Today we explore what is considered Australia’s largest UFO sighting. It was 10.20am on April 6 in 1966 and just a regular day for students and teachers from Westall High School in Victoria. 12-year-old Joy Clarke was in Science Class and waiting for the bell to ring, when a student burst into the classroom, urging everyone to come outside. The reason? Flying objects in the sky. At first, no one believed the school girl but as Joy rushed down to the oval with her classmates, well, she saw something she’s never been able to forget. The Westall UFO encounter has gone on to become a tale that is told to generations of people. But what was it actually like on the day? At 11am on the 6th of April 1966 in Clayton Victoria, over 200 children and teachers claimed to have witnessed a silver disc shaped object flying over Westall Primary and Westall High School, before it zoomed off into a nearby paddock. Many of the students followed the object into the paddock. Some even claim they were so close they could touch it, feeling the heat radiating off the thing before it shot off into the sky and disappeared.  The mass sighting would become known as Westall 66.

On April 6th, 1966 at 11am one of the world's most witnessed UFO incidents began in Clayton, a suburb of Melborne, Australia. Over 200 independent witnesses claimed to have seen up to three UFOs for up to 20 minutes in length, some within an arms length. The UFOs are said to have left physical evidence, travelled of up to 1000MPH and were investigated and the incident covered up by authorities.One witness is said to have seen the exact same UFOs a year prior and has photographic evidence along with eye-witness testimony.This is Unsolved Mysteries of the World, Season Two, Episode Five, The Westall UFO Sightings.It was a bright, sunny morning at Westall High School and the a late morning sports session was wrapping up on the school's cricket oval. As the children and teachers prepared to head back in, a strange object in the sky appeared and children and teachers began to point and question.The object appeared to be large, silver colour disk and flew over the school and hovered for a moment before moving once again. Over 50 eye-witnesses indicate that the movement of the object is what perplexed them the most. They indicated it was able to float motionless and then be able to move, very very fast.Word of the strange object spread quickly and all eyes were looking up at the strange disk.
