Michael has been in a variety of 12 Step fellowships over the years. His primary fellowship is AA, even though he is not an alcoholic-He will explain. Currently, he is most active in SLAA and CODA.  Michael's favorite topic to talk on is Emotional Sobriety but in this meeting he will talk about his take on the 12 Step Programs and some thoughts on changes that could happen.  He has been practicing as a licensed psychotherapist and life coach for the past 20 years. Debi S - 12th Step - Meeting 326

Debi's 1st meeting was in 1981. Her 1st sober date was in 1987. Her current and permanent sober date is 1/31/94. After a long history of trouble at home, school, and the law, from a very young age, including rehab, detox, jail, DUI, psych ward, diagnoses, medication, etc. Debi finally surrendered. She was dry 3.5 years for the 2nd time and ready to suicide. She reached out for help with more humility and desperation than she'd ever before been able to muster and allowed a recovered member to take her through the Big Book & the Steps. According to Peter Sellers: “It all started because Spike Milligan and I once said we wanted to experiment in visual humour. We got as many friends together as we could and went and found a field. That was all we had – friends, a field, a roll of film.”What resulted was 'The Running, Jumping & Standing Still Film' (1959), directed by the up-and-coming Richard Lester, a friend and collaborator of Sellers and Milligan. The short film soon became a word-of-mouth hit and was even nominated for an Oscar. It helped pave the way for Lester to work with the Beatles several years later and Spike Milligan claimed that it was one of the very few true visual representations of Peter Sellers' sense of humour. Although accounts vary it has become accepted that the total budget for the film was £70 (including the rent of a field) and the entire cast was made up of - as Sellers says - friends. So we see Graham Stark, Leo McKern, David Lodge, Mario Fabrizi, Bruce Lacey and Johnny Vyvyan, as well as the two Goons themselves. This week film academic Dr Adrian Smith joins Tyler to talk about this highly influential 11 minutes of mayhem.

Liza has been qualified for and in & out of a host of 12-step rooms throughouther entire life, beginning at 8 years old... Every manner of program opportunity relative to familial, chemical, physical, mental, relational, emotional, behavioral, medical, traumatic, legal, experiential... Liza hasn't had (or wanted) an alcoholic beverage since Dec. 31, 1993. Her highest weight was 387 pounds. Liza has been entirely freed from all manner of disordered eating and food matters since inspired Ketogenic eating as a way of life since September 8, 2018, easily maintaining a stable weight of 130 pounds. The simplest truth and reality is that she is quite literally alive today because she finally found everything she had ever been looking for (and so much more) when she discovered recorded shares and real live people reading and living by everything described in that book (Big Book of AA) that sat dusty and resented on her shelves all of these years, and making the decision to join them in doing the same. Liza has been in more 12 Step fellowships than can be reasonably named here and is very active in service in her fellowships.  Today she speaks to us on formulas, dictionaries, and mind movies.Reco12 is all about exploring the common threads of addiction and sharing tools and hope from those on a similar path. STANDING STILL WHILE  MOUNTING - MEREDITH HODGES - CINDY K ROBERTS It starts with good nutrition and being fed on schedule to reduce anxiety.Ground training is essential using a logical approach.Begin mounting in the round pen first - using a mounting block.Desensitize your mule with gentle strokes to the body to learn his sensitive areas. Start with a mounting block to eliminate pulling on the saddle.Have an assistant work with you for safety reasons. Sit quietly for a minute before walking on after mounting.Train your mule to understand the command "WHOA."Train your mule to understand the command "STAND" when you are ready to mount him. Use the reward system to let him know he is doing good. Balance your weight when stepping up into the saddle and stepping down.English riders - remove both feet from stirrups when dismounting.Western riders position your foot in the left stirrup to eliminate getting hung up. Ride in a saddle that is comfortable for your mule and a proper fit for you the rider. Jay Westbrook has been sober since December 2nd, 1988.  