Matt and Rob sit down with the legendary progressive rock guitarist, Steve Hackett formerly of GENESIS and GTR Steve talks about his current tour (recently winding down) called FOXTROT AT FIFTY, what the term progressive means, what John Lennon said about Genesis, his incredible new album "The Circus and the Nightwhale" and more. We had 30 minutes to talk to Steve which in itself is incredible since he was in the middle of a tour of the US. ******** JUST A LITTLE BIT ABOUT STEVE HACKETT: Steve Hackett is renowned as an immensely talented and innovative rock musician. He was lead guitarist with Genesis as part of their classic line up with Gabriel, Collins, Banks and Rutherford, that produced acclaimed albums such as Selling England by the Pound (a favourite of John Lennon). With Steve's extraordinary versatility in both his electric guitar playing and his composing, he involves influences from many genres, including Jazz, World Music and Blues. He is equally adept in his classical albums that include renditions of pieces by composers from Bach to Satie, his own acoustic guitar compositions that have gained the admiration of many, including Yehudi Menuhin, and ambitious guitar/ orchestra albums such as A Midsummer Night's Dream, recorded with the Royal Philharmonic. With Genesis, Steve's guitar playing produced some of the most memorable moments, from the sensitivity of his acoustic sound on Horizons and Blood on the Rooftops to the dramatic rock guitar solos of Firth of Fifth and Fountain of Salmacis. As he embarked on his solo career he developed his exceptional range, pushing musical boundaries into exciting areas, inventing new sounds and also techniques such as 'tapping'. His solo career went from strength to strength and the mid eighties not only saw the hit single Cell 151, but also the Steve Hackett and Steve Howe super group GTR, highly successful in America. ************ You can find STEVE at hackettsongs.com, Facebook and Instagram (@stevehackettofficial) Be sure to listen to his incredible new album THE CIRCUS AND THE NIGHTWHALE! ************ KNOW GOOD MUSIC can be found on Podbean (host site), Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Iheart Radio, Pandora and almost anywhere you listen to podcasts. “Our aim is to get it back to grade A 100% health. And that's as it left the manufacturer OEM at its original point of sale. And that's Genesis. That's Genesis in a nutshell,” says Thomas Gardner of Ultratest, a Restore Technology Company. In this podcast, we learn that Ultratest offers two product families: Genesis and Nemesis. Ultratest is a member of the ASCDI, the ITAD Association. The company is based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, in the U.K. Gardner tells us that the company offers a combination of hardware and software solution, predominantly aimed at the erasure test and repair of hard drives and SSDs. Ultratest aims its offerings at ITADs, third-party logistics, and reverse logistics. We learn how Genesis and Nemesis can help them not only erase data but make other milestones. With Genesis, a used hard drive, perhaps obtained for $20, can be brought back to a top condition where it can be sold for $40. Nemesis is like Genesis, a software and hardware solution. Nemesis is used on routers, switches, firewalls, access points, and other hardware coming out of data center. According to Gardner, Nemesis answers an on-going challenge, with equipment going back into use, not completely cleared of old, and sensitive data. The MSP and channel communities encounter gear in these categories, every day. Instead of shredding old drives and seeing them off to landfill, drives can be put back into use. Recycled products can help match public and private goals. “We are attending a few events this year. We'll be at the Broker Bin meeting in London in May. We signed up for the ITAD Summit in Miami, finishing off a year with the European Broker meeting in October,” adds Garner. We'll be attending all those shows. We'll be bringing our machines with us, both Genesis and Nemesis, to showcase our offerings. We'd love to meet you there.” https://www.ultratestsolutions.com/
As you study the Bible, it always amazes me how one part folds into and helps the understanding of another part. For example, you must have an understanding of the Book of Daniel before you can understand the Book of Revelation. In my opinion, there are two books which are key to the understanding of all of the Scriptures, the book that opens the Old Testament (Genesis), and the book that opens the New Testament (Matthew). God had some definite purpose in giving the book of Genesis to us. The first section of the book has to do with the universe and with creation, but the last part deals with man, with nations, and with the person of Jesus Christ. God was more interested in Abraham than He was in the entire created universe, and God is more interested in you and attaches more value to you than He does to the entire physical universe. With Genesis begins the progressive self-revelation of God which culminates in Christ. The three primary names of Deity-Elohim, Jehovah, and Adonai appear in Genesis and these in an ordered progression which could not be changed without confusion. It also presents the problem of sin and how it affects man's condition on the earth and his relationship to God. It also presents the divine solution of that problem. Click on the link below to hear a message that describes what the book of Genesis is all about. Genesis is the “seed plot” of the Bible, and here we find the beginning, the source, the birth of everything. The Book of Genesis is just like the bud of a beautiful rose, and it opens out into the rest of the Bible. The truth here is in germ form. This is a live recording of The Master's Class Bible Study at LifeChange Church Wichita, KS. Amen.

With Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers in the rearview mirror, our trek through the Bible now arrives at the end of the Book of Moses, or, the Pentateuch. Though it's probably best known for the second giving of the ten commandments (5:6–21; 10:1–2)—a necessity after Moses smashed the first set in anger (Ex 32:19)—Deuteronomy has much more going on than a mere legal do-over. And to help us better process this thirty-four chapter text we welcome to the podcast, Dr. Paul Weaver. Dr. Weaver serves as the Academic Dean of the Word of Life Global Bible Institute. He's is a professor of Bible and theology, a productive author, and is passionate about providing high-quality Bible study resources that are affordable and within the reach of anyone serious about studying God's word.

With Genesis founder Mike Rutherford's recent 70th birthday, we thought we'd have a listen to five tracks from his non-Genesis output. That includes solo albums and, of course, his side band Mike + the Mechanics. Some of it's prog, some of it's not, but you can't deny he can write the kind of music many people enjoy listening to. Here's to you, Mr. Rutherford! To hear previous archival episodes, go to www.progtopia.com, and follow the show on Facebook (www.facebook.com/progtopia).
This week continue our series taking a look at challenging situations. With Genesis 45:3-15, we discuss how Joseph extended forgiveness in a difficult moment.
Frederick Turner is a poet, philosopher and the Founders Professor at the University of Texas at Dallas. He has authored more than two dozen poetry books and philosophical treatises. With Genesis and Apocalypse, he revived the epic poem by turning to science fiction and in his research, he has explored the nature of time, cosmology, evolution, and self-organizing complex systems. He joins Subversion to discuss how to heal the divide between science and the arts through metaphor, poetry, and understanding the philosophical foundations of this divide.
TRUTH IS A PERSON, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST John 1:1-5. It is no coincidence that the beginning of John’s Gospel account and the first words of the book of Genesis are the same. If one were to consider it carefully, we would actually conclude that John 1:1 comes before Genesis 1:1 in regards to the chronological record. With Genesis, Moses begins with a point in history, being the initial creation over six days’ time.
With Genesis 1 as our foundation, we see that not only are our children created in the image of God, but everyone is – everyone from different ethnicities are created by our Creator God, so if we can start there, then everyone is equal. From there – Jesus died on the cross for every tribe, tongue, and nation and has tasked us to go and make disciples of all nations. And one day we’ll be worshipping together. His solo career went from strength to strength and the mid eighties not only saw the hit single Cell 151, but also the Steve Hackett and Steve Howe super group GTR, highly successful in America. Steve Hackett After GTR Steve worked further with many renowned musicians such as Paul Carrick, Bonny Tyler, John Wetton and Brian May, who has credited Steve as an early influence. Steve went on to produce his hit album Genesis Revisited. He went even further back to his roots with Blues with a Feeling, whilst continuing to challenge his own 'horizons' with an amazingly eclectic mix of sounds, genres and a sense of the exotic that excites his many followers to this day. Recent albums have possessed a high level of sophistication, along with an ever-present powerful dynamic, from the dramatic and atmospheric darkness of Darktown and Wild Orchids to the colourful voyage through time and space of To Watch the Storms. 2009's Out Of The Tunnel's Mouth, written and recorded in the midst of domestic and professional upheaval, was released to an overwhelmingly positive response from fans and reviewers alike, many of them proclaiming it his best ever. Hot on the heels of OOTTM was Beyond the Shrouded Horizon released in 2011, which has easily received an equally enthusiastic response. In 2012 Steve collaborated with Chris Squire of Yes on the "Squackett" album A Life Within a Day. Steve's live electric gigs take his fans on an extraordinary journey drawn from a rich musical heritage. Perennial Genesis favourites such as the mighty Firth Of Fifth sit alongside solo classics, while more recent solo material is also included, demonstrating that Steve is an artist still at the very top of his game. Supported by some of the best musicians on the planet, Steve's unique guitar work remains the fulcrum on which this challenging and exhilarating show is balanced. Genesis' induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in March 2010 stands as a testament to the enduring qualities of their music. Steve has always held a torch for the classic Genesis music. His Genesis Revisited II, a double CD, involves several iconic artists and contains many Genesis favourites. It was released in late October 2012. A Genesis Revisited worldwide tour in 2013 was followed by a Genesis Extended tour in 2014 and early 2015 due to popular demand… Never one to rest on his laurels, Steve continues to blaze a trail with new material and to be an exhilarating and groundbreaking artist. Following the success of his album Wolflight, his latest album The Night Siren gained even more notoriety, charting in several countries and reaching the top 30 in the UK charts. He tours worldwide. In February / March 2018 he will tour from North America to South America encompassing his whole career wit...
