them repeatable under pressure. The average golfer doesn't have that luxury. Most golfers work 40 or 50 hours a week. They might get to the range once or twice and play on the weekend. They simply don't have 100 hours every week to perfect compensations and unusual movement patterns. That's why I don't fully agree with the advice of "just swing your swing."For most golfers, the goal shouldn't be to make a flawed motion work. The goal should be to build a motion that requires less timing, less compensation, and less practice to produce a reasonable result.Good golf swings aren't necessarily about looking pretty. They're about putting the club in functional positions often enough that when you arrive at the first tee on Saturday morning, you've got a chance.Because enjoyment comes from hitting some decent shots. It comes from seeing the ball fly roughly where you intended. It comes from not standing over every shot wondering whether today's timing is going to show up.Tour players can get away with unusual movements because they've invested years into owning them. Most amateurs are far better served by developing sound fundamentals.Better grip.Better setup.Better clubface control.Better impact conditions. Those things don't make golf easy, but they make golf more predictable. And for most golfers, predictable golf is enjoyable golf.So instead of "swing your swing," maybe the better advice is:Build a swing that works when life gets busy.Build a swing that still functions after a long week at work.Build a swing that doesn't require perfect timing. Build a swing that lets you enjoy the game more often.Because at the end of the day, that's what most golfers are really chasing.Training Aids & Discount CodesBack 2 Basics Putting – Use the code YGP10 for 10% off or Click Here for 10% offDivot Board –Use the code YGP for 10% off or Click here for 10% off Strike Wedge – Click Here for 15% off Ryp Golf Speed Training – use the code YGP at check out for 10% off! This week, Jinty and Lou sit down with Rosie Taylor, award-winning investigative journalist, broadcaster, media consultant, and host of the Mother Bodies podcast. Rosie has spent a decade reporting on women's health and family life for some of the UK's biggest publications. But what sets her apart is this: she hasn't just reported on the crisis in maternity care, she's lived it. Her own experience of birth trauma sent her on a mission to understand what is going wrong in our maternity system, and she has been reporting and campaigning on it ever since. In this powerful and eye-opening conversation, we explore: → How Rosie went from personal anger to understanding this as a systemic failure.→ Why postnatal care is described as the "Cinderella" of midwifery and why just £250 is allocated per woman postnatally vs £2,800 for antenatal care.→ The shocking dismissal of women in crisis including one who was told "stop making a fuss, everyone has babies" while suffering massive internal bleeding.→ The paradox of understaffed maternity wards and newly qualified midwives unable to find jobs.→ How racially minoritised women, disabled women, and those facing economic hardship are being failed most severely.→ Whether the 12 recommendations from the 2024 maternity inquiry are being acted upon and why nearly two thirds of maternal deaths happen postnatally.→ How patriarchal medical systems have systematically stripped power from midwives and mothers.→ What excellent maternity care actually looks like, and where we go from hereWe also chat about our week, including a new film that's just dropped and exactly how much alcohol is being drunk in parliament. Hear us rant! We end with something beautiful to carry you through the week.
Aron Price: PGA Tour Life, Identity Beyond Golf & A Second Shot at the U.S. Open What happens when your dream comes true… and then it ends? This week on the Your Golf Performance Podcast, Brent sits down with former PGA Tour player Aron Price to discuss the highs and lows of professional golf, the challenge of building an identity beyond the game, and his incredible journey from the PGA Tour to a successful career in real estate. Aron opens up about the pressure of elite competition, how results can become tied to self-worth, dealing with imposter syndrome, and the difficult transition many professional athletes face when their playing career changes direction. The timing couldn't be better. After advancing through the first stage of U.S. Open qualifying, Aron is now just one step away from earning a spot in one of golf's biggest championships. We explore what it's like chasing that dream again, this time with a completely different perspective on life, golf, and success. A powerful conversation about resilience, identity, perspective, and finding purpose both inside and outside the ropes.
