And welcome to the program on your Wednesday afternoon. Very nice day outside today, but we start out with some bad news. There was a shooting, a mass shooting at a, in Minneapolis at the Annunciation Catholic Church and School right there in Minneapolis. Police say that two children are dead. 17 people were injured, including 14 children. The gunman, took his life. That's a key thing. Took his life inside the church. Minneapolis police officer Brian O'Hara told reporters that the children who were killed as they were killed as they sat in pews were age eight and 10. Two of the 14 children injured are in critical condition. He said the coward who fired these shots ultimately took his own life in the rear of the church. Now there is video online of this person that was the shooter, born Robert, changed his name to Robin, the female spelling of that, and it's, left behind a video manifesto on one of the weapons that the shooter had. It said, kill Donald Trump. Several other things were written on there. He appeared to have a target with the face of Jesus at the head of it. Robin Westman, like I said, who posted a manifesto on social media just a little while ago, including a video showing the words kill Donald Trump written on a firearm. Had other things written on some of the magazines and the firearms that were in his possession. But this was another folks, let me tell you something. These people over on the left, they're always talking about, we all we gotta stop the right wing violence. We gotta take a real hard, serious look at what's going on with some of this left wing violence. And I'll just give you I'll give you a couple of great examples here. So we got the Minnesota church shooter, trans, Republican party firebombing, gender fluid, Nashville shooter, trans, Colorado test Tesla arsonist, trans, Colorado Springs shooter, nonbinary. Aberdeen shooter, trans. Denver school shooter, trans. Iowa school shooter, trans slash gender fluid. AMC stabber, trans. Anybody else starting to see a pattern here? Because I certainly am because it's glaring. When we normalize mental illness, this is what happens. And, automatically, the Democrats came out, and they started I mean, even even before we knew anything about this, even before that we we saw the the video manifesto, even before we knew the shooter's name, even before we knew the the name of the victims, Chuck Schumer is coming out talking about gun control. Then you've got Amy Klobuchar. She's out there blaming you. Think about guns and all the work we've done to ban these, automatic rifles and Not automatic. Was not automatic. Not automatic. There's a huge difference between automatic and semiautomatic. To, do something when it comes to, the background checks and everything, and we keep getting thwarted. We were able to pass a limited measure on a bipartisan base. Okay. Background checks would not have stopped this. Bag this person, according to police, had minimal interactions with the police. I'm good. What's up, man? Well, I just wanted to chime in on this. I think, you know, describing, you know, how this how these mass shootings are going, I think I've solved the problem as far as, you know, background checks go. Okay. Instead of doing an actual background check, let's just check their affiliation, what party they're with. And if they're Democrat, they don't get a gun. How about that? I would love to see that. That brought that might solve a lot of problems. You're right. Let's go to Wes in Greer. Wes, what do you think? I'd be all for that one, Charlie. Let me tell you. I this mass shooting stuff to me has gone on until when a plane crashes, Charlie, we put every single piece of it back together. Right. Okay? Because we wanna know what caused it. We don't want ...

