While he's perhaps best known for his work as a singer and drummer with his siblings' band The Cowsill, his career is far more varied than that. He spent years as a drummer and vocalist for The Beach Boys touring band, featuring original Beach Boy Mike Love and longtime member Bruce Johnston. He's also performed and recorded with Jan and Dean, Tommy Tutone, and Dwight Twilley. Most recently, he's been touring as a vocalist with power pop legends The Smithereens and has been releasing new studio recordings with his wife Vicki Peterson of the Bangles. A musical force since the 1960s, The Yardbirds are back on the road keeping alive the enduring legacy of one of rock's most influential bands while expanding their music into new horizons. The current line-up features McCarty on drums, Godfrey Townsend on guitar, John Idan on guitar and vocals, Kenny Aaronson on bass, and Myke Scavone on vocals and blues harp.
