In this epsiode, Lukie and Dakota debate the outcome and 'low blow' that occurred during Oleksandr Usyk's win over Daniel Dubois. Despite a ninth-round knockout of Dubois, Usyk was extensively critiqued as he went down from a low blow in round five that some think was fair. We debate this and talk about the broadcast's impact on these things. Also, Anthony Yigit went to the internet to say he didn't get adequate medical career, and there were no prelims for this fight card. Top Rank's Tulsa card saw Jared Anderson return to form with a KO. What did we learn, if anything? Efe Ajagba might be the most underrated fighter in the sport as he got a DQ win over Zhan Kossobutskiy.Other notable undercard results, Abdullah Mason didn't get a stoppage, Nico Ali Walsh lost, and the card had a hum-dinger as Charly Suarez opened the card in an entertaining fashion against Yohan Vasquez. Also, Oscar Collazo, a mini-flyweight world champion signed to Golden Boy Promotions won, and looks to be a pillar of the company's future. Two upsets on Overtime Boxing as Vladimir Hernandez outworked Lorenzo Simpson, and Czarina McCoy lost a decision based on her opponent getting a knockdown that should've been ruled a slip. This Week.We have one card, and it takes place on ESPN+ in the U.S., and something else in the U.K.The big fight is Liam Smith versus Chris Eubank Jr. in a rematchAlso on the card, Adam Azim, a junior welterweight, Frazer Clarke vs. Dave Allen Mikaela Mayer vs. Silvia Bortot in Mayer's debut at 140 lbs., and Lauren Price.News. Billions of people are using chat apps. Can brand owners and broadcasters make themselves part of these private conversations? And should they? The BBC World Service, the Weather Company USA and youth-led creative network Livity have been exploring ways to engage with these hard-to-reach audiences. This podcast explores how organisations are using short animated images such as gifs as well as chatbots - computer programmes which simulate conversations with humans - to become part of the conversation in private spaces. Communications on these text, email or instant messaging apps is referred to as 'dark social' because, unlike a Facebook share or a retweet, it's harder for brands and broadcasters to see what's going on ‘in the dark'. In this podcast you'll learn: • how big-name brands are using ‘dark social' to promote themselves • what the Weather Channel learnt from audience interactions with its chatbot • about the insight the BBC World Service gained from its first attempt to deliver original journalism via a chat app This podcast is presented by Charles Miller, editor of the BBC Academy blog. He's joined by BBC World Service assistant editor Vladimir Hernandez, series-producer of Young, Angry and Connected, a story of political activism in Africa and the BBC's first WhatsApp journalism project. Also on the panel are Alan Bryant, a planner and strategist at Livity, which helps organisations reach young people, and Domenic Venuto, general manager of consumer products at the Weather Company in the US. The images coming out of Venezuela show a country in turmoil. The economy is failing, violent protests on the streets have left nearly 60 dead, and figures recently released show that child mortality has also increased in a country that was once the wealthiest in the region. Vladimir Hernandez returns home to oil-rich Venezuela, which is struggling to feed its own people in the midst of a spiralling economic crisis.
Oil-rich Venezuela is struggling to feed its own people as a result of a spiralling economic and political crisis which has brought the country to its knees. Vladimir Hernandez returns to his home country where thousands queue for many hours in order to buy even the most basic of food stuffs. Malnutrition and starvation, unthinkable only a few years ago, are becoming a reality for some communities and particularly the poor.
Vladimir Hernandez meets the Mexican Catholic priests who believe the country's drug wars mean it's in the grip of the devil - and who are fighting it through exorcism.
Vladimir Hernandez follows the Mexican priests who believe they can fight the evil of drug trafficking through the ancient Catholic practice of exorcism. It is estimated that 60,000 people have died in Mexico in the "drug wars" linked to the narco-traffickers, who are among the most vicious criminals in the world. To some Catholic priests and believers, this is clear evidence that the Devil has taken hold among much of the population. They also point to the popularity of cults like that of "Santa Muerte", the saint of death, who is a figure of popular veneration among some of the narco-gangs. The priests are responding by practicing exorcisms, both in private and public, as they seek to expunge this evil. Vladimir watches dramatic individual and mass exorcisms, hears from those who have been through the rite and talks to critics and supporters of the practice. Producers: Keith Morris and Mark Savage.