H1 - Segment 2 - Wed Aug 27 2025 - Yesterday we got the news that Cracker Barrel has reversed course And welcome back to the program. Glad to have you along with us on this Wednesday afternoon. Let's see here. Alright. So, we'll talk about the school shooting, church shooting, coming up more in just a second. But yesterday, we got the news that Cracker Barrel had reversed course. Now this is what they they came in. They did all of this hullabaloo about changing, you know, the way they look and and changing the logo and all of that stuff. And you guys absolutely I mean, you lost your your heads about it. I don't mean that in a bad way. I mean that in a good way because rightfully you should have because this is this is one of, you know, a lot of people's favorite places. So they're going into they make this unbelievable marketing change, which cost them, like, 7 was it $700,000,000 that they were doing this whole renovation with? Well, you guys let your voice be heard. And then yesterday, they came along and they changed it back. They said, alright. We've heard you. Now first, they put out that ridiculous statement, which basically said, sorry, not sorry. But then I think the shareholders got to got to talking to the CEO, and they were like, okay. We'll go back to the old thing. But here's what really he was one of the bad things that really happened. They started people started looking at Cracker Barrel. Cracker Barrel used to be part of Americana, used to be a great place to go, nostalgia, all of that. You could go and get good food, and you could just you know? And it was a thing. It was just a thing, and everybody just assumed that that was a good thing. But when you start looking into Cracker Barrel and what they actually stand for as a corporation, Well, this is this is one of the worst thing that that could have happened to them because now people started looking into them, saying, hey. Let's check out Cracker Barrel a little bit more and see what's going and did you know they have a thing called porch to pride? You know, all the Cracker Barrels have that front porch. Well, they got a thing called porch to pride. Not only that, they're one of the biggest supporters of the Nashville pride parade and festivities. Saw a video last night of a a drag queen show sponsored by Cracker Barrel. So I a a lot of things a lot of times, things just aren't what they seem. So one of the questions I'm gonna have for you today, Charlie bay Charlie, I read that they basically got a billion dollars worth of free advertising on that stunt. Well, that might just offset what they spent on the remodel. Maybe. Because I know a lot of people out there just aren't going back. And when they find out more about Cracker Barrel and what they really stand for at a corporate level level, I think a lot of people are gonna say, you know what? I'm gonna go somewhere else. I'm gonna find something else. So my question for you today is now that they've decided to keep uncle Herschel leaning on the Cracker Barrel, not only on the road signs, not only on the menus, but also on the store sign itself, is all forgiven. Will you be patronizing them again, or have you learned out more about the corporate, culture of Cracker Barrel? As he Charlie said, I think it's racist. They call it cracker. I know it actually has to do with the barrel. That's the cracker barrel, barrel full of crackers. Charlie not going back, to they they should have let me know about it. There you go. So, Charlie, why does the left always say it's the gun? We'll get to that in just a second. But I do think people need to look more into Cracker Barrel, and especially somebody out there named Robbie Starbuck. Now Robbie Starbuck has been unbelievable at getting corporations to change their DEI, policies, their pride affiliations. Like I said, he's been very successful. He's gotten I mean, he's got a long hit list here. Tractor Supply Company, John Deere, Harley Davidson, Brown F ...

And welcome to the program on your Wednesday afternoon. So glad to have you. And we're just gonna jump in. Oh, by the way, Bill Ryan, the new, I guess, sheriff elect of Spartanburg County, so to speak, will be, on the program with us at 04:06 this afternoon. But right now, we're being joined by attorney general Alan Wilson. Attorney general, welcome to the program. Hope you're doing well. Hey, Charlie. It's great to be on your, show again. Thanks for having me back, sir. I appreciate. First, we're gonna talk to the attorney general, then we're gonna talk to the candidate for governor. Okay? Okay. Sounds good. I can hold on. Let me put that hat on. I got my AG hat on. Look at that. That's perfect. Now you sent out a, a press release the other day. You know, school has just started back all over the Upstate, and you have this, issue, on parental rights guide. Tell us a little bit about that and and what all it entails. Well, Charlie, with kids going back to school, it's important for parents to be reminded of what their rights are as it relates to the care, education, and rearing of their own children. And, a couple of things have happened in the recent weeks that have kinda prompted us to put this out, and I'll get to that momentarily. Okay. But, basically, parents need to be reminded that you have a right to be involved in the, the the raising of your children. This has been upheld by the United States Supreme Court. You have a right and the responsibility to be involved in your child's education. Any teacher, any school that does anything to undermine that is wrong and acting out of concert with the law. In fact, the general assembly even passed a parental involvement in their children's education act, which seeks to encourage the establishment and maintenance of parent friendly school settings. Parents have basic rights. You have the right to teach your child your own belief and value system. You have a right to believe. Any attempts by teachers or school districts to violate those beliefs, like requiring students or, to, you know, use preferred pronouns Right. Or forcing students to affirm pronouns or genders of other kids against the values of that family, that they don't have the right to do that. You have the right to know that your child is safe at school. Obviously, the general assembly passed a law prohibiting boys from going into girls' private spaces and vice versa. The fourth circuit court of appeals just enjoined that law to allow a transgender student into the opposite sex, personal space. You know, there are there are kids across this country who have been sexually assaulted by members of the opposite sex. Right. Your children have a right to be safe in schools, and as a parent, you have a right to know that your child is being protected. And that is why I'm going to the United States Supreme Court on defending South Carolina's law. You have the right to, to, read, or you have the right for your children to only have access to age appropriate materials in their school libraries. And you have the right to know who is teaching your children, the backgrounds of teachers, as well as what they're teaching your children. Recently in Dorchester County, there was a teacher posting Yep. Violent, extremist, gory stuff on social media, and this is an elementary school teacher. That teacher was suspended. But you have the right to know who was handling the most precious thing in your life, and that is your own child. So these are basic fundamental and constitutional rights that parents have in this office and I as the attorney general and as a future governor, we'll talk about that in a minute, will defend us to my dying breath. And and that's it. I mean, when you look at some of this stuff that that teacher down in Georgia, Chester County was, was publishing and putting out on social media, I mean, you have to sit there and go, oh my gosh. How did that person even even get hired to begin with? That is the qu ...
