To get some of the old episodes heard.~~~Our first guest today is Steve Hackett from the UK, and former guitarist of the British band Genesis, and Steve has been kind enough to come on between tours to share his UFO experience. While standing on Itaipu Beach in Niterói, Brazil, he witnessed, with several others, a strange configuration of red lights ascending into the sky. The UFO case was also reported in the local newspaper, as many others had reported seeing the objects along the edges of Niterói. Then we head to Virginia in the United States to speak with Catherine about her paranormal experiences, starting with one from her college days when she received a late night visit from a very recently passed friend that left her terrified; then the following night, Catherine's friend came to her in a dream.Steve Hackett's Website:https://www.hackettsongs.comMore information on this episode on the podcast website:https://ufochroniclespodcast.com/ep-165-niteroi-ufos-a-friends-last-goodbye/Want to share your encounter on the show?Email: UFOChronicles@gmail.comOr Fill out Guest Form:https://forms.gle/uGQ8PTVRkcjy4nxS7Podcast Merchandise:https://www.teepublic.com/user/ufo-chronicles-podcastHelp Support UFO CHRONICLES by becoming a Patron:https://patreon.com/UFOChroniclespodcastX: https://x.com/UFOchronpodcastThank you for listening!Like share and subscribe it really helps me when people share the show on social media, it means we can reach more people and more witnesses and without your amazing support, it wouldn't be possible.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/ufo-chronicles-podcast--3395068/support.
In her first solo episode in a while, Sara J. takes the mic to share the whirlwind that was Rocktober — a month packed with music, milestones, and meaning. From an event that marked the culmination of a year's hard work, to an impromptu adventure to the Away From Home Festival with her daughter, multiple border-crossing trips, finally seeing Steve Hackett live, and celebrating the exhibit opening of friend and iconic photographer Richard Beland — it's been a ride. Alongside major growth with the company and a wave of new content, Sara also takes a moment to reflect on the past 12 months — and the reminder that no matter what's happening in the world, music is always there.Donate to DATC Media Company: https://datcmediacompany.com/supportGive the gift of Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/Datcmediacompany/giftThe DATC Media Podcast Family: https://datcmediacompany.com/podcastsWant to be a guest on the show? https://datcmediacompany.com/contact/ola/services/be-a-guest-on-dropped-among-this-crowd-podcastWant to be a RoughGauge featured artist? Welcome along to the latest edition of tales from "The Rock Vault" and on this edition you will hear from Richie Faulkner of Judas Priest, Don Dokken, Steve Hackett, John Coghlan of Status Quo , Ronnie Romero and Dave Ellefson Steve Young Megadeth all who have stories and tales to tell...
It began with the theft of a bunch of their instruments, continued with writing sessions in a rat-infested (and possibly haunted) old house, and finished in a race to meet a deadline. But the result was one of Prog-Rock's greatest concept albums. It would also prove to be the last with lead singer Peter Gabriel. To mark the release of the new box set and Dolby Atmos mix of the album, Randy traces the story behind The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway by Genesis on the Chronicles of Rock.
Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Nad Sylvan (lead singer with Steve Hackett's band) joins Phil Aston to unpack his new solo album Monumentata—a deeply personal work shaped by family, memory, grief, and resilience. Nad explains how his music arrives fully formed in his head, why lyrics come last, and how a painful moment with his father became the seed for the title track. He also talks about adapting his voice for Genesis classics, the emotional power of live shows (including a moving “Supper's Ready” moment in Italy), and the stubborn self-belief that kept him creating for forty years.Featuring song insights (“Secret Lover,” “Flowerland,” “Wildfire,” “That's Not Me,” “Monumentata”) and tour notes ahead of the USA run with Steve Hackett.Phil Aston | Now Spinning Magazine
Guitar legend Steve Hackett returns to the Now Spinning Magazine Podcast for our fifth conversation. We talk candidly about health, the healing power of music, his packed 2025–2026 touring schedule, 38 minutes of new studio material, band lineup changes (Nick D'Virgilio, Felix Lehrmann, L.A. Lawson), the Dolby Atmos experience of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, and the long-form magic of Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound, and “Supper's Ready.”Steve also addresses the big question: could there be a future classical-leaning collaboration with Tony Banks and other Genesis members? His answer: “Never say never”—if it serves a greater purpose and the music.Phil Aston | Now Spinning Magazine
1975 found Genesis in a time of transition. After coming off a lengthy and technically difficult tour for their 1974 album The Lamb LIes Down On Broadway, most everyone was a little burned out. Peter Gabriel ended up leaving the band to embark on a solo career (one that would land him in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame) and the band were left with a lengthy audition process to replace him. Meanwhile, guitarist Steve Hackett had been accumulating music he'd written to keep him sane on the road during the difficult Lamb tour. But not only did Steve have pieces leftover from Genesis sessions, he'd begun to write pieces that might not make sense in the context of the band - acoustic pieces and songs written for a woman's voice. So while on a break from the band, he conjured up Voyage of the Acoylyte - his first solo record released on the same label as Genesis, Charisma. To help Steve lay down these track, he enlisted the help of bandmates Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins (who would go onto replace Gabriel as the lead singer of Genesis after dozens of singers were deemed unworthy). The opening Ace of Wands is a real showcase for Steve's guitar playing - crisp tone with technique that creates a rich soundscape. And while he does do a bit of singing on the record, he leaves the vocals to more capable collaborators like Sally Oldfield on Shadow of the Hierophant and Phil Collins on Star of Sirius. While some of this might have made sense on a Genesis album, some of the acoustic pieces or parts accompanied by his brother John Hackett on flute stand out as something different to what his band would usually produce. With a loose concept around the names of Tarot Cards, Voyage of the Acolyte takes you on a heroes journey with all sorts of incredible textures and sounds with Steve's guitar as the main focus. 50 years later, he still plays these songs live and they fit in very well with the classic Genesis songs that Steve still honors live.
