The eighth round particularly captivated us, featuring a knockdown followed by a dramatic momentum shift that exemplifies why heavyweight boxing at its most raw remains uniquely thrilling. The super welterweight division gives us something to discuss as Sebastian Fundora dominates Tim Zuu in their rematch, while we also touch on Raymond Ford's creative Tom and Jerry-themed boxing attire and ESPN KO's emergence following the conclusion of their Top Rank partnership.Looking ahead to September's superfight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford, we examine why this clash between pound-for-pound elites represents a must-watch moment for both hardcore and casual boxing fans. Moses Itauma surely ended the career of war-torn Dillian Whyte with a savage first round KO. Itauma was faultless, from his movement to the shot selection and exquisite execution. The potential is seemingly limitless but, before we get too carried away and anoint Itauma as the greatest heavyweight in history, let's apply some context. And when we do that, the truth remains that Itauma is yet to defeat a live contender. With that in mind, surely talk of him challenging Oleksandr Usyk is wildly premature. Or is it? We examine Daniel Dubois' habit of changing trainers when the going gets tough and, in This Week, we head back in time for an early indicator of what was to come in the career of Terence Crawford. Johnny Nelson and Gary Logan are joined by this week's special guests Duke McKenzie and rising heavyweight prospect Leo Atang.McKenzie reflects on his incredible career, which saw him win world titles at flyweight, bantamweight and super bantamweight as he became a three-weight world champion.Atang discusses comparisons that have been made with former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and whether he could fight Moses Itauma in the future. The panel preview Itauma's fight against Dillian Whyte this weekend and question if he could be the one to dethrone undisputed king Oleksandr Usyk. They also react to the news that Chris Eubank Jr's rematch with Conor Benn has been confirmed and debate who will win this time around.
Reports persist that Anthony Joshua will end his hiatus by feasting on Jake Paul. This is a ridiculous idea, surely? Though probably not as silly as the party that was staged for Daniel Dubois mere hours before he stepped in the ring to take on the formidable Oleksandr Usyk. Nor is it as troubling as plans to match Ike Ibeabuchi and Danny Williams, both 52, in what is sure to be a grisly spectacle… should it happen, of course. We also reflect on Regis Prograis' latest outing before ending on a high: A peak Hector Camacho trouncing the excellent Jose Luis Ramirez triggers stories aplenty about one of the most colourful characters of 1980's boxing. In this show, Lukie and Dakota talk about a loaded week of boxing. We start with Manny Pacquiao-Mario Barrios. What do we think? Should it happen again? Then, Sebastian Fundora stopped Tim Tszyu. We get into a debate that might make historians mad. We think Usyk ranks amongst the greats like Ali and Louis? Do you? This weekend, he stopped Daniel Dubois again.Dakota will sum up the undercard. Finally, we recap Jesse "Bam" Rodriguez's win over Phumelele Cafu. Rodriguez is becoming one of the best fighters in the sport. Our thoughts. Plus, Diego Pacheco defeats Trevor McCumby. Parker is being touted as a potential opponent for heavyweight boxing's undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk - a fight that Parker's manager believes would be a test for the New Zealander, but one he would be up for. Sports reporter Felicity Reid spoke to Melissa Chan-Green.
Who doesn't love a party? Definitely not boxing fans. They had done it before and it worked, but they confused luck with destiny and paid a heavy price. Whatever we say about partygate, there wasn't a version of Daniel Dubois that would have beaten Oleksandr Usyk.
Ade Oladipo and Gareth A Davies pick the bones out of Saturday night's action at Wembley where Oleksandr Usyk dismantled Daniel Dubois to become a two time undisputed heavyweight World Champion! We discuss where Usyk sits amongst the all time greats and if anyone in the division is capable of beating him before he calls time on his careerAs for Daniel Dubois, we ask why he was so short of his best and if reports of a party on the day of the fight could have been a factor in his poor performance.Away from the heavyweights we hear from Josh Taylor who tells us why he has been forced to retire from the sport age 34 and we discuss an impressive return to the ring for Manny Pacquiao! Send us a textWhen boxing historians look back at this era, they'll wonder why we didn't appreciate what we had. That's the passionate sentiment driving this episode as we break down a weekend that showcased both the brilliance and frustration of modern boxing.Oleksandr Usyk's masterful performance against Daniel Dubois highlights why he's not just the undisputed heavyweight champion, but one of boxing's pound-for-pound kings. We analyze how Dubois failed to implement the body attack that might have given him a chance, and how Usyk's combination of movement, precision, and killer instinct when his opponent was hurt proves why he's special at any age.Meanwhile, Jesse "Bam" Rodriguez delivered another dazzling performance that leaves us asking: why isn't this technical wizard a household name? With footwork reminiscent of Lomachenko but an aggressive style all his own, Bam represents everything great about boxing's current talent pool yet remains criminally undermarketed. The conversation takes a critical turn when examining Manny Pacquiao's return against Mario Barrios. What does it say about today's champions when a 46-year-old legend can fight to a draw against a current belt holder? We don't hold back in our assessment of what this means for Barrios' future and the welterweight division. From Sebastian Fundora's thrilling stoppage of Tim Tszyu to our preview of Bruce "Shu Shu" Carrington's upcoming interim title fight, this episode captures the full spectrum of emotions that only boxing can deliver.
