We are ready for a classic, British "grudge match" that is over two years in the making, as host T.J. Rives and insider Dan Rafael return on the "Big Fight Weekend Preview Podcast!"They start with a preview of Saturday's Turki Alahiikh/DAZN card in LondonRivals Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr., finally meet after an over two year delay due to Benn failing a PED test prior to their 2022 bout. Will we see fireworks like the elder Eubank battling the elder Benn in the early 1990s?? The guys discuss. It's a solid undercard with veteran Liam Smith meeting unbeaten but untested Aaron McKenna in a middleweight showdown. Also, Anthony Yarde takes on Lyndon Arthur in their third fight, as the light heavyweights have split their two meetings. The winner stays relevant in the contender picture, too.Alos, former WBO cruiser weight champ Chris Billam-Smith is back on this show. Then, some NewsDan is reporting on Tank Davis-Lamont Roach 2, which was penciled in for June 21 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas will still take place but will move into July or August. Also, Dan has learned that Top Rank and PBC have an agreement to put on WBC junior lightweight titlist O'Shaquie Foster defending against WBC featherweight titlist Steven Fulton that isn't signed yet, but there's a plan to have it as the Tank-Roach 2 co-feature assuming it gets finalized. The IBF officially ordered the Daniel Dubois heavyweight mandatory vs. Derek Chisora. But, Dubois can get out of for the next fight if the Oleksandr Usyk unification is finalized before the purse bid is ordered. Comically, the WBA outlined its welterweight title situation – approved (as fully expected) Ryan Garcia-Rolando Romero for the vacant “regular” title on May 2. Jaron Ennis, now the “super” champion, ordered to fight mandatory Shakhram Giyasov next. WBA said Ennis-Giyasov winner will be mandated to face the Garcia-Romero winner (but highly unlikely next since it's going to be Garcia-Devin Haney II in the fall if they win May 2). Finally, Dan is also reporting that Top Rank and Ohashi Promotions are discussions WBO welterweight titlist Brian Norman vs. Japanese contender Jin Sasaki in Japan or might the Ennis unification still happen?Hear it all on the "Big Fight Weekend Preview Podcast" and make sure to follow/subscribe on Apple/ Spreaker/Spotify.And, SEE our nostalgia fights for this weekend on the Big Fight Weekend Youtube page, as well!

Two years ago, boxing was on the ropes. Fans were fed up, and rival promoters were playing the blame game, as egos, finances and broadcaster commitments got in the way. Now, it's all changed, largely thanks to investment from Saudi Arabia. We head to the boxing ring to look at the revival of this global sport – and find out whether the Kingdom's increasing involvement in sport is being universally welcomed. If you would like to get in touch with the show, please email: businessdaily@bbc.co.ukPresented and produced by Matt Lines(Image: Britain's Tyson Fury (red) and Ukraine's Oleksandr Usyk (blue) compete during their heavyweight world championship rematch at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh on December 22, 2024. World heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk is plotting his next move, with Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker both seemingly in the running to face the king. The chasing pack watch with interest, knowing their own futures might be at the mercy of Usyk's choice. Derek Chisora, the IBF's leading contender, is among them. But does the ageing warhorse really deserve a shot and, furthermore, is Chisora challenging Dubois or Usyk something the sport really needs? There's plenty of action to digest as Mikaela Mayer and William Zepeda marched on and the journey of Pat Brown began. In This Week, we go back to 1990 and a fight that birthed one of the most underrated fighters of the decade, Terrible Terry Norris. For regular weekly bonus content, please consider becoming a Patreon or Subscriber. ‘Boxing has a perverse way of turning every significant bout I see into something deeply personal. It is as crooked and as destructive as it is magnificent and transformative. While watching boxers risk their lives, I fall for the gory drama once more…' A passage from The Last Bell: Life, Death and Boxing, by the renowned sportswriter, Donald McRae, who joins us today. Donald is the author of five boxing books, each one more magnificent than the last, but his latest one is set to be the final chapter in a 50-year affair with the sport. I didn't just say ‘love' there, because sometimes it's so much more complicated than that, but it's certainly a consuming passion. There are still compelling characters within the sport, Rocky stories everywhere when you go looking for them, but it's also a business beset by problems – from doping to gangsterism, the free press being replaced with yes-men with cameras and the migration from broadcast networks to subscription-only digital stations. We're also grappling with a future where influencers, on one side, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on the other, hold sway. I've no doubt listeners to this show will be more than familiar with the book before this one, In Sunshine or In Shadow, the surreal story of how boxing gave people hope during the darkest days of the Troubles. And we're delighted to present a conversation with Donald that touches on the fighters who inspired him after a sustained period of grief, covering Oleksandr Usyk, Tyson Fury, Katie Taylor, Isaac Chamberlain and the rise of Andy Lee as a boxing trainer along with covering the growing Saudi influence and the human rights stories adjacent, MTK, doping and influencer boxing. Joseph Parker's next fight is still up in the air. The Kiwi boxer was set to challenge Daniel Dubois for the IBF Heavyweight belt, before pulling out last-minute on medical advice. Since then, Parker has called out Oleksandr Usyk, but Dubois may be first in line for that fight. Parker told Mike Hosking that there's a lot of different ways the timeline could play out. He says he has no idea what's happening next, and for now, is just focused on training, spending time with family, and finding a good balance in life. Manager David Higgins has speculated on the timing of Joseph Parker's chance to fight unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. The World Boxing Organisation has ordered Usyk to take a mandatory defence of his WBO title against Parker, which would also likely put his remaining alphabet soup of belts on the line. The news came hours after reports of Usyk's camp negotiating for an undisputed bout with IBF champion Daniel Dubois, who allegedly pulled out of last month's fight with Parker due to illness. Higgins told Mike Hosking that at the end of the day, who Usyk fights will be up to him. But he says if he chooses to ignore the order by the WBO, he'll be stripped of his title.