Welcome back to the program. Let's go to the WRD talk line. We'll talk to Gary in Taylors. What's going on, Gary? Hey. How are you, Charlie? Good, buddy. What's up? Good. Well, with with your conversation with lieutenant governor there just a second ago, I wanted to ask a a question. Attorney general. Attorney general. Attorney auto. Yeah. That's right. That's right. Okay. AG. AG. Sorry. Yeah. Tom, AG. And then also Nancy Mace has both said, yes. They will deputize all our local agents, state highway patrol, you know, sheriff's city, game and game wardens and all that kind of stuff to help get rid of a lot of these illegals Yeah. That have records especially. Right. But yet Henry sends 200 national guard troops up to Washington DC and doesn't, you know, really have to even give it a whole lot of thought. And, yeah, he won't do this, which is affecting us directly, not up in Washington DC. He refuses to do that to protect us. How many more tens or hundreds of u of South Carolina city and citizens are gonna get raped, murdered, killed, molested, DUI against us, and and that. But he won't do that. All these people from Florida, from Tennessee, from these states that are enacting some of this stuff are gonna be run into the light here in South Carolina. And yet we're the ones that's gonna pay the price. Yep. You are exactly right. You are exactly right, Gary. And why Henry McMaster is dragging his feet on this, I have no idea, Gary, and I appreciate your call. Georgia has the two eighty seven g agreement with certain law enforcement agencies, and these agreements allow local law enforcement to partner with US ICE and immigration's custom with ICE to enforce immigration laws. Gwynedd County has been involved with the two eighty seven g program for some time. What is going on with Henry McMaster? What is and, again, just like the caller Gary said, he's more than willing to take these people and and send them up to Washington DC to help out with crime there. So what's going on with the dragging of the feet of Henry McMaster? Let me tell you how successful this program has been in the state of Georgia. Are you ready for this? Georgia has had a 367% increase in the arrest of illegal aliens in Georgia. 367% increase. Now not all of that was because of ICE agents. A lot of that came from those local sheriffs, local police officers, local whatever, actually getting getting involved and being deputized by ICE. So, yes, everybody I mean, I haven't talked to well, I've talked to one person who just had a a a a no. It was a good question, and I'll I'll get to that in a second. But everybody that I've talked to has been like, yeah. Let's do it. I think it's a great idea. And the one person that that's got some reservations about it was, yeah. But what happens when, you know, deputizing these people for what happens when or if the Democrats get in power? Are they going to since these people are ICE deputies, are they gonna they gonna give them stand down orders? That I don't know. That I don't know because, remember, a sword always cuts two ways. So the two eighty seven g program is something that a lot of people have been screaming about, and I know that one person that is, for the two eighty seven g program is I don't and I'll be honest with you. We were kinda debating. I was debating with the producer dynamite, JJ, about what we call Bill Ryan now. What what do we call him? Yeah. Well, he's the he's the Republican primary runoff winner for the sheriff's race in Spartanburg. But since there's no Democrat opponent coming up in the general election, I guess we could just call them sheriff elect. I don't know if that would be okay. I know there's a lot of conspiracy theories out there on the text line, but I I just go with, sheriff elect Bill Ryan. Bill Ryan is for it. We're gonna be talking with Bill Ryan coming up at 04:06. He's gonna be in studio with us. We had all of these you know, whenever people talk, they always talk ...