He spent most of that time in Los Angeles, but moved to Tupelo Mississippi two years ago. He's been a hospice nurse and Grief + Loss Counselor for over three decades. In week two of "Unlikely Heroes", Pastor Samson preaches from Joshua 10, the story of the sun standing still, to illustrate a deeper message. Despite Gibeon's deceptive treaty with Israel, when surrounding kingdoms attacked them, Joshua honored the covenant and defended them. This act, born out of a previous misstep, demonstrated obedience to God. The sermon emphasizes that our mistakes and challenges can be used by God to elevate our faith and bring about victory. Just as Joshua found victory in obeying God after a misstep, we too can find triumph when we align with God's ways, even in our biggest battles. However, the greatest miracle is not the sun standing still but Jesus coming down for us, and through faith-filled prayers, we can find salvation and victory. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Philippians-10 The Cure for Anger and Anxiety – Daily Wisdom Putnam Church Message – 02/11/2023 Joy in Sharing – The Cure for Anger and Anxiety Philippians 4:1-9 Last week, we focused on Standing Firm without Standing Still in a message titled Hanging Tough and Looking Up. Today, we begin the last section of Philippians, Joy in Resting, and specifically focus on how we often fight for peace /when we have already been given The Cure for Anger and Anxiety. Today's scripture passage is Philippians 4:1-9 on page 1829, in your Pew Bibles. 1 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends! 2 I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. 3 Yes, and I ask you, my true companion, help these women since they have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in the book of life. Final Exhortations 4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.   In Philippians 4, Paul puts the finishing touches on his symphonic “Ode to Joy” with a soaring, moving, inspiring conclusion. Some of the most quoted, best-loved passages of Scripture are found in Philippians 4—as are a few obscure lines. We also get a sneak peek into the lives of some Philippian Christians and their real-life conflict. In this final chapter, Paul argues that there is joy in resting. He includes perhaps the finest passage on contentment in all the Scriptures, and this contentment is the essence of joyful living amid a restless world. Whether the cause of our unrest is disunity (4:1–3), anxiety (4:4–7), lack of peace (4:8–9), discontent (4:10–13), or need (4:14–19), Paul encourages believers to find Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered joy in resting in God, and God alone. “Stand firm in the Lord!” (Stay True to the Lord NLT) With this command, Paul begins to wrap up his letter to the Philippians. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Philippians-9 Hanging Tough and Looking Up – Daily Wisdom Putnam Church Message – 02/04/2023 Joy in Sharing – Hanging Tough and Looking Up – Philippians 3:12-21 Last week, our focus was a comparison message titled Human Rubbish vs. Divine Righteousness. We learned that all human efforts to live a life pleasing to God apart from Christ are pointless and fruitless. Today, we focus on Standing Firm without Standing Still in a message titled Hanging Tough and Looking Up. Today's scripture passage is Philippians 3:12-21 on page 1829, in your Pew Bibles. 12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. 15 All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. 16 Only let us live up to what we have already attained. 17 Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do. 18 For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. In a predominantly humanistic society like ours, it's not uncommon to hear the glories of humanity exalted in exaggerated terms. Our “open-minded” media parades before our eyes immoral living as a virtue. They promise social progress through secular and even anti-Christian means. From politics to education, from spirituality to ethics, our sophisticated, twenty-first-century world functions on the presupposition that the only thing standing in the way is backward-thinking Neanderthals who can't pull their noses out of an ancient, outdated book like the Bible. Yet God has chosen to leave believers on this earth, not to retreat from its pain and suffering, but to engage it—up close and personal. This calling requires us to strap in for a bumpy ride, to hang tough for the long haul. On this rough road between Christ's first and second comings, we must keep our heads up, our eyes forward, and our hearts heavenward. The Christian life is a marathon—not through the level, paved streets of a clean and friendly city, but across rocky, strenuous, dangerous terrain filled with pitfalls and predators. It's comforting to know that we're not the first Christians to make this journey through a wicked, hostile world. In many ways, the world is much better...
