Anika and Liz infiltrate a pre-warp society, where they absolutely do not enter a race, that is clearly a trap. Not because of the human sacrifice, because of the running! Like episode 3, this felt a bit predictable, but ALSO like a rebuke to "Lift Us Up Where Suffering Cannot Reach" and "Who Watches The Watchers", so we're not mad about it What if obeying the Prime Directive is the unethical option? (Caretaker + Who Watches the Watchers) x (Lift Us Up Where Suffering Cannot Reach + Sacred Ground) - Christopher Pike/Evil Ex + Michael "Fuck the Prime Directive" Burnham Hugh Culber and ChatGPT therapy Paul and Hugh are both at turning points, but it's not a crisis for them or their relationship This season is the opposite of a mystery box Discovery has always been a series where science and religion co-exist Paramount, the most competent media company, accidentally took Anika off their Star Trek list and put her on the Knuckles list. So … we talk about Knuckles! Is Kovich a little too omniscient? We are not here for fandom's fatshaming of Mary Wiseman

GHU037 Der Gott der Mintakaner (TNG 3x04) (Who Watches The Watchers)
Episode 3.04 - Who Watches The Watchers by Star Trek Sucks?
Sorra vesszük a legnépszerűbb Star Trek sorozat legnépszerűbb kapitányához kapcsolódó megkerülhetetlen mérföldköveket, melyek a ma ismert Picard jellemének elengedhetetlen építőelemei. Az új nemzedék Picard-központú toplistájával már a 2020 január 23-án bemutatkozó új sorozatra készülünk fel, adásunk pedig a premierig tartó Űrszekerek visszaszámlálás hangosan eldördülő startpisztolya. Rövid hírszekció: • Megtekintettük a Short Treks Children of Mars című epizódját: hogyan kapcsolódik a rövid történet a Star Trek: Picard világához? A toplista: • 10. Kimenőn a kapitány (Captain's Holiday, TNG 3x19) A TNG Indiana Jones epizódja, Picard énjének újszerű, mégis teljesen hiteles kalandvágyó-szenvedélyes oldalával megsimertetve. Humor, időutazás, szerelem és ismét egy nagyszerű Picard-döntés az epizód végén. • 9. A hajsza (The Chase TNG 6x20) Egy epizód, mely két részt, vagy mozifilmet érdemelt volna: Picard a hivatásai között vívódik, miközben minden humanoid faj ősgyökerét keresi. • 8. Aki megfigyeli a megfigyelőket (Who Watches The Watchers, TNG 3x04) Picard a legalapvetőbb csillagflotta elveket képviselve hajlandó saját magát is kockáztatni azért, hogy bebizonyítsa a mintakaiak előtt, ő nem isten, hogy megakadályozza a további kulturális fertőzést. • 7. Minden jó, ha jó a vége (All Good Things, TNG 7x25-26) Méltó, nagyszabású lezárása a sorozatnak, Picard jelen, múlt és jövő között ide-oda ugrálva igyekszik megakadályozni, hogy az általa véletlenül létrehozott anomália kitöröljön minden életet az Alfa Kvadránsban, beleértve az emberiséget is. • 6. Titkos küldetés, 1-2. rész (The Chain of Command Part I-II, TNG 6x10-11) Picard titkos küldetése talán még a Borgnál is jobban megfosztja emberségétől, a poszt-Roddeneberry idők emblematikus sötét kalandja. • 5. • 4. Darmok (Darmok, TNG 5x02) Az alap Picard-epizódok egyike, a közös nyelv megteremtésén munkálkodó Picard az egész Star Trek esszenciáját, és legalapvetőbb kapitányi atribútumát jeleníti meg. • 3. Két világ legjava (Best of Both Worlds, TNG 3x26, 4x01) + Család (Family, TNG 4x02) A Család című epizódban tudjuk meg igazán, mit is művelt a Borg Picard-al. Enélkül elképzelhetetlen lenne a Star Trek: Kapcsolatfelvétel súlya. • 2.
First Contacts in TNG. To communicate with new life and new civilizations through first contact is one of the primary missions of a Starfleet crew and the crews of the Enterprise-D and Enterprise-E are no exception. The first contacts that we see rarely seem to be easy, whether with space-faring jellyfish, subspace aliens kidnapping the crew, or the malevolent collective consciousness of the Borg, but it does make for a great discussion topic. In this episode of Earl Grey, hosts Joe Keegan and Justin Oser are joined by guest April Taylor to talk about first contacts in The Next Generation and what they tell us about one of Starfleet's most important missions. The discussion includes the episodes "Encounter at Farpoint," "Pen Pals," "Q Who," "Who Watches The Watchers," "First Contact," "Schisms," and "Phantasms" as well as the movie First Contact. We're doing the Next Generation episode "Who Watches The Watchers?" as our wild card episode this month! We had a lot to talk about, so we went pretty long. A research outpost on a planet harboring a pre-industrial civilization of Vulcan like beings known as the Mintakans is under threat by a malfunction which renders their "Duck Blind" inoperable and exposes the inhabitants of a small village to other beings prematurely. Several of the Mintakans experience an existential crisis and now Picard and the crew must race to find a way to minimize the damage done to their natural course by this exposure. Find out what we thought of this episode and join in on the discussion with your thoughts!