In this Wednesday Wisdom episode, I dive into one of the biggest separators between average golfers and players who actually improve long term — investing in yourself.I reference LIV Golf winner Lucas Herbert and how, after earning one of his first big paydays in professional golf, he immediately reinvested into his career by surrounding himself with the right team: coaches, physios, fitness trainers, and mental performance support.Too many golfers say they want to improve, yet they continue to guess their way through practice, avoid the uncomfortable work, and spend more time doing what feels good instead of what actually moves the needle. In this episode, I talk about:Why the best players in the world treat golf like a performance lifestylePlanning practice with purpose instead of just beating ballsGolf-specific gym work and recoveryNutrition and hydration habits that impact performanceThe value of coaching and understanding that improvement isn't always instantWhy working on weaknesses matters more than feeding your egoIf golf is your main passion, hobby, or dream — start acting like the players you admire. In this week's Wednesday Wisdom, Brent dives into a simple shift that can completely change how you view your own golf… Stop following the PGA Tour — and start following a player. When you watch the PGA Tour highlights, you're seeing the absolute best of the best, at their absolute best. Flagsticks getting attacked, putts dropping from everywhere, and scorecards that look almost unrealistic. But that's not real golf. In this episode, Brent explains why following an individual player gives you a far more accurate picture of what the game actually looks like — the ups, the downs, the missed cuts, the bounce-backs, and the grind in between. Because the reality is:Even the best players in the world have bad weeks. And understanding that might just be the thing that helps you stay patient, manage your expectations, and improve faster.Training Aids & Discount CodesBack 2 Basics Putting – Use the code YGP10 for 10% off or Click Here for 10% offDivot Board –Use the code YGP for 10% off or Click here for 10% off Strike Wedge – Click Here for 15% off Ryp Golf Speed Training – use the code YGP at check out for 10% off! Brent sits down with rising Australian star Raegan Denton to unpack one of the most exciting junior-to-elite journeys in golf right now. Growing up in the small coastal town of Coffin Bay, Raegan didn't follow the typical pathway. With limited options around her, she picked up a golf club alongside her brother — and what started as something to do quickly turned into something much bigger. In this episode, Raegan shares when she first fell in love with the game, the moment she realised she could compete with the best, and the practice habits that have helped her rise to the top of Australian amateur golf. She also opens up about her experience competing on one of the biggest stages in the game, how she stays calm under pressure, and why she doesn't feel the need to constantly watch golf to improve. Brent and Raegan dive into:The early years and getting hooked on golfPractice habits that actually move the needleThe role of gym work and physical developmentCompeting at the highest level as a juniorMindset, expectations, and staying composed under pressureHer move to LSU and future goals in the gameAdvice for junior golfers and parentsThis is a must-listen for anyone serious about improving — or understanding what it really takes to become one of the best.Training Aids & Discount CodesBack 2 Basics Putting – Use the code YGP10 for 10% off or Click Here for 10% offDivot Board –Use the code YGP for 10% off or Click here for 10% off Strike Wedge – Click Here for 15% off Ryp Golf Speed Training – use the code YGP at check out for 10% off! In this episode, we sit down with Rich Beem — major champion, fan favourite, and one of the most honest voices in golf. Rich takes us inside his incredible win at the 2002 PGA Championship, going toe-to-toe with Tiger Woods down the stretch, and what it really felt like to close out one of the biggest events in the game. Brent actually became a fan of Rich after reading about his journey 20+ years ago — drawn to his personality, honesty, and the very different path he took compared to the modern, ultra-structured Tour player. We dive into that side of his career — the lifestyle, the lack of structure at times, and how it all played a role in both his success and inconsistency. This is a raw and honest conversation about:What it actually takes to win at the highest levelThe reality of life on Tour (that most people never see)Whether he left anything on the tableAnd what he would do differently if he had his time againFor junior golfers, parents, and anyone chasing improvement — this episode is full of perspective, lessons, and a few stories you won't hear anywhere else.Aim Point Classes Sign Up HereWin a $350 True Protein Gift Pack - Sign Up HereSign up for the free course/library of 22 drills to help you get better at golf hereWe thank Titleist - The number 1 brand in golf for their continued support of the YGP Podcast!

