Was the emergence of the first self-replicating organism a result of design or the blind forces of nature? Adam Rutherford is an atheist scientist whose new book "Creation: The Origin of Life" claims to show a naturalistic explanation for how life arose. Fazale (Fuz) Rana is a biochemist with Reasons To Believe (and a speaker at Unbelievable? The Conference 2013). He values scientific research into origins but believes that Rutherford's explanation is a dead-end. Design is still the best explanation. The first of two programmes dealing with cellular biology. In this one-on-one edition of the show, Justin Brierley speaks to New Testament Historian Bart Ehrman about his recent book "Did Jesus Exist?" which argues for the historical fact of Jesus of Nazareth. Ehrman, whose books are more usually at odds with evangelicals, was this time attacked by atheist proponents of "mythicism" - the view that Jesus never existed. He responds to the criticisms, including mythicists Bob Price and Richard Carrier and answers questions sent in by Unbelievable? listeners. Recorded at Imperial College London. Christian astrophysicist Hugh Ross of Reasons To Believe debates atheist biologist Lewis Wolpert. Ross brings evidence for God from Big Bang cosmology, explaining why scientific advance provides a testable model of Biblical Creation. Last week to book for Unbelievable? The Conference! http://www.premier.org.uk/reasons David Instone-Brewer is a New Testament Scholar at Tyndale House, Cambridge. He returns to talk about his new book "The Jesus Scandals" and some of the reasons why he believes Jesus' theology doesn't conform to a Calvinist view of God's sovereignty. Does the Parable of the Great Feast contradict the idea of an "elect", did Jesus in some sense believe in "luck", are disasters ordained by God?
