What happens when a pastor uproots his life, late in his career, to embrace a new community and culture? In this episode of CITN, Rob speaks with Terry Sanderson about his ministry journey from St. Louis to Toronto and how his community navigated the challenges of rapid church growth in a few years. They also discuss the church's commitment to intercultural ministry, community outreach, and evangelism with Alpha. Terry is the Lead Pastor of Bayview Glen Church in Thornhill, ON. The CITN crew also discuss the work of the late, Hal Lindsey and the impact his work had on eschatological views in the church - and whether or not we need more sermons about the end times. Today we delve into the contentious debate surrounding the role of secularism in Western civilization and its relationship with Christianity. A growing chorus of new atheist writers heralds the advent of an enlightened era of secular rationalism, purporting to liberate society from what they perceive as the shackles of outdated Christian influence. However, according to David Bentley Hart, acclaimed author of "Atheist Delusions: The Christian Revolution and its Fashionable Enemies," such claims amount to nothing more than an "atheist delusion." His book, which garnered the prestigious Michael Ramsey Prize for theological writing in 2011, challenges the narrative of secular triumphalism by revisiting the historical contributions of Christianity. On the opposing side, Terry Sanderson former President of the UK's National Secular Society contends that contemporary society thrives under an increasingly secular framework, asserting that the freedoms and values we cherish are not contingent upon a Christian foundation. In this engaging dialogue, we see a clash of perspectives as David argues that secular perspectives are rooted in a misguided myth of secular "progress." By examining the intertwined histories of Christianity and secularism, David presents a compelling case that challenges prevailing notions of societal evolution. Today's episode deals with childhood trauma in schools, centered around the recent events in Nashville, TN. Host Collier Landry shares what it was like at his school the day he found out about the murder of his mother. Childhood trauma can have severe impacts on mental health, including anxiety, depression, and PTSD. It's crucial to seek help from a mental health professional to process and cope with trauma. Collier's story sheds light on the importance of having a support system and seeking help to overcome childhood trauma, mental health, support system, coping with trauma, PTSD. Nashville Events: On Monday, March 27, 2023, a shooter opened fire at The Covenant School, a private Christian school in Nashville, killing six people. The shooter, identified as 28-year-old Audrey Hale, was a former student at the school and arrived at the scene at around 9:53 a.m. armed with two "assault-style" weapons and a handgun. The Nashville police response to the shooting has come under scrutiny following a similar incident in Uvalde, Texas, where law enforcement took 70 minutes to storm a classroom after a shooting. However, in Nashville, the police response time was approximately eight minutes, and the shooter was taken down within four minutes of the police arriving on the scene. The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, and the families of the victims are receiving support from the community. The incident has reignited the debate over gun control and school safety in the United States. Additional talking points in today's episode. • #Gwynnocent Gwyneth Paltrow was being sued by Terry Sanderson, a retired optometrist, for causing him severe injuries during a skiing incident in 2016, but she has since won the judgment. Paltrow was awarded one dollar plus attorney's fees in the case.. Paltrow counter-sued, claiming Sanderson's fault. There is speculation as to why Sanderson waited three years to file. • The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) officially ruled Steven Smith's case a homicide and reopened the investigation. Smith died on July 8, 2015, in a pedestrian vs. motor vehicle accident. A rape kit was done on Smith's body hours after the discovery, but it was never analyzed, and there is no confirmation of where the kit is or why it was ordered. • There has been public discussion about the possible connection between Bryan Kohberger's sisters losing their jobs and their brother's involvement in a criminal case. A recent Vanity Fair article outlined the fever pitch of conjecture surrounding the Idaho Four case. This raises the question of whether the families of criminals are victims as well. Buster Murdaugh's girlfriend threatened to sue media and online sleuths for following her around and pretending to be media. • There is an update in the case of Michael Joseph Vaughan, who went missing in Fruitland, Idaho, in 2021. Sarah