We're airing a re-run today of one of our most popular podcast episodes with Dr. Laura Markham. Most parents think that if our child would just "behave," we could maintain our composure as parents. The truth is that managing our own emotions and actions is what allows us to feel peaceful as parents. Ultimately we can't control our children or the hand life deals them—but we can always control our own actions. Parenting isn't about what our child does, but about how we respond."In this podcast we interview one of our FAVOURITE parenting experts Dr. Laura Markham, Clinical Psychologist, best-selling author of the book "Peaceful Parent, Happy Kids" and "Peaceful Parents, Happy Siblings" and founder of AHA!Parenting where we talk about how to keep our cool as parents! Send episode requests hereWe live in a time where women have more choices than ever before. We can buy our own property…we can go to school for whatever…we can choose our own careers, we can play professional sports. We can even go to war if we want to. And even with all of these modern freedoms…we still have societal chains that keep us in bondage……that keeps us from TRULY being who we want to be and DOING what we want to do. And this directly impacts our ability to have deep, authentic dating experiences and abundant, expansive love lives. In today's episode, I expose how Women of Faith have allowed the “Good Girl Complex” to keep them small in their love lives. We are trading our personal freedom to be slaves to our comfort zone and for people pleasing and male approval. And it's destroying the way we live and love because of fear and shame. HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DISCOVER: . What it means to “fall in love” and why you should be doing it as often as possible while dating. How Caresha (Young Miami) chose her own romantic path, but is still triggered by it. The real reason why “good girls” police other women's life choices concerning her body, sex and dating practices. The truth of how following male relationship gurus really condition you to stay under male domination and control. Why men will praise you for being “wife material”, but never try to make you their wife. If you're tired of working harder and getting the same results… this episode is for you. Most people don't fail because they lack effort. They fail because they repeat the same thinking, habits, and identity—year after year—with new goals but the same outcomes.Today on the Crackin' Backs Podcast, we go beyond motivation to expose the invisible mental patterns that quietly control discipline, confidence, and performance under pressure. We're joined by Max Rooke, peak performance coach, author, speaker, and Associate Head Coach at Pepperdine University Women's Soccer, to break down the real mental game reset successful people need in 2026.In this episode we explore:• Why your habits, identity, and thinking—not effort—determine your results• The mental patterns that sabotage confidence, focus, and execution• What top performers fear more than failure• How nervous system regulation beats willpower every time• The one internal skill that separates clutch performers from quiet collapsers• Three daily mental habits that actually rewire confidence and self-trust• How breakthrough moments change everything—if you lean inWhether you're an athlete, coach, entrepreneur, or high-achiever quietly struggling with self-doubt, performance anxiety, or inconsistency, this conversation will change how you think about success, identity, and the mental work that actually matters.About Max RookeMax Rooke is a performance coach, author, speaker, and Associate Head Coach for Pepperdine University Women's Soccer, specializing in helping high performers master the mental game of confidence, decision-making, and consistency. You know that color-coded spreadsheet you created? The planner you swore was the one? The system that was going to finally fix everything?...and now it's collecting dust.If you've ever stopped using a system and made that mean something about your discipline, your consistency, or your competence, this episode will shift something.Because what if the system isn't the problem? What You'll LearnWhy your abandoned planner or spreadsheet is not proof that you're lazy or inconsistentThe real reason you create systems in the first place (hint: it's not about organization)The mindset shift that turns a 60-minute “get back on track” project into a 2-minute check-inHow systems can quietly become performative and actually keep you stuckThe simple question to ask when you feel like you've “fallen off the wagon”If This Resonates…If you're tired of shoulding on yourself about not sticking to the plan...If you're the competent one everyone relies on, but secretly you feel behind…If you want systems that actually support your ADHD brain instead of shaming it…I'd love to help.
What if spine surgery isn't the breakthrough—it's the backup plan?In a world where millions are told “scalpel first” for back pain, joint degeneration, and nerve issues, a quiet revolution is happening in regenerative medicine, non-surgical spine care, stem cells, exosomes, and peptides. On this episode of the Crackin' Backs Podcast, we sit down with one of the true pioneers in the field—Dr. Jeff Gross, a spine-fellowship trained, board-certified neurosurgeon who's pushing healing beyond the knife and toward regeneration.Dr. Gross has spent over two decades treating back pain, neck pain, disc issues, and sports injuries using both traditional neurosurgical expertise and the latest in regenerative therapies, helping thousands of patients find alternatives to spinal surgery and accelerate healing naturally. In this episode we break down:• When stem cells and exosomes actually help back and joint pain• How peptides are being used responsibly in regenerative care• The filters Dr. Gross uses to decide who truly needs surgery—and who doesn't• What the science actually says (and what's hype) about regenerative spine repair• How doctors can match the right biologic tool to the right