Episode 14 Suzanne 'Suzy' Lyall The 1998 disappearance of Suzanne Lyall, who was known to many as Suzy, is one of the better-known missing persons cases. Suzy was a studious and industrious student at SUNY-Albany who was abducted after taking a bus back to campus from work on the night of March 2nd. No evidence of Suzy was ever found again – except for the strange appearance of her work ID in a parking lot, and someone using her ATM card to withdraw $20. Suzy's boyfriend was a prime suspect in her disappearance – but many have their doubts about his involvement. Another theory – that a mysterious serial killer was responsible for Suzy's disappearance – has gained more traction in recent years. Did Israel Keyes abduct Suzy Lyall? Police confirmed this week that a body pulled from the Mohawk River at the end of February was Samantha Humphrey, a teen who had been missing for three months. Her case dominated headlines since the end of November. This week marks 25 years since 19-year-old Suzanne Lyall disappeared from the University at Albany campus. Her mother is now publishing a book of her daughter's poems. Jaliek Rainwalker was only 12 years old when he vanished from Washington County more than 15 years ago. The troubled child's case was ruled a probable homicide. On this episode of “The Eagle,” we'll discuss these three high-profile cases of missing children in the Capital Region.

Suzanne Lyall was your average college student - studying, holding down two jobs, and navigating her dating life. After she got off the bus back to her campus one winter night, she was never seen again - and, what's more, little physical evidence has helped narrow the possibilities in the days, months, and decades since. On today's episode, we tackle this cold case, which remains an ongoing investigation. What happened to Suzanne Lyall? Available wherever you stream podcasts! In this episode I talk to former Forensic Psychologist Kate about a case that has captivated me for a very long time...it's sort of a hometown case for Kate, in that she went to University in upstate NY, so she knows lots of details. Suzanne Lyall would disappear in the infancy of the internet age on March 2, 1998. Suzanne was very gifted with computers from a young age and there will be multiple threads that tie in to the burgeoning technology of the day and her boyfriend at the time Richard Condon. Was this someone close to Suzie? or was this an opportunistic stranger abduction? Suzanne Gloria Lyall lived in Saratoga Springs and graduated from high school with honors. She had a love for computers and enrolled in SUNY Albany to further her studies. One day, after work, when walking from the campus bus stop to her dorm she suddenly vanished. In just 2 weeks the police are out of suspects and the case goes cold. To this day the question remains, how could a 19 year old girl vanish from a campus without a trace? Then we cover the case of Paige Birgfeld, a 34 year old mother with a loving boyfriend and jealous ex husband. When she didn't return home one night, immediately her family knew something was wrong. Foul play was suspected after her belongings were found on the side of the highway. But who would harm her? Her loyal boyfriend? The crazy ex husband? Or was is someone from Paige's secret second life....NOTE: If you have any information concerning Suzanne Lyall, please contact your local FBI office or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate - or Submit an anonymous Tip online Sources:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_Suzanne_Lyall https://medium.com/@jennbaxter_69070/the-mysterious-disappearance-of-suzanne-lyall-223ce0980923 https://charleyproject.org/case/suzanne-gloria-lyall https://www.websleuths.com/forums/threads/ny-suzanne-lyall-19-collins-circle-at-suny-albany-2-march-1998.4612/page-9 https://www.deaddrunkpodcast.com/episodes/0mhcc7e094u83jdk5ezp9y8ysbn81b 48 Hours Season 27 Episode 62 “The Secret Life of Paige Birgfeld”https://www.cbsnews.com/news/the-secret-life-of-paige-birgfeld/https://www.originol.com/the-secret-life-of-a-colorado-housewife-the-murder-of-paige-birgfeld/https://heavy.com/news/paige-birgfeld-murder/Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/badsign)

Suzanne Lyall was an extremely intelligent, thoughtful, and compassionate human being . Her interests in technology and talents for computer science were cut short by an unexplainable, untraceable vanishing in March of 1998. Amateur sleuths and professional investigators have spent the better part of almost twod ecades digging theoretical tunnels and holding magnifying glasses up to anything and everything that might shed that one decisive clue in the ultimate reasons behind Suzy Lyall's disappearance. As a hope to provide a more substantial reasoning built upon observable evidence and situational analysis, this is an examination of the disappearance of Suzanne Lyall and the proceeding mystery at Collins Circle. #coldcasedetective #suzannelyall #mystery hire me as your voice over artist on fiverr - https://www.fiverr.com/share/DwyLbA --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/atruecrimepodcast/message
I am so honored to share this important conversation with Retired New York State Police Senior Investigator Jim Horton. Jim and I first crossed paths professionally when he so generously lent his expertise on the podcast Upstate Unsolved, covering the life and disappearance of Suzanne Lyall. Jim was the lead investigator on Suzy’s case, and to this day remains dedicated to finding answers for her loved ones. The following conversation was recorded in September of 2020, and is one of the most honest conversations with a law enforcement officer you will ever hear. He dives into his background and what led him to be the person he is today. He shares stories from his time leading the Bureau of Criminal Investigations and his connection with serial killer Gary Evans. Music: Purple Planet FreePD

Katie leads the case as we cover the disappearance of Suzanne Lyall right here in Albany.