Wondra, a neighbor of the Vaughans, has been found competent to face her charges and has three additional felony charges filed against her. LE claims that these charges are unrelated to Michael. Sarah has two hearings scheduled in April. Ten years on from the horse meat crisis, a new scandal has engulfed almost the entire food retail sector. Huge quantities of foreign pork - sometimes tens of thousands of tonnes a week - has been passed off, fraudulently as British. One meat processor - who can't be named for legal reasons - has been accused by former employees of 'washing' hams that are visibly rotten, or mixing bad meat with fresh produce. They even allege paperwork - which would pick up infections like bacteria or E.coli - was being falsified. We talk to the Farmers Weekly journalist who broke the story Abi Kay. And we dip into the 'vagina-scented' ski slopes of Utah to visit the trial of the century - Gwyneth Paltrow v Terry Sanderson. At the time of publication, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) had not provided us with a comment after we approached them. You can watch our episodes in full at https://global-player.onelink.me/Br0x/VideosThe News Agents is a Global Player Original and a Persephonica Production.[Two hours after the episode was published, the FSA provided us with this statement:“We are continuing our criminal investigation into how a meat supplier allegedly provided products labelled as British when they were in fact sourced from other countries. This is a live investigation which means we are looking into all new lines of inquiry with the relevant local authorities, including investigating potential food hygiene breaches. This is alongside the work we are doing to investigate food fraud. Based on the investigation to date, there is no indication that food is unsafe or there is an increased risk to consumers. Criminal investigations take time and need to be done with due process and fairness. The FSA will work tirelessly on behalf of consumers to ensure that this criminal investigation is done to the highest possible standards. I do want to emphasise at a time when cost pressures and other challenges mean the risks of food fraud might be increasing, it is vital everyone involved in the food chain works to ensure that food is safe and what it says it is.” Emily Miles, Chief Executive of the Food Standards Agency]

“Our children deserve better,” was the reaction from First Lady Jill Biden and countless others to news of a mass shooting at a private Christian elementary school in Nashville. Three children and three adults are now dead. And so is the shooter, who according to authorities was a 28-year-old woman and a former student. And, Gwyneth Paltrow had her say. Now it's the retired optometrist's turn. Terry Sanderson took the stand today recounting his version of the ski collision at the center of competing lawsuits. And no surprise, he completely contradicts what Ms. Paltrow said. Plus, he's starred in Creed 3 and the latest Marvel movie. However, over the weekend actor Jonathan Majors was charged with assault, after a 30-year-old woman told cops he attacked her. As Les Trent reports, a lawyer for Majors says he's “innocent,” that he “did not assault” the woman and claims that the woman had recanted her accusation and that video evidence and witnesses support his account. And, it's the moment a TV meteorologist realizes the killer storm he's been tracking is barreling down on a populated area. And all he can do while on the air is pray that God will protect them. People in the small Mississippi town say the urgency in his voice helped saved lives.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In this week's Quick Bits I cover the Paltrow Ski Crash Trial that started on Tuesday and has been ongoing for the rest of the week. The trial is about a collision that occurred while Gwyneth Paltrow was skiing that allegedly caused injuries to another skier named Terry Sanderson. The parties must establish whether Paltrow caused the collision and whether Sanderson suffered damages. The jury has to decide whether Paltrow is liable for Sanderson's injuries and, if so, what damages should be awarded. During opening statements, the plaintiff's attorney argued that Paltrow hit Sanderson from behind and caused him injuries, while the defense attorney argued that Sanderson caused the collision by skiing into Paltrow. The first witnesses included Sanderson's ski buddy and the woman he was dating during the accident. Several of Sanderson's doctors testified that he has post-concussive syndrome that will continue to impact him and that Paltrow caused his injuries. Sanderson's family members also testified that he has changed since the accident. Paltrow herself testified that Sanderson skied between her skis, his body was against her back, and they fell to the side, causing her to fall on him.Coverage Links!
