This feeling was exacerbated by changes to the temple ceremony, which left him spiritually unsatisfied. His search for answers led him to the writings of Denver Snuffer, specifically Passing of the Heavenly Gift. However, Snuffer's thesis—that the Restoration had essentially failed—left Francom feeling cynical and depressed. Finding Light in “Lost” Doctrines Francom’s path took a turn when he discovered the works of fundamentalist author Ogden Kraut. Unlike Snuffer's work, Kraut's writings on “lost” history and doctrines, such as prayer circles in the home and the Adam-God doctrine, rebolstered his faith and testimony. Francom describes receiving a personal spiritual witness of these doctrines, which created a wedge between him and mainstream LDS leadership, whom he felt had been untruthful about Church history. Rejecting “One-Manism” A central theme of Francom's transition is his rejection of “one-man doctrines“—the belief that priesthood authority is a rigid control structure funneled through a single living prophet. After investigating various groups like the AUB and the Peterson group, Francom found that they often emulated the same authoritarian behaviors he found troubling in the LDS Church. This led him to remain an independent Mormon fundamentalist, believing that the true vision of the Restoration was to create a “nation of prophets and priests.“ Reimagining Priesthood Authority as Mormon Fundamentalist The summary of Francom’s theological shift concludes with his introduction to a new interpretation of Section 132 via Sean Anderson. He argues that the “one man” referred to in scripture relates to the serial nature of conferring the fullness of the priesthood (the second anointing) rather than a restriction on how many people can hold the authority at once. By viewing priesthood as something to be perpetuated and shared rather than controlled, Francom finds a way to maintain his testimony of Joseph Smith and the temple while remaining outside of traditional institutional boundaries. Some members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe that their church has become staid, legalistic and bureaucratic. They yearn for more of the mystical encounters espoused by church founder Joseph Smith and his early followers. In 2006, Utah attorney Denver Snuffer published “The Second Comforter: Conversing With the Lord Through the Veil.” It became an overnight sensation with those Latter-day Saints who wanted more spiritual experiences. That book and the volumes that followed attracted the attention of church authorities and, in 2013, Snuffer was excommunicated. Hundreds of other members joined him at gatherings and in small groups and thus was born the Remnant movement, which today touts thousands of adherents. On this week's show, Snuffer discusses the movement — its past, present and future — and his views of Mormon founder Joseph Smith, pioneer-prophet Brigham Young and current church President Russell M. Nelson, along with his experiences with deity, expanding scripture and more.

In this episode we interview Tanner Gilliland and Samantha Snyder.  Tanner was raised as an orthodox Mormon in Tucson, Arizona.  Samantha converted to the LDS Church in the U.K.  Both lived very orthodox LDS lives as millennials, attending BYU-Idaho as devout members, and interning for Deseret Book after graduating from BYU-I.  Samantha co-founded the web site Millennial Mormons.   As Tanner and Samantha began to question the modern LDS Church, they briefly entertained the teachings of Denver Snuffer (Tanner was actually re-baptised according to Snuffer's teachings).  Earlier this year, both Tanner and Samantha left the LDS Church, and recently co-founded the new post-Mormon millennial blog called ZelphOnTheShelf.com.As recent reports suggest that the LDS Church is losing its Millennial members at a rapid pace (see here and here), this interview begins to explore why.

Rock Waterman is a prominent Mormon blogger who maintains belief in all of the fundamental LDS Church truth claims (e.g., God, Jesus, Joseph Smith, Book of Mormon).  His beliefs are similar to those of Denver Snuffer, in that he believes that the modern, corporate LDS Church is  failing to follow the teachings of the Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants, and consequently has strayed from Christ's and Joseph Smith's core teachings.   In this episode we discuss Rock Waterman's recent notice that he will be facing an LDS disciplinary council for apostasy on Wednesday evening June 3, 2015 at 7:30p.m. at the stake center at 2745 Eastern Ave. Sacramento, CA 95821.   Interestingly, Rock has been told by his church leaders to stop blogging at his blog (Pure Mormonism), but these same leaders have acknowledged that they have not spent much time reading his writings, have been instructed by an LDS area authority to hold a disciplinary council on Rock, but have been unwilling to tell Rock which of his teachings or statements are problematic.