problem• What real healing metrics look like—beyond pain scores and imagingIf you've ever typed “Can stem cells fix my back?”, “alternatives to spine surgery”, or “non-surgical regenerative spine care” into Google… this episode finally gives you evidence-based answers from someone who's lived both sides of the scalpel. About Dr. Jeff GrossDr. Jeffrey Gross, MD is a spine fellowship trained neurological surgeon practicing in Nevada and California with over 20 years of experience treating complex spine and joint conditions. He is the founder of ReCELLebrate, a regenerative medicine clinic based in Las Vegas focused on stem cell therapy, exosome treatments, longevity consultations, and biohacking strategies that help patients heal, reduce pain, and improve overall health without immediate surgery. Dr. Gross has also authored scientific publications, spoken internationally, and helped thousands of patients explore non-surgical options for chronic pain. Send episode requests hereWe've been told that at a certain age, especially as Black women, our options dry up. That if you're divorced, over 35, a single mom, or plus-sized, you should just take what you can get. But I'm 38, divorced, and I only date men who invest in me—emotionally AND financially. In this episode, I'm breaking down exactly what shifted for me to get here. You'll discover why trying to prove you're "not a gold digger" attracts the bottom of the barrel, what happens when you start asking for everything (even when you can afford it yourself), and why the men who tell you "men won't do that" are just telling you what they won't do.Ready to stop playing small and start receiving what you actually want? 2025 is quickly coming to a close and what an honor it was to sit down for an intimate conversation with Carl Broemel in his hometown of Nashville for the 300th episode of Roadcase!! Carl is best known for his work in My Morning Jacket, and has released a series of notable solo projects over the past several decades. His upcoming album, Celestun, set for release on January 15, marks a continuation of his work with longtime collaborator Tyler Ramsey, formerly of Band of Horses. In this landmark year, My Morning Jacket released both a new album, “IS,” and celebrated the 20th anniversary of the album “Z” in a year-long celebration of spectacular live performances.Carl talked to me about how he sees the current state of the band, and he discusses with me exactly how he goes about continuing to feel refreshed and energized in this ever-changing musical landscape. Carl shares with me many of his “life hacks,” as we discuss the importance of being in the moment, and the unstoppable force of incremental growth in pushing forward towards one's life goals, whatever they may be.=======================================Episode Chapters:00:00 Episode Intro with Host Josh Rosenberg04:05 Reflecting on a Year of Music and Growth06:59 The Spiritual Connection in Music09:59 The Creative Process Behind 'Is' and 'Z'12:49 The Live Performance Experience15:47 Navigating the Challenges of Touring18:49 The Influence of Family and Background21:54 The Journey of Self-Discovery in Music24:45 The Importance of Incremental Growth27:31 Finding Balance in a Chaotic World30:43 The Joy of Collaboration and Connection33:33 Exploring New Horizons in Music and Life54:25 Resonating with the Crowd58:09 The Power of Community and Incremental Growth59:21 Navigating Stardom and Popularity01:04:17 The Challenges of Modern Music Promotion01:04:30 Maintaining Humility in Success01:10:04 The Emotional Connection to Music01:13:08 The Journey of Finding Your Place in Music01:20:39 Exploring the Dynamics of Band Relationships01:22:38 The Solo Experience and Personal Growth01:25:21 Stripping Down to Basics in Music01:31:04 Reflections on Spirituality and Music01:18:33 The Solo Experience and Personal Growth01:21:16 Stripping Down to Basics in Music01:26:59 Reflections on Spirituality and Music01:38:34 Episode Outro with Host Josh Rosenberg=======================================For Carl Broemel and Tyler Ramsey tour dates, click hereWe discussed the book Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman: Click hereFor more information on Roadcase:https://linktr.ee/roadcasepod and https://www.roadcasepod.comOr contact Roadcase by email: info@roadcasepod.comRoadcase theme music: "Eugene (Instrumental)" by Waltzer

Ever feel your body slam on the brakes at the worst moment—or light up just from someone's tone of voice? That's your nervous system running the show. In this episode of the Crackin' Backs Podcast, polyvagal performance coach Michael Allison (Polyvagal Clinic / The Play Zone) shows us how to find clarity in chaos and silence within the noise—teaching practical tools to shift from stress to calm, from pressure to play right when it counts.Michael breaks down Polyvagal Theory for non-experts—what it is, why it matters for peak performance, and the top myths he wants coaches and clinicians to retire (looking at you, oversimplified “fight-or-flight” narratives). Then we dive into his frameworks: The Play Zone and Autonomic Agility™—how to read your physiological state, respect its impact on performance, and shift under pressure. You'll get a crisp 90-second routine Michael uses with athletes and performers (such as high end tennis professionals and golfers) and learn exactly what a coach should observe and what the athlete should feel when it's working. Why listen? Michael's methodology is endorsed by Dr. Stephen W. Porges, developer of Polyvagal Theory, and he trains coaches globally through the Polyvagal Institute—working across MLB, NBA, ATP/WTA, FIFA, NCAA, and more. If you want nervous-system regulation, vagus-nerve-informed performance, and state shifts on demand, this episode is your playbook.Learn more about Michael AllisonThe Play Zone (programs, coaching, resources): HEREPsychology Today column (“The Pressure Paradox”):Instagram (updates & clips): HEREWe are two sports chiropractors, seeking knowledge from some of the best resources in the world of health.