The recently flooded Van Wezel got a few more years. The City of Sarasota is now taking steps to keep the historic performing arts hall in good shape, but there are many questions about the future of the Purple Cow. Next up: Layoffs at Sarasota County's largest manufacturing company seem to continue, after a merger last fall that resulted in the elimination of an entire shift. WSLR News reporter Noah Vinsky has the story of a struggling couple in North Port. Then: We continue to follow the deportation of a young woman from North Port. Today, Ramon Lopez brings us the third chapter of her journey: What does the future look like for Lulu Martinez in Mexico? And what are her legal options, if she tried to return to the United States? Then: Speaking of deportations - a protest is coming up in Sarasota this weekend. Finally: Rob Lorei was not loud, but this Tampa Bay area journalist left quite the legacy. He passed away last weekend, and we bring you a eulogy.
I I don't know. I what is the unofficial motto of, the Charlie James show? It's a great day to ruin a Democrat's day, and we try to do that every single day here on the program because we love liberal tears. But I think that is also one of the things that president Trump strives to do. I wonder what he was thinking about when he, you know, when he had this latest idea. Maybe he woke up, got out of bed this morning and said, Melania, let me tell you what I'm gonna do. I got a brand new plan that's gonna destroy these Democrats. It's gonna make them lose their minds. Let me tell you my plan. We're gonna have a big, beautiful, black wall. The wall's gonna be black. You're gonna love it. It's gonna be president Trump is literally painting the wall black. Secretary, homeland security secretary, Kristi Noem, talked about it at the border. I think she did. If she will, if this thing will load here. Let me see. Maybe it will. Maybe it won't. Come on now. Don't leave me hanging. Oh, doggone it. I don't know what's gonna be. Our computer just froze up there for just a second. Anyway, when she comes on, she comes on, but they're painting the border wall black. Now this isn't for now two reasons for this. Number one, I've seen the wall. I've been to the wall. The wall in those elements, it's rusted. It's a rusted wall. Not all the way through, but it's rusted. But for the second reason is, it's gonna make the border wall unbelievably hot to the touch. Because people, believe it or not, I mean, they they have scaled this wall. Right? They've they've climbed up that bad boy. How do you do that? I don't know, but they have. Let's see. We got Christie at home. Nope. Not just yet. I don't know what's going on with the old computer there, but they're I just think it's genius. I think it's it's it's almost evil genius, but it is genius. Let's see how we can make the wall more uncomfortable to these illegals when they try to scale it. Let's let's paint it in a color that is just going to absorb all of that heat and transfer it into your little fingers when you try to climb up that thing. I think it's brilliant. I don't know about you guys, but I just I just absolutely love it. But it's it is. It's like he wakes up every morning going, how can we make him cry today? How can we make him cry? Oh, there you go. And, of course, we got five seventy seven. When the sooner Trump shut up? Listen. No. Listen. All you people, all of you negative nellies over on the text line, I want you to understand something. You are literally spinning into the wind. You are speaking into a vacuum. So few people believe what you believe. The vast majority of Americans are loving what this president is doing, and he they are loving the timing of all of this. I don't care what the the pundits over there. They're all like, woah. What are we gonna do? We're loving it. It's great. You find me a true actual conservative out there that isn't just as happy as a lark right now with what's going on. And when we sing see things like this, I mean, we're actually more happy. Charlie, the sooner Trump figures out the true nature of Putin and the Russian's military, the better. Oh, o May. I had no idea. I had no idea you were such an expert on the Russian military. Really? Where did you get your training? Where did you oh, CNN? Is that where you got it? Oh, okay. Okay. There you go. Well, anyway, this guy's done more. He's done more for the average American than Charlie, how about being a positive Pollyanna? Hello? Not a Pollyanna. Nobody's a Pollyanna. We're just positive. Pollyanna is a negative, by the way. So, anyway, president Trump is doing great things, and you know it. And if you don't know it, well, you haven't been paying attention. When we get back, we got more good news coming out of Greenville County Council. A, ordinance is dead. We'll tell you about that. Coming up next is the Charlie James Show. News talk ninety eight nine WARD, the voice of The Ca ...