Hi everybody, I'm incredibly delighted to welcome STEVE HACKETT as my guest for this episode of The Talk Music Podcast.Steve is one of the most innovative and influential guitarists to emerge from the progressive rock movement. Born in 1950, he spent a year in Vancouver at the age of seven before growing up in the UK, eventually rising to prominence as a member of GENESIS, which he joined in 1971. His debut with the band came on Nursery Cryme, where his distinctive, textured playing helped shape Genesis' unique sound during their most acclaimed era. Hackett was central to the creation of progressive rock landmarks such as Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound, and the ambitious double album The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. After contributing to Wind & Wuthering in 1977, Hackett left the group, eager to explore his own creative path. He was later inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 as a member of Genesis.Even before leaving the band, Hackett had begun forging a solo career, releasing his debut album Voyage of the Acolyte in 1975. Over the following decades, he built an extraordinary body of work, from Spectral Mornings to the darker tones of Guitar Noir, as well as forays into classical guitar with albums like Momentum. In the 2010s, he revisited his Genesis years with the Genesis Revisited projects, reintroducing the band's 1970s masterpieces to a new generation of listeners. In total, Steve has released over 30 solo albums, the most recent being the brilliant The Circus and the Nightwhale.Steve Hackett has secured his place as one of the greats of modern guitar, never ceasing to push boundaries. It was truly an honour for me to chat with him. Genesis was one of the main reasons I entered the world of music, and I had the privilege of seeing them perform numerous times. Our conversation covers his time with Genesis, his reasons for leaving to go solo, info about his amazing fellow musicians joining him on tour and his continued passion for songwriting and performing around the world—including some upcoming Canadian dates. His current tour is titled Steve Hackett – Genesis Greats, Lamb Highlights & Solo.Enjoy the episode! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We're incorrigible Genesis fans. We hail every bit of output from 1970 to 1978. We even go further than that. But here, for episode 127, we stop and lovingly gaze at the band's final album of the '70s, the first after the departure of guitarist Steve Hackett, and a work that some mark as the band's departure from prog rock. Not so, say we! Spectral, ghostly, gauzy, playful, lush as all get-out...and total prog. Current Steve Hackett bassist and ex-Flower King Jonas Reingold is back with the sixth Karmakanic album, Transmutation. The new album sees Karmakanic as less of a band and more of a collective of musicians, featuring a new lead vocalist in John Mitchell (Lonely Robot, Arena, It Bites, Kino, Frost*). Jonas was kind enough to tell me about the making of Transmutation, his musical background, joining the Flower Kings and Steve Hackett's band, being in Los Angeles to mix the record during the height of the wildfires, and much more. Additionally, Randy McStine delivers lead guitar firepower, marking their first collaboration since The Fringe in 2016. The album also features an all-star lineup, including Lalle Larsson, Andy Tillison, Tomas Bodin, Luke Machin, Göran Edman, Rob Townsend, Roger King, and Krister Jonsson, among others. Recorded across Nashville, Los Angeles, Germany, and Austria, the album delivers a breathtaking sonic experience, mixed by five-time Grammy-winning engineer Chris Lord-Alge (Rolling Stones, Muse, Tina Turner, Prince) at his Los Angeles studio, MIX LA.

Must-Hear Albums of 2024: My Top 35 ! Join me, Phil Aston from Now Spinning Magazine, as I take you through my definitive list of the year's best new album releases. From prog and rock to metal and beyond, discover the music that defined 2024 for me.
While the first of our two year in review episodes focused on the albums we reviewed and authors & podcasters we hosted on the show, Part 2 drills down on the live concerts we talked about and the 15 artists & legends we had the good fortune to interview on UAWIL in 2024. We knew that when The Wolf left Europe for the American midwest, there would be fewer opportunities to see live shows by the bands we love. But we made the most of it with some killer concerts including taking a disappointed 9 year old to see Journey (He's not the leads singer of Journey!?!), taking Action Jackson to his first Steve Hackett show, laughing and singing along with Colin Hay and finally seeing Wolfgang Van Halen live. But the real story is around the amazing performers we welcomed in 2024, almost doubling the number we hosted in 2023 and tripling the number of Rock N Roll Hall of Famers. We welcomed Steve Hackett (Genesis) for the 2nd time as well as his fellow Hall of Famers Guy Fletcher (Dire Straits) and the legendary Steve Howe (Yes, Asia). We also spoke with members of or worked with bands we loved growing up like Simple Minds, Vixen and Eric Clapton. We also spoke with some new generation rockers like Kiran Roy (October Drift) and Scott Holiday (Rival Sons) as in order to keep rock alive, we need new bands to fly the flag. The Wolf & Action Jackson are grateful to all our many listeners all over the globe, to our sponsor RareVinyl.com, to our friends at Pantheon Podcasts and to each other for putting together the best year we've ever had!! Happy Holidays to all and all the best for a safe, peaceful and rockin 2025!